Stealing an idea from the Gravity Control Pet changes on beta.

Similar to Sonic: Disruption Field, which anchors a AOE -30% resist debuff player. Great for sticking on the tank.

Grav pets are now pulling mobs to them. A reverse Repulsion Field field.

Have it anchor on the aggro sink to help keep mobs clumped.

If Repulsion Bomb kept its damage and knocked mobs into a pile, that would be a unique and fun mechanic. Right now mine is slotted with kb->kd just to avoid mob scatter.

Upping the KB scale for Force Bolt and making it knockup instead of knockback would also make it a better soft control power. A Mag 2 stun proc would also be cool.

Again, anything to make FF better would be superb.

Sorry, but to be quite honest...

No. I dislike almost the entirety of all the suggestions of this thread for just some simple reasons...

#1 This is a support set. This is not a control or a blast set. I don't see the purpose for turning TWO of the powers into blast set 2.0's, also it borderlines on being ridiculously overpowered for controllers. Hard no vote. At that point, you've nearly made another blast set. The only reason most people likely want it is to get some extra damage from their controller containment procs which isn't what the developers likely intended or would've intended to do for this set.

#2 This is a set that people have played and enjoyed, therefore I think it's wrong to take away Detention Field's aspect of possibly permanent intangibility if that IS what the player desires to do. They don't want a nerfed toggle version, I certainly wouldn't and I oppose this change. This is a part of "enjoyment" rather than functionality. Also, for lots of people, the T9 AoE repel is desirable for its massive size???

How about instead of trying to improve the damage of a support set, how about you improve its offensive amplifications.

Instead of improving the damage on Force Bolt how about it does a -20% damage resistance in addition to its regular effect?

How about instead of improving the damage of replusion bomb, you add in -20% resistance to that too? Or -def so that you can slot an Achilles in the power and get some juicy proc opportunities?

Maybe add +to hit on the AoE defense power or an interesting damage proc like Electric Affinity?

I love the idea of FB and RB doing a res debuff, especially if a portion of it were unresistable so it could still be effective against AVs.

Basically anything to lift FF up would be an improvement. At end game, so many melee heroes are already near maximum def/res, and bubbles do little (or less) to help. AVs shrug off knockback (and most other debuffs to be fair), so FF has a very diminished end-game role. FF is great through the mid levels, but that’s less than half of the game.

FF already has a deficit of solo-friendly powers. So anything that both helped the team and was still a benefit while soloing would be great.

Make the FF attacks actually attack, and implement my KB damage changes and itll have a niche again

It’s time to pass a wakie to this thread again!

Can we please buff FF to make it the “damage-dealing” defender set? Just scaling up Force Bolt and Repulsion Bomb would make FF more competitive, and it would follow the “least surprise” rule.

I mean, I’d be even happier to hear “we are reviewing the whole power set”, but a little love is better than none.

Not to subvert your suggestion @greenbodice, but I just would like to share with you the command:  /showbind [KEY]

I make regular use of the command, and hope that it helps you in meeting your needs as well.

THANK YOU! I have looked for this in online guides and never saw it, but that’s exactly what I’m looking for.

  5. As a player who commonly runs a small number of binds on a large number of alts, I’d like to print the current value of a bound key.

Currently, if I type /bind button4 there is no output or any indication that a value is bound to button4. Nor does it alter the existing bind.

I suggest the default behavior for /bind [key] should be to print the current bind value to the console. This will let me see what is bound, and then I can also use copy/paste to easily update or alter the bind.

  6. After a six month break, I’ve returned and started playing my Ill/FF again

Here is the simplest thing that would make FF more competitive:

    * Make force-bolt damage equal to a blaster tier 1 blast. This is a huge bump, but would let FF contribute more to parties via damage (the most important thing in the game). Increase the end usage and recharge time to offset the damage increase.

    * Increase the repulsion bomb damage to be equal to a blaster AoE for similar reasons. Recharge and end usage are fine.

ForceField can contribute more to a team, especially at end game, by doing more damage. This also makes FF more solo-friendly considering its deficit of debuffs and self-buffs.

it’s a simple change. Can we make it happen?

This is actually a good point, and gets back to the core problem with Detention Field: it's not team friendly.  I personally can't remember the last time I've actually needed an AV taken out of a fight of while we dealt with the rest of the group.  I think the whole idea of an "AV hold" may be us chasing the wrong shadow.

So I think I'm back to "change Detention Field to a regular, small-AoE hold so that it's useful on small teams" because on large teams you're just not going to need it.

Detention Field is fantastic in the Miss Liberty Task Force when facing multiple AVs.

But then again, most teams doing that TF bring multiple brutes/tankers, and the cooldown on detention field means the level of control isn’t that great anyway.

The problem with controllers is that locking down an AV makes the fight not that fun. Now, is there any power that actually knocks down AVs or Monsters? Because a power that affected AVs like Force Bolt affects Bosses would be kind of amusing, especially if it had a secondary effect like recharge or damage debuff.

  8. As an Ill/FF main, I like the idea of buffing damage for FF. Before the endgame, Force Bolt is a really nice soft control power against bosses. In the end game its not good. But making it equivalent of a T1 defender/blaster damage scale would be nice.

The one major change I’d make is to have PFF work like Elude, but on a much longer cooldown and maybe with a lower defense magnitude.

Oh, it might be fun if Force Bubble could also slot Taunt...
