  1. Narrower cones? Full Auto has a 90 degree arc (Sentinel). I haven't seen any difference with Flamethrower or buckshot being narrower. I have a AR/Regen, not built well at all, but he tears through things, not +4/8, but then again he wasn't built for that.

I also have a DP/SR, and that is wonderful, efficiently goes through +4/8 anything. Basically plays (and feels better) than my SR Scrapper, but has better AoEs and can initiate 2 of them from range. I don't know exactly where everyone comes from on gameplay, but when we are saying this is behind that, are we looking at recharge times? Or is it straight damage when activated? Those DP AoEs are pretty much constant. We were have a discussion on things like this the other day in our SG. Sets like Katana or Claws don't hit like a truck, but they are both an unrelenting stream of damage.

Totally with you Ry on Incinerator. I have a Traps/AR Defender and planned to skip that on my Sentinel thinking it was Ignite, but wow it is so good.

I think sometimes the planners do us a disservice when we are comparing just damage. I need the gameplay to make a call, like how Seraphim has ranked them do to his experience. I really liked the idea of DP/SR, I thought it would very fun on incarnate and team stuff (and it is team/incarnate/farm[damage type means nothing]), but I didn't know it would be so powerful solo. I have my Claws/SR, and liked the idea of a PSI/SR, but the more I look at PSI the more the numbers look weak. Thing is I have learned I got to get in there and play it so actually see.

Anyway. not trying to pick on anyone in particular. I'm seeing a lot of people in and out of game not looking at the total picture (just my opinion folks).

has anyone ranked the primaries in terms of raw damage? i'm looking to build a primarily solo sentinel for my next toon, but i've run fire sets on my last two toons, so i'm pretty burned out on fire...... i'm sorry for that one 😞.

as i'm not overly familiar with sents, i have no idea how the primaries fare, and i never really played Blasters either, so my only real experience with blast sets come from cor/def builds, which are skewed by buffs. i'm more of a concept player than a numbers min/max guy, but giving myself a bit of a head start without running through 4 or 5 builds until i land on one that "feels" right appeals to my limited amount of available play time. any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Dual Pistols/Super Reflexes Sentinel I am quite happy with. It was very easy to cap defenses, and can do +4/8 pretty efficiently. In terms of solo play you  are mostly likely going to have mobs on you a good amount of the time, so DP plays nicely into that. My first build had no healing, and did +2/8 just fine. Getting the Incarnate heal helped, but I reworked it to have Aid Self and that helped more. Plus if you ever wanted to ditch Hasten, SR is really great for that. The different ammos are nice flavor. For Incarnate or farming I go Cryo. solo I go Incendiary, and Chemical I usually use on a team if they are getting pounded. Not saying any of the effects are game changing, but it is cool to choose.

Side note: of any character I've ever gone into Incarnates trial with this one if very cheap/cheesy in some instances. Namely Piercing Shot vs all those prisoners running in a straight line.

Not exactly.  45% is the best you can do against normal content.  Going up to 50% doesn't change things.  The minimum base to hit is 5% and the mobs are getting Accuracy bonuses to that minimum 5% to hit chance.

    +0 minion = 5% to hit

    +4 minion (1.4 acc) = 5*1.4 = 7% to hit

    +0 boss (1.3 acc) = 5*1.3 = 6.5% to hit

    +4 boss (1.4*1.3) = 5*1.82 = 9.1% to hit

Once they get to +5, then they get +to hit bonuses, and then more defense might matter.

So, the correct statement would be:  to floor a +4 AV you need 45% defense.  Their floor would be 5%*2.1 = 10.5% chance to hit you.

Now, extra defense can help against defense debuffs to an extent.

For Incarnate content, same deal except the softcap is 58.75% instead of 45% defense.

Thanks for all the information you shared in this thread. Just asking for clarification on the Incarnate cap. Do level shifts affect this? Like is the cap still 58.75% if I am +1, +2, and +3? Or does it only need to be 45% when you start getting shifted (or at any certain level shift)?

  4. I wanted to switch names on 2 characters. So I renamed one, then renamed the second character to the name the first character was. Upon renaming the second character it disappeared and the first character was moved into that slot from a different page. I have logged in and out a few time to see if things went back to normal, no luck. Will put the next part in a spoiler, so people only read it if they want, it is a bit of a mess.

    Spoiler

The character on page 1 was named Wrecka, a Claws/SR scrapper level 50. The character on page 2 was named wr3ck3r a Psi/SR scrapper level 42. I first renamed wr3ck3r to m3nt4l wr3ck, that appeared to work fine. I then renamed Wrecka to wr3ck3r and instantly upon doing that the newly named m3nt4l wr3ck (orignally wr3ck3r level 42) was in the newly named wr3ck3r's (originally named Wrecka level 50) spot and wr3ck3r (originally named Wrecka level 50) is completely gone. Sorry if it is confusing, but trying to be descriptive.

  5. I do realize that cheap is a subjective term, so I will further explain. This is only a character I would try and PL friends, or alts with. It is in no way going to be a main. For this build I'm not dreaming of being the king fo farmers, nor do I care what the power choices are. Since this will actually have limited use, I don't want to go crazy investing, but want to be effective.

So looking for any builds that people consider cheap, or may be a "use this till you get all your desired sets."

Thanks in advance for any time you folks spare. 😄
