  1. Not interested in deciphering what is a shitpost and what is just a shit post, much prefer to continue my 4-hour so far flowchart about frogs in D&D,

Y'all been told to be nice already, a second reminder shouldn't be required.

  2. 1. ASSUME GOOD FAITH. The devs do not have a dastardly plan to destroy the game, nor are they trying to spite you personally. Acting as if they do is not useful feedback.

    2. BE CONSTRUCTIVE. Going on about how the devs are idiots and you have the One True Vision for the game is not helpful; trying to engage with the changes and the reasons given is.

    3. BE SUBSTANTIVE. If you want to say how great something is and nothing else, there's a thumbs up react. On the other hand, if all you really want to say is "this whomps! you suck!", the thumbs down react exists.

    4. DON'T JUST READ THE PATCH NOTES, TEST THE CHANGES. Even if you're sure you are going to hate something, it's best to get some actual data from it rather than just go off a gut feeling.

    5. DON'T GIVE FEEDBACK ON OTHER PEOPLE'S FEEDBACK. You're here to discuss and debate the changes with the devs, not each other. The devs are big people (Huge, even) and can stand up for themselves.

Violations of these guidelines or the CoC will result in hidden posts; repeated or flagrant violations may lead to harsher penalties. We will be keeping a pretty close eye on any points of particular conflict, so keep these in mind.

This has NOT been my experience. Sure, there are the defiant jerks who - when someone tells them to take it to general - will start shouting in LFG about their freedoms and stuff. THOSE are the people I ignore, because I can't imagine a scenario where I would want them on my team or league. But by and large I have found that when someone asks people to move conversations elsewhere, they do.

Consider this little ray of sunshine from the last time I played:

And... it stopped. Absent @Neutrophil's short and polite message, who knows how long that little carnival would have went on in LFG.

What you describe is the classic shushing the shushers at a movie theater scenario. Pretty soon, as the theory goes, everyone is shushing each other, and if we'd all just ignored the original jerk in the first place maybe he (and you KNOW it's a guy, not a girl) would have just read the social cues of the room and decided to be quiet and watch the movie. My experience has been that rather than shush themselves, other people join in the conversation, like we see above until someone does come in and shush them.

I could give you several examples from literally everytime I have played over the past several days, I believe. It's routine. People get caught up in it, and it takes players like the one above who is brave enough to take the heat and encourage it to go elsewhere for it to stop.

I've said before that if I had the option to ignore people for an hour, without having to manually remove that ignore myself later, I would heavily use that feature. As it is, when I do ignore someone I document a reason for myself later, because I know that means that person may not be able to run stuff with me. In the example above, you would ask me to ignore something like 15 different people, 14 of which were just responding to a comment that should never have been put in LFG anyway. I wouldn't have a problem ignoring the instigator of this had he come back at the end shouting about "MY FREEDOM!", but he didn't - he respected the request and moved on. Because someone politely asked them to stop.

In the future if someone's going on like that, please send in a petition so the GMs can respond and make known that level of .. that.. Is not appropriate for any channel.

How long I last in a speed ITF is between myself and the 7 other people in spandex - and nobody else's business.

I'll also take this opportunity to point out conduct guideline #3 "Do not spam"

There's differences between spam, a quip, and a conversation relevant to the appropriate channel. Typically players will move on to general channel, or private messages, when told to take the lfg and help channel conversation there. If players continue to persist being off-topic (off-channel?) That's where the ignore function and sending a petition will be most useful.

The /timeout suggestion really should go into its own thread in suggestions and feedback, it's pretty buried here in this thread.

I honestly don't care so much for the S/L defense of blasters getting weaker. What I worry about are the sets that have defense to some types of damage, resistance to others. Such as Ice Armor and Stone Armor.  Combined with the massive +ToHit mobs get at the new higher difficulty levels, I feel this is a heavy blow to defense-based toons.

But this is all testable. I hope people take their defense toons to Brainstorm and see what they can do.

I feel like SLEN and SLEP def sets are going to be fine, as well as sets that can sit comfortably at the HP cap on Tankers.

Just by looking at the changes, my icers will probably die more often to en/neg damage, but that's going to just be me adjusting to using the barrier core/melee core on energy/negative mob and not just for psionics.

  5. I'd rather this thread be cleaned up of comments about users personal beliefs- and cleaned up of personal attacks rather than locked, because it does bring up how intentionally problematic Tyrant/Emperor Cole's internal thoughts are - and uses that internal dialogue to laminate him as a bad person.

That said continued personal attacks will result in actions taken, and a suggestions and feedback thread about NPC dialogue will be locked before it can fruit actually useful discussion on good ways to portray NPC's personal views while still fitting within a PG-13 game.

  6. This thread is going wildly off-topic towards confrontational, and needs to resume to actual discussion rather than antagonising.

That said, "How do we fix sentinels?" Gets discussed a lot, I'm personally on my 11th Ice Armour Sentinel and having a blast. I really want to see Sentinels not be so far at the bottom of the pack.

Further off-topic replies or replies against the code of conduct will be removed.

  7. While Homecoming has some changes the economy, from disabling double-inf-no-exp as an option, to ATOs/WinterOs being essentially gold destruction to take INF out of the economy, and seeding/fungibles on the market there are options for every play-style (Except maybe roleplay without costume contests/playing with AE editor only and not playing created arcs) to generate an income in this game;
OPs query got answered pretty early on in page 1 and 2 of this thread, While I'm not going to close this thread just because it's been answered, a debate on how farming, merits, and inf generation of different methods and playstyles - Such as solo merit farming vs market play vs farming vs team farming etc and so forth - is going to be much better suited for it's own thread (and own thread title) for that debate, rather than a player feeling they cannot afford things on their character and players assisting with advice.

    Keep being cool,

  8. ERP requires the consent of all parties involved, and is not permitted to take place on public channels, any ERP that occurs thus occurs in PMs, as per the CoC https://forums.homecomingservers.com/code-of-conduct/ if you see this happening outside of PMs, please inform them to take it to private messages where those who aren't consenting to be witness to it are exposed to the roleplay. Underage ERP is an offence taken very seriously and if you see or suspect it happening, bring it to the attention of the team - This includes not just the age of the players but the age of characters being roleplayed.

Ultimately, "Nipples vs ERP" is not the original intention of this thread, and rather than witness arguments over whataboutism, this thread needs to return to the topic at hand as the point of discussion.
