[I feel my altaholism pushing in on me and I don't know what to do]

I have six characters, my highest level character is lvl 22...And I have three more waiting in the wings.

 

I was playing last week with some 50s...I want a high level character soooo bad!

 

But. But. BUT I love the powersets and the character creation!

I made a Sinestro-type character on live. I created him to RP with a SG called "The Cerulean Legion." The SG leader basically gave me a Cease & Desist...So I tweaked his concept.

 

Result: Nefarios Ghast

 

Ghast ended up being my favourite character.

[Clicky Status Protection?]

I was fooling around with costumes and concepts yesterday and I noticed that Shield Defense and Ninjitsu (for Scrappers) has CLICK Status Protection, rather than Toggle.  I feel like taking Haste would be a necessity for both these sets. How effective is that? What other defense sets have clicky Status Protection?

When I was playing CoH back when, I wasn't as involved in the horror community or Lovecraft. Now that I am, I see his influence everywhere - from First Ward to Sharkhead Isle.

I have a problem: I've made two Lovecraftian themed characters in the last few weeks. One is at lvl 21 - a Dark/Time Corr (Vathlyscz) - and languishing in First Ward. Another is a new Dark Melee/Bio Brute (Collective Soul) - Leveling in King's Row. Both are Villains.

 

Anyone else made some Lovecraftian characters? And if you see me wandering around, say hey?

I have a Psi/Ninjitsu Stalker right now. Huge altaholic though.

[Why no villains?]

All this boils down to one fact: People will always prefer to play the Hero.  Villain-lovers have always been a niche population.

[Energy Melee?]

I ran a EM/WP Brute before shuttering. He was badass. Nigh unstoppable and could stun even the biggest, baddest Hero! Nothing more satisfying than stacking the stuns and getting that one hit that knocks down all defenses! Great soloing and for PvP.

 

Whirling hands is great; don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Especially if you slot to increase stuns with IOs. Also looks great while flying.

I like to think of it this way:

 

There's a specific combination of powers that fits me perfectly, but I don't know what combination it is. I'm going to experiment with different combinations until I find it. Plenty of stuff will feel fun, but nothing yet has been QUITE what I feel like I want, and so I'll keep trying until I get that perfect combo.

Part of it, too is concept. I have to be really invested in the power combo and concept.

Like most people, I bounced around shards the first few weeks. I have a lvl 10-20 on most shards. Finally settled on Everlasting. I now have two lvl 20s - a Hero (Mind/Psi Dom) and a Villain (Dark/Time Corr). This week I'm working on my Villain Warshade.

 

Here I am at work, considering a Psi/Dark Stalker, a DM/Energy Brute, a Psi/Bio Brute, a....

 

When the game was live, it took me a few years to settle on a "main," though I did have a few alts. How do people do it?!

I started with City of Villains, and I ended (at shuttering of old CoH) with a Villain.

I'm playing a Dark/Time Corruptor (lvl 20ish). I notice Dark/ misses a lot, even slotted with ACC. I'll also second slotting for holds and sleeps, rather than damage.

/respec will allow you to respec your character as long as you have respecs available.

 

• Spending an hour in Pocket D will grant you the Pocket D Teleportor for free, don't buy at P2W.
   
  
• Supergroups are free and base building is free, you can create a SG or Villain Group at level 1. Here are their locations.
   
  
• Typing /AH will bring up the Auction House as long as you aren't in a SG Base or Mission.
   
  
• Typing /Who_All will allow you to see everyone in the current zone unless they are hidden via global friends privacy options.
   
  
• You can find the P2W Vendor in Atlas Park here, the Vendor is also here in Mercy Island as well as here in Nova Praetoria. There is also a P2W Vendor in the Galaxy City tutorial, just outside the map transition to the boss sequence, next to the trainer NPC. source
   
  
• You can send emails in game through your global handle across shards. Example I can send 20m inf from Torchbearer to myself on Everlasting by using my global handle.
   
  
• You can level past 50, it doesn't give you any increased stats or combat mechanics but you will gain Emp Merits and Incarnate Threads along the way. You can earn these and Incarnate experience by doing pretty much any content now, it is not required to do Incarnate Task Force.
   
  
• You can disable XP in the options menu to increase your influence gain significantly, this is a pretty decent trade off once you have your incarnates or if you don't care about incarnates immediately.
   
  
• At lvl35 you can access Epic/Patron pools this was not always the case. Heroes and Villains can access both pools now all you gotta do is switch sides. You can do this instantly via Null the Gull a Seagull in Pocket D, he is standing on the Truck near the Villain side entrance.
   
  
• You can do some other things at Null the Gull like auto accept Mystic Fortune buffs.
   
  
• You can check your influence via Menu then scrolling down to ID or clicking Power tab > Combat Attributes > Base and scrolling to the bottom. You can then right click on Influence and choose to Monitor it which will bring up a small Influence tab that remains on your screen at all times unless you choose to turn it off. You can monitor other things such as recovery, regen, movement using this same method.
   
  
• There are Enhancement Unslotters which can be used to take valuable Enhancements out of your build w/o respecing the entire thing.
   
  
• Enhancement Catalysts are a tool that can be used to upgrade AT and Event specific Enhancements to Superior versions and/or Attune IOs.
   
  
• I tossed up a quick tip video while typing this.
   
  
• also vidiotmaps will make your day much easier badge hunting, did you know you get merit rewards for completing exploration badges in each zone?

According to Positron (from ParagonWiki):

 

Lower level IO's are strengthened around that of Training Enhancements, mid level IO's are about the power of Dual Origin Enhancements, and IO's level 25 and above have about the same punch as current Single Origin Enhancements. Of course the power of the Enhancement is better with level, so high level invented Enhancements are slightly more powerful than the equivalent SO.

 

So my advice on common IOs at least would be to grab some as soon as you can at level 10, then maybe upgrade every 10 levels after that, so that you can feel the value of the incremental improvements, but not be wasting tons of money on enhancements, like you would be if having to replace TOs/DOs/SOs.

 

I recently used Merit Rewards to purchase SO's at lvl 20. They help a lot. And I don't waste Inf

[Most and least played power sets/archetypes?]

I suspect that, due to complexity and later maturation in the leveling process, AT's like warshades are less frequent. They really need keybinds and a good understanding of just how powerfully they scale to harness their true capability. That said, my Warshade is my favorite AT, and I had to unlock it the old fashioned way a decade ago, by hitting 50.

 

Stuff like this makes me want to focus my time on my Villain Warshade just to be in that elite few.
