  1. Figured out the issue! Hold onto your seat because I have proof that I'm an idiot! 🙂

Apparently Win11 does NOT come with DirectX installed like older versions used to! I downloaded a game on Steam that requires DirectX and when it detected I didn't have it it automatically downloaded it. (Steam is my Bro, takes good care of me. XD )

Booted up the game on my laptop...using a wired connection, so I will have to test it wireless, and it popped on no problems and ran great! Thanks for the help folks!

This is my thought as well.

    One possibility here:

Are you just going straight through the wifi?  Or are you using a VPN?

If you're going straight through the wifi, yes, a super-strict policy.
Note: A lot of hotel wifi is somewhat locked down since they're extremely SHARED bandwidth and games can be VERY "noisy" on the network.

Suggestion: Try a VPN client to mask your traffic, and see if the game will route out the VPN instead.

I have been thinking about getting a VPN anyway, do you have any suggestions?

Does the game work on *any* connections, with that laptop?  It'd be a good idea to tell if it's a connection issue vs a laptop one.  Can you go to a coffee place or maybe a public library - anyplace that has an internet connection you can try.  Wired, if available, would be the best way to establish a baseline...

When I go home Friday from work I Can plug it in to the internet there. If it doesn't work with 1.1gb wired it isn't a bandwidth issue. I'm pretty sure it's something w/ this laptop though as I've logged on from hotels before w/ my desktop and the game worked fine outside some rubber banding.

    Hey

Are you playing on Wifi? Make sure you have a strong connection, if so.

Also, this sounds like an issue that's been plaguing Excel for a while now; Are you having this problem on all shards?

It's hotel wifi but it should be stable enough, I've used it plenty before. Shards? None of the servers work if that's what that means. I tried all of them. I'll be able to troubleshoot better this weekend when I have access to my home network.

    Thanks for responding.

  5. Okay, I play Homecoming on my desktop and it runs just fine. It is a custom build running Windows 10(64). Problem is lugging it around to use while I travel to hotels for work is a pain.

So this past weekend I bought a brand new gaming laptop. Asus designed by a company called Republic of Gamers. Off the top of my head it is Windows 11(64) w/ a Ryzen7 6000 series, 16gb DDR4, 1T SSD, Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050TI. It should run CoX just fine.

I installed the HC Launcher, DLed the game, verified the files and logged in. All smooth until I try to click on a server to play. Then it just sits on the "Retrieving character list from X" until the server stops responding and times out. Hitting the "back" button generates a "are you sure you want to leave the que?"

I have tried turning off all antivirus, running as admin, checking my network...I don't know what else to do and I'd REALLY like to play CoX after work without having to drag my desktop to the hotel w/ me. I can't help but think this is a Win11 issue.
