  1. Colonel Comet The Comet Federation was one of the most influential powers of the galaxy. Or it’ll be, since it’ll take a few centuries to become a reality. Its motto, “eternal vigilance is the price of true justice”, was the fundamental stone that supported all creatures who enlisted, trying to uphold justice wherever they were. Colonel Sylvia Saxx was a noteworthy official of the Comet Federation ready to rescue some miners after an explosion on Laka III, but a teletransporter accident sent her to a strange and yet familiar world, one she would learn to be Primal Earth -- different timeline, different universe. -- Suddenly, she was stranded here. As she sworn duties and vows applied wherever she was -- and, even, whenever she was as well -- she decided to join forces with the heroes of this world to promote justice and, generally, do good. Someday, somehow, she’ll return to her own universe, once again helping the Comet Federation to fight against the Clockwork Rebels and keep the peace on the galaxy. Until then, as the superheroine known as Colonel Comet, she'll do her best to protect this reality. Looking for: allies, rivals, and everything in between. Notes: Inspiration for Colonel Comet came from watching Star Trek: Deep Space 9. There’s an episode involving Ezri Dax and a rifle (trying to keep this spoiler-free) that gave me the idea for the powerset. And Colonel Comet’s uniform came from Kira Nerys, as I couldn’t find a good match for a TNG uniform on the character creator.
  2. Allium Daughter of a bank clerk, Tana Towner displayed athletic prowess since her earlier teens. This allowed her to enroll on a prestigious school due to sports scholarship, and she soon became one of the youngest Olympic-grade amazons, mastering horseback riding, unarmed combat, and her favorite: bows of all kinds. She travelled all around the country to compete, but whenever she could she returned home to hug her father, as he was her model figure, even when all those superheroes received the attention of the press. But during one of the most important archery events of the year, the bank where her father worked was robbed -- and as an act of heroism, the old man tried to fight the bandits by himself, before the PPD or even the heroes were able to reach the scene. The security cameras recorded everything, even the moment when one of the Hellions used flames to end her father’s life. Tana’s father was a hero, even without superpowers. Plagued by guilty, she abandoned the athletic event circuit and decided to use her skills to avenge her father. She wouldn’t be able to bring him back, but she could prevent crimes like those from happening. Choosing the flower her father liked most as her nom-de-guerre, Tana Towner took her bow and arrow and decided to patrol the streets, becoming the one and only Allium, the crime-busting amazon. Looking for: fellow heroes to be allied with, nasty villains to fight against, maybe some romantic partner. Notes: I’ve played little with Allium so far, as I was not that fond of the Archery / Martial Arts powerset I chose -- don't get me wrong, it’s a powerful combination, but I was expecting something akin to DC’s Arrow and the build didn’t reach that level yet. Oh, another thing: as I’m not a native English speaker, the original name I’ve chosen was Lavander, as I’ve erroneously mistyped Lavender. When I noticed the error, I’ve discovered Lavender was already taken, so I opened a catalogue of purple flowers to find the new name. Allium sounded good, and the flower reminded me of tiny arrowheads, so Allium it was.
  3. Seedsprout Jennifer Jensen learned the Druidic arts when she was just a child. Brought before a master of the Circle of Thorns, she became his apprentice, honoring the nature the best way she could. Her life, however, changed when her master decided to make a sacrifice of her in order to appease the Old Gods and receiving her blessing. What she thought it would be her final initiation ceremony became, all of sudden, a macabre ritual. Yet the forces of nature shouldn’t be tampered with, and the ceremony was interrupted by some kind of ancestral being who used thorns to kill everyone present but her -- Jennifer's innocence was enough to spare her life. Alone in the woods, communing with nature, she was properly initiated in the ancient mysteries by forces beyond her comprehension, but one thing was clear in her mind: she needed to use her newfound knowledge to fight the good fight. With nature as her main ally, Jennifer faced the task before her with pride and honor, becoming, that night, the heroine known as Seedsprout. Looking for: heroes to serve as their sidekick, villain lackeys to fight against, and leads to defeat the Circle of Thorns. Notes: After creating a Controller, I wanted something focused on melee to feel the thrill of the unrelenting fight. When I first wrote Seedsprout’s bio, I didn’t even remembered the Circle of Thorns was a thing, and I used a generic moniker to identify the “druidic order”, but as soon as I’ve fought some CoT, it was clear who her nemesis was.
  4. Tundra Girl In a village in the lands of the north, the young Laura Lux was always considered the weird one by her friends, listening to the cold winds, talking to the fleeting snowflakes... And, as she reached womanhood, she discovered the very snow would answer to her will. She was gifted. And she was also called a witch by her fellow villagers. Forced to flee to the northern wastes, her survival was doubtful, and it wasn’t a surprise when she almost died alone... something prevented by a figure of local legend, the Tundra Witch, an old woman who was born with similar artic powers. Taking the young Laura as a student, she helped her master the cold around her, harnessing the fury of the icy landscape. Yet there was a long way ahead of the girl. Someday an oil company laid down huge pipes that torn the wastes apart. Tundra Witch fought them, but perished before the overwhelming force, apprehending the girl and sending her away, back to civilization. Finding herself in the strange Paragon City, Laura decided to honor her savior by taking the name of Tundra Girl and fight against all oppression, hoping someday disrupt that oil company any way she could. Looking for: fellow heroes, allies, villains as rivals, and even mentors. Notes: Tundra Girl was my first character after returning to the game. I didn’t put much effort on the costume or even thought much about her powers, as I was simply trying to emulate a witch from a forgotten northern land.
  5. As this is my character roster, I’ll include some details and notes about each one. This will help other players seeking connections, and even inspire others to create their own chars (or alts, as alternate characters, in the game lingo). I’ve even created each char’s own first issue comic cover! If you wanna meet in the game, my global handle (aka username) is @Fermmoylle. And if you prefer to talk about these supers using Discord, feel free to contact me at Fermmoylle#5091. I’m not picky with themes and I like to play along if the roleplaying is good for all involved -- and, having said that, if you are still unsure, just send me a message. Oh, by the way, if you see me in-game (on Everlasting) lingering beside you, I’m probably reading your character bio or admiring your costume. You are welcome to say hello and chit-chat.
  6. Have you tried using a command like this? /vis_scale 5.0 I'm tinkering with cel shading and this helps a lot in minimizing distant object popping in.
  7. For those who use cel shading, which settings/options do you enable? The default settings seem to be a little off and before I start trying to find an optimum setting, I'd like to know what you use (screenshots are welcome too).
  8. I haven't found the cause yet (but I know it affects different alts). However, I've found a remedy: as soon as I realize the glitch, I alt+tab to any other software, then I alt+tab back -- done, glitch's over. It may reappear in minutes, but as long as I keep away from the chat menu, I'll be safe.
  9. Thought about that as well, and tried to press SHIFT over and over again as well. I even checked my Windows Keyboard Config to see if there was some problem coming from outside the game. Strangely enough, I have only one bind that uses LSHIFT, but it was not used in any of the occurrances of the bug. EDIT: I've even tried to use my LSHIFT+LBUTTON (which is bound to teleport), but this works as normal while the bug persists.
  10. For the last three or four days I'm having a strange glitch (I even asked in Help in game and I've saw two other players complaining about it after I asked, but I read at least the first 7 pages of this forum and I've found nothing about it). Bear in mind I'm playing extensively with a particular character during this time (Arachnos Widow, now currently at 25) and I don't know if this bug is related only to that alt. I'll play with another alt today and report the problem in this thread if this also occurs. The bug has manifested while playing solo and while in a team. The bug is temporary, but here are its effects: W key stops working for forward movement. I know the game still recognizes the input as I may enter Options > Keys and set W for anything. It was not a lost bind, as it displays as it should (forward movement). On the other hand, UP ARROW can be used for forward movement without problem. I can't use any glowies, doors, elevators: the mouse pointer does nothing on everything but menus on LBUTTON. If I click ANY menu and move the pointer to any part of screen outside the menus, the pointer shows a target reticle as if I've used an AOE power. Clicking on the screen makes it go away (but doesn't do a thing). Using ESC or Z to CANCEL the power removes the AOE reticle, but the other problems persist. If I click inside a menu and move the pointer, the AOE reticle appears again. Related to the previous problem, with or without the AOE reticle, keys 1 to 8 now try to select a Team member. If I press the key that matches my current position, I receive an error: "Cannot target yourself" (or something like that, as I'm away from the game now). I can't use ANY powers that target enemies, so I can't even Brawl if I must. I say the problem is temporary because in a few minutes it returns to normal, with no warning or anything like that. In my experience, using chat for a continued time (usually spent saying sorry a lot of times OOC to my fellow team mates) speeds the process. What has caused the issue, as far as I can tell: Clicking the EXIT button of a mission (I even binded F9 to quit mission thinking it was the only cause, but to no avail) and moving the mouse away from the Nav menu. Clicking on the chat menu to type something and moving the mouse away from the Chat menu. Using a power or toggling a power off (it happened with Mask Presence, Ninja Run, Sprint, and even Rest, all in different trays) and moving the mouse away from the Power tray. If I quit the game and go to Character Selection while the bug is active, the bug persists when the char is loaded (I haven't tried to switch chars when that happens, and I'll try that as well). If I quit to Desktop and lauch the game again, the bug disappears. Last night was the worst offender. It was a medium-lenght door mission to free a captive. Everything was normal, I got the captive, and we needed to lead her to the Exit. I needed Rest, so I clicked on its icon. As soon as I moved the mouse away from the Powers tray the bug started. I was the one who saved the captive, so she followed me. When I got to the elevator (using LBUTTON+RBUTTON or UP ARROW) I couldn't click on it. My team mate was patient and we waited a little, then the enemies respawned right on top of us. I managed to teleport away, but my team mate was down. I used Mask Presence to leave the immediate premises, the captive stop following me, and I moved far away. Eventually the enemies surrounded the captive, my team mate recovered and managed to defeat them, and (as the captive was now saved by him), started following him. He led the captive to the Exit and the mission was successful. We lost about 20 minutes due to this glitch. About 3 minutes after I left the mission, the bug went away. What I think the bug does: Engages the use of a Power (I don't have and I don't know) that targets an AOE and, as I don't have such Power, it does nothing. As it's expecting a target, it accepts keys 1 to 8 to select team members, but it does nothing to them and I can't be targetted as well. Tried using this "Power" on enemies and friendlies alike, but LBUTTON doesn't target them. If they are targetted by a key (like TAB bound to target_enemy_near), the "Power" does nothing (but I can target and select Next and Previous targets without problem). So, any ideas about what's happening? As someone told me on Help channel, I could simply quit to desktop and go back, but imagine this happening during a Task Force or Strike Force (as it occurred already, but the rest of the team was able to proceed while I tried everything to return to normal). EDIT: I haven't found the cause yet (but I know it affects different alts). However, I've found a remedy: as soon as I realize the glitch, I alt+tab to any other software, then I alt+tab back -- done, glitch's over. It may reappear in minutes, but as long as I keep away from the chat menu, I'll be safe.
  11. Thanks! So I'll add a few +Acc in order to have it always on.
  12. The wiki says "You perform a feint attack that deals moderate damage. After this attack hits, it gives you a large bonus to Accuracy and damage for a brief time." Does that mean the self buff to Acc and Dmg only applies if you hit ("After the attack hits") or you'll always receive the bonus, but only for following attacks?
  13. Wow, that's a very comprehensive answer! Thanks a lot! I'll consider all tips here, except for one: for RP reasons, I'll take Mystic Flight instead Super Speed. I believe I'm gimping myself, but RP is RP. So far, I'm level 3, so I'm still learning the ropes, and controlling a single pet is not that difficult. Let's see what the fates have to say about this.
  14. Ok, after a while I've decided to create my first MM and brave Praetoria. Bio (backstory) ready, costume concept in my mind (still need to check if it's viable), time to choose powerset: Demon/Nature seems to fit the idea -- it's a villain to two of my alts. Already got the binds and macros (I hope I can manage all that), and I'm about to launch the game, but first... What a first timer MM should know? What traps should I avoid? What are the best practices? Some knowledge take for granted that I should be aware of? EDIT: Another thing -- binding DIVIDE, MULTIPLY, SUBTRACT or ADD simply does nothing. The key is pressed, but it's not working (I know the key is pressed because I tried to bind DIVIDE to +forward on the Options>keybiding menu and it appeared there as "Numpad /", but even then it didn't work to walk forward.
  15. No problem. Thanks for trying anyway. At least we learned something. 🙂
  16. Don't EVER do that. I did, and the "+turnleft" part became auto, and I was turning in circles for a minute or two until I discovered how to disable it (just bind "+turnleft" again and use it). I've decided to simply bind the targeting part to both keys since I use the mouse to turn anyway. At least for now. If someone else has a better idea, I may bind the two commands together once again.
  17. I was trying to bind a key to do two things. It works, but it doesn't. The idea is to bind Q to turn left (as default) and also select previous enemy. And bind E to turn right (as default) and also select next enemy. It should be simple, as below: /bind Q "+turnleft$$target_enemy_prev" /bind E "+turnright$$target_enemy_next" So, I'm battling a few Skulls (sorry, I needed test subjects), target the nearest one, hold him (let's call him HELD), and then press E. What happens? For a moment I turn right, the next enemy is targeted, and then, less then one second later, HELD is automatically targeted again. If I press Q, another skull is targeted as I slightly turn left, and then, as before, HELD is automatically targeted again. What am I doing wrong?
  18. Thanks, Naraka and nihilii. It helped a lot to build the character concept!
  19. I'm thinking about creating a new alt and I have everything ready but her powers. The idea is crystal manipulation. At first I've thought in using Ice Controller (just change the ice color to something white and I'll have blocks of quartz enveloping my enemies), but I'd like to hear some suggestions -- it doesn't need to be a a Controller after all. By the way, no Icy Armor suggestions please: I really dislike its looks. So, what are my options? Which primary/secondary would give a good crystal look?

    Ice/Cold newbie

Thanks everyone for the input. You gave me the needed motivation to keep going with Tundra Girl. 🙂
  21. I've played CoH back in the day, mostly the solo campaign. Almost haven't touched the true game (online), but this is just a way to say how newbie I feel today. So, yesterday I've created my first "real" char. And, as it seems, I've made a really poor choice: an Ice/Cold Controller. To make things worse, I really like it -- but truth to be told, I haven't tried anything else. I'm at level 11 now. Should I start over with a new char or should I keep going? What tips do you veterans have for me? Is it possible to respec and change that "/Cold" to something else?
