    A disposable character wouldn’t be collecting that many badges and whatnot worth saving I imagine. Maybe if someone had a farming account they wanted to grab badges on then transfer off to their mercs MM?

  3. I’m surprised nobody went for field with the KB. I’ve heard that charge is effectively a worse version of other pools but I don’t think that alone makes it worse than others. Heat’s lack of armour has been a point whenever it’s brought up and that makes sense. I’m interested in the statement that fire would be top *but* it lacks armour. Is it really that heavy?

    Including the Mastermind, that's a 13 man squad+fire team.

     

    Sad that it would take doubling the quantity of Pets to bring Mercenaries up to PAR with other Mastermind primaries ... but it would also be a kind of inverse to Gang War in that you'd "permanently" have double Pets out, instead of only occasionally like Gang War (assuming you don't have Gang War recharge on perma with Thugs).

     

     

     

    Actually, now that the idea has been broached, I'm seriously thinking that a permanent 12 Pets summons for Mercenaries might be the simplest, easiest and dev time "cheapest" solution to the problems with Mercernaries underperforming.

     

    Why?

    Because ... Quantity has a Quality all of its own ...

     

    With Mercenaries, it's not about the INDIVIDUAL soldier ... it's about the TEAM ... and how the teamwork WORKS ...

    I previously suggested that we replace serum with a permanent “reinforcements” summon thing. I was told that “zerging doesn’t fit mercs.” Here we are with the mercermind. I’d honestly be quite content with your suggestion being the reinforcements button instead of that useless serum but if this is what it takes then so be it.

     

    edit: or just flat out increasing summons as you said.

  5. I’m not sure if it’s good or bad that having an AT that’s just a rip-off of mercs MMs with twice as many henchmen is still balanced. Mercs are just utter garbage, and that’s me being polite. Terrible damage, terrible survivability, honestly the only things that this set offers are extra bodyguard (which we all know will last 10 seconds before your pets get wiped) and heavy ammo. That being said, however, if making this heavy ammunitions thing is too hard I’d still like to see the AT with some generic copy pasted epic pool (just as the powersets were copy pasted from mercs lol).

     

    Edit: I just realised... the availability of secondaries might need to get adjusted to normal secondary levels as opposed to being the exact same as primary.

    Doesn’t that make necro third? I get the idea though. I repeat... utter garbage. They aren’t even as survivable as them.

    In all seriousness though, mercs are the joke of MM. Even ninjas can actually do stuff, and they die almost immediately. Only problem is that there’s a long way to go to get to this. Nice to see that medic’s abilities are more like protector bots. Not fair that *they* get all the fun.

    This is a solid explanation... I guess the badness of other melee based pets may have rubbed off onto the opinion of beasts.

    Which is weird since the numbers show they have the highest single target DPS, plus being melee exclusive has its own perks as well. The passive buff is supposedly great, too! Them being melee means they should be relatively easy to clump together for the sake of AoE heals/buffs.

  11. A few things I’d like to say before we get to this:

    1) I posted this under archetypes because I wanted more than just masterminds to respond to this. I also wanted others who saw a mastermind on their team to give input. Which powersets make you groan or feel sorry for them? Which powersets make you get all excited and expect great things from them?

     

    2) Don’t think of any specific combinations of powersets, or any specific roles. Which powerset just tends to be the “best” overall? Ones that could really go well with any role at any moment? Ones that don’t flop or make you want to kick them off your team? In the event that you cannot choose just one, I have enabled the option to select multiple powersets for both polls.

  12. Anyone here have a costume file for mercenaries' medic (mastermind) with both upgrades? I'd send a screenshot but I can't find one online and I'm a tad early to get that ability.

    Edit: Don't think medic is possible. Anyone got a T1?
