I assume the "Damage Cap Lowered to 5.0" means 500%.
I get that in terms of coding it may be written as 5.0 and not 500% but in the previous Topic it was written as % and all the CoH wiki websites use % (https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Limits😞

    Archetype Maximum Damage
    Brute 775%
    Blaster, Corruptor,
    Scrapper, Stalker
    210% at level 1

    500% at level 21+

all others 200% at level 1

    400% at level 21+

    500% is 5.0. They are literally the same thing. 500 parts per hundred = 500/100 = 5, the same way 75 parts per hundred = 75/100 = 0.75.

    New Story Arc: Bobby Curtin

I forget which mission in the chain it is (third, I think?), but one mission sends you to a Circle of Thorns cave on Thorn Isle, but the mission door is not on Thorn Isle. Given that other door missions with specific locations do spawn at that location, you might want to move the mission or change the dialogue to not mention Thorn Isle.

  3. First and foremost, I would like to see the fundamentals that have been running for months remain. Same database, same code base, etc. I'm pretty sure I couldn't take starting over yet again; three times would be too many times.

After that, new content would be nice. Having the incarnate system finished and the storylines that were going to go with them could be fun, so long as it wasn't all locked behind Raids (the PS team saw the wisdom in doing otherwise eventually). New costumes and powersets also count as content. 😄

If the servers could continue to be funded by community donations, rather than subscriptions and microtransactions, that would also be nice. The community seems to have been able to provide more than enough without having to cut off people who can't afford anything.

  4. About make up that needs fixing. Would you consider making a SECOND version of those that does NOT include lip coloring, some time in the future? I rarely want the same color on the lips as I do on the eyes.

I wonder how hard it would be to give the makeup face skins a two-colour option, with one being the eye makeup and the other being the lip makeup?

  5. I too, greatly appreciate the hard work you've put into the game. I'm curious is there a way to unlock some of the old movement powers (ninja run, animal run?) In the game?

These powers are, by and large, acquired from the P2W vendors in the tutorial zones, Atlas Park, Mercy Island, Grandville and Firebase Zulu. They appear as a $ on the map labelled "P2W". In Nova Praetoria, the vendor is "T4V".
  6. There's now the First Ward and the Night Ward, which allow Praetorians content at higher levels (roughly 20 to 40).  But I've also heard (but not confirmed) that Praetorians should still leave Praetorian, become either Heroes or Villains, then return to First Ward and Night Ward.  The reasons weren't made clear and I've yet to find a more authoritative comment.

It's because Praetorians remain locked out of content - like access to red/blue zones, Ouroboros, tips - until they do the transition. I do not know whether the transition can be delayed or not.

(Interestingly, Praetorians do not seem to be locked out of Super Groups, though that may be related to the fact that Super Groups no longer care about side/alignment. The only access to a base they have would be through Pocket D, however.)

  7. Since most of the posts thus far have been from people objecting to the name policy, allow me to post in favour of it. It is extraordinarily fair; if you can't log in your level 1 name reservation character once a month, you really ought to have the common decency to let someone who would be more invested in the name use it instead. "I got here first" is a really poor reason to allow resources to lay fallow.

  8. I wonder which side of this political divide loves the hyperbole more?

I'm pretty fond of it in moderation, but man... 100-200 vs 8?

Probably not much hyperbole, actually. Unless you don't want to trust the guy that ran a server for six years:

The missionserver, as its called, is a separate piece of software that stores the mission data as created by players. It does use some resources, but that part is not a big deal. Once you start an AE mission, it's loaded in a mapserver, like any other mission. They are not treated any differently.

The problem is that players can build missions that are a lot more resource-intensive than normal missions from the game. When enemies spawn in normal missions, most of them have their AI in an "idle" state until they are aggroed, which doesn't require much processing power. But most AE farms rely heavily on ambushes or patrols, which spawn the critters with fully active AI. And that's the problem.

Missions are run on 9 servers with a total of 224 cores. For the most part you can run lots of zones and missions on a single core without a problem; but AE farms tend to max out a core all for themselves. If there's just 100 AE AI-intensive farms running, that eats half of the mapserver processing power for all 4 shards.

  9. VirtueVerse is up and supported. Ransim is currently looking at upgrading it to the newest version of MediaWiki, though real life is making the process slower.

You can't upload images right now because the server is almost out of space, so uploads were disabled. Another thing being worked on.

If you check the site (It's virtueverse.net now), there's a link to a Discord if you need support.

  10. This was something the Devs wanted to do during live

Not entirely true. Positron was completely against full tailor customisation because he was afraid of people running around as Mastermind pimp and hoes. (Yes, seriously that exact example.) There was talk of maybe letting MMs "customise" their pets in a power customisation way, picking different skins for their pets instead of the default, but that never came to any fruition and was probably way way low on their priority list.

  11. I feel like everyone reading this thread should also be aware of this fact:

Wait, so I'm confused. Is the AE server a separate piece of software/hardware?

The missionserver, as its called, is a separate piece of software that stores the mission data as created by players. It does use some resources, but that part is not a big deal. Once you start an AE mission, it's loaded in a mapserver, like any other mission. They are not treated any differently.

If there's just 100 AE AI-intensive farms running, that eats half of the mapserver processing power for all 4 shards.

Farmers are not harmless. Farming actively robs resources from the other players.

  12. Since server stability is iffy right now, is it possible to somehow remove the 3-day timer on mission autocomplete? It would help people out from having to repeat long kill-all missions and whatnot that crash just before mission completion, and might also help out with other mission bugs I've been seeing in the Help chat and on the forums.

  13. Didn't we have this exact same fight on the live servers? And didn't the Paragon Studio devs eventually nerf AE rewards and force arcs to get dev approval before being viewed as "regular" content?

We had this fight. And the farmers lost then, too, because of the technical limitation of the game code. The game simply cannot take AE farms being run at any appreciable level.

  14. Now that we know one individual AE farm mission can use up an entire server core by itself, I view anyone that still wants to do AE farm missions as extremely selfish. You are not entitled to use up that much power just for your own personal use unless you are the one paying for these servers.

As a compromise, since I can sympathise with the desire to get to 50 and get back to Incarnate stuff or PvP stuff, perhaps every account should get 1 (and only one) token that would allow them to jump to level 50 immediately. I'm not sure how hard this would be to design, but I imagine it could be stuck into the P2W vendor or the merit vendors?

  15. What does unofficial pvp mean? there is pvp in atlas on the server?

It means the bulk of the PvP players have decided as a group to play on that server instead of others. It's not official because there are no server changes or policies from the admins to support it - it is just a community decision, so that PvPers can find each other easier.
  16. There was a problem discovered with the mapservers while doing the update. They are working on resolving the issue; servers are still down.

The Discord will have updates when they're up.

AE XP reduction, if permanent, is moronic.

I can understand it if your servers are getting crushed. That makes sense.

I understand that AE runs on a separate Mapserver from the rest of the game. So all AE is piled together on a single server, while the rest of the game has the content spread out over several mapservers. This is a technological limitation and they HAVE to disincentivise it until demand lowers.

These people are running these servers for free at great personal cost to themselves. Try to be less of a dick about the free stuff they're giving you. You are not a paying customer.

  17. While there are no server transfers, I just wanted to post to let people know, to ease the pain of transferring to another server, that you CAN send items (inf, salvage, merits, enhancements, recipes) between servers. It is, unfortunately, limited to one item at a time (yes, that means mailing 50 reward merits requires 50 emails), but it's possible. Just use the Email tab above the chat box, and send the email to your global handle (including the @). If you just turn everything to inf, you can send that all in one big chunk if you want.

You can find your global handle by going to the Menu and picking the option that is "Chat Handle".

You're still starting at level 1, but at least you don't have to start at 0.
