Just let stuff drop as a receipe.

You're in luck, this is exactly how it works.

But in order to prevent a high drop rate from being boring, the drop rate is kept lower.

And in order to prevent a low drop rate from discouraging players from attempting it at all, there are consolation tickets players can accumulate towards a GM pet recipe.

This, plus the GM changes to health, powers, etc serve the goal of attempting to make GM hunting more exciting and draw in players who have grown bored of the activity or weren't previously interested.

It was suggested I bring my comment from the main thread over here.

I don't think we should add another currency (Unstable Aether). In fact, I think we need to work towards reducing currencies. This is going to be another currency that sits in my inventory that I need to manage.

But that's just my 2 cents. I'll drop it now.

They want players to try Giant Monster raiding so there's a new incentive, they don't want the new incentive to drop too often so the rate is low, they don't want the low rate to deter initial fights so there's a consolation currency you can build up towards.  I believe this is the rationale.

Another change that I would like to call out that is more powerful than is obvious from the description.

    Placate's cooldown reduced to 35s

This makes placate both an offensive and defensive power.

First, you can easily get the recharge under 15 secs, more with Ageless.

    • Getting overwhelmed, placate
    • Ghetto taunt, or at least cause most mobs to start walking instead of running away
    • Placate half the spawn and deal with key mobs first
    • All this before even thinking about the DPS improvements

Quoted for MF Truth! This was how Bane VEATs were designed in the i12 Beta, originally. Placate had this shorter timer making it a versatile tool to compensate for their comparatively weaker passive damage mitigation stats.  But then it got Castle'd before live and the rest is history.

This is such a fantastic change.

  4. Are Devs open to the idea of changing the name of Category 5?  There are a lot of words for violent storms that evoke imagery vividly and I don't feel Category 5 accomplishes that same imagery very well.

Tempest, Typhoon, Nor'easter, Monsoon, Torrential Downpour, I find that any of these immediately inspire more power and command than Category 5.

  5. I'm curious if any experienced TA peeps have recommendations for proccing up Ice Arrow.  I'm assuming: Unbreakable Constraint, Ghost Widow's Embrace, Ice Mistral's Torment, Gladiator's Net, and Lockdown because who can resist getting that one-shot boss hold? Topping it off with a vanilla Accuracy IO+5.

Am I missing any better Hold or Slow category procs?

The 12% for 8s can stack on itself from the same source but the other portion needs to be of a different category?

The way I'm understanding it: it's the other way around.  Each Sonic Attack applies (and refreshes) that 12% for 8s debuff).

In addition to that, each attack also applies a secondary debuff that's uniformly weaker, though typically longer duration. These secondary debuffs are attack specific (for the most part) and stack independently of one another.  The tier 1 and tier 2 attacks' secondary debuffs have the same name, so instead of stacking, they refresh.

Relentless calls for people to be adaptable and have options to bring in various characters available to use from support, high dps, hard control or a beefy tank.  It's highly recommended to have the Destiny Core Barrier to bring, you will want at least a few and at minimum 4 people on Barrier duty if you want to do the special Vanguard fight.

Leadership powers are also well recommended.  Moving as a team with Maneuvers and Tactics powering everyone should keep the team chugging along.  I'll not go off on my own unless I'm on a high invisibility character and will rarely engage on my own because I miss so much more frequently on my own.

But I will say this has pushed me to be better on all of my characters.  On my dom I know Domination gets me a huge burst of +tohitt for 15s after I reclick so now I will wait to drop all my best control right after.

It really comes down to the lead assessing the team makeup and have options available of their own.  I have no problem PUGing one of these so anyone that feels up for some fun I'm sure I'll be running this often enough on Excel after the next update drops.

If you have a Tanker named Mighty Woman, I'm pretty sure I've been on several Relentless ASFs with you.  You do an excellent job explaining precisely what the team needs to do, you pay close attention to team comp, and you prompt players when to act.

Unfortunately, I've infrequently seen leaders do half those things and Relentless ASFs can quickly pick apart sloppy or unprepared teams.  My opinion is that this has lead a great deal of TF leaders to hesitate creating pug ASFs, despite the higher rewards associated with it.

I don't understand the joy in intentionally sabotaging a badge run.

Lower on empathy, higher on sadism, bored and unable to find a more constructive outlet because they can't confront their addiction to what's familiar.

  9. I dislike the IO set system more than any other item or equipment system I've played in any game.  To me it's: tedious, doesn't feel satisfying to pick up a single IO set piece or frankly even a set or two (you have to invest a lot to notice stat changes), doesn't allow me to leverage any new mechanics or abilities (I'm just a better "ball of stats" to slam against enemies), and it lead to the inevitable auction house that you have to partake hours in if you want to accumulate the large quantities of IO sets you'll need if you want to see substantial benefits.  I do however like procs and globals, slot one and it does what it says on the tin, no other researching, Auction House hours, etc. required to see it work.

I don't feel CoH was ever balanced around IOs, I don't feel it currently is, and I really hope Homecoming Devs don't make the decision to do so.
