Sorry, I don't understand what you meant by this

I like the levelling up process... so Breakout until 45-ish. I start to lose interest around 40 when toons get a bit OP... and this is even under hardcore/ironman rules. I do see them to 50 just to get a sense of closure.

I've got several pairings, except Necro and Thugs only because I can't figure out a concept yet. True, some are duds, but some are quite good. One of my 50s can take on a GM without breaking a sweat. Most of them, I've had to gimp by limiting the pets to just one tier at a time. I've got a petless one and one that doesn't train (so she's only got one slot for each of her 5 powers and no Rest)... but those are special projects.

I also tend to run solo, but will join an occasional SF.

As someone who has run a lot of MMs,  Live in '05 with Bots/Dark  etc,  yeah, masterminds scaling is broken.  You are okay up to incarnate level, but once you start trying lvl 54 stuff, or hardmode content, they fall absolutely flat unless you have a secondary that brings team stuff to the table(ie nature as an example).  Your pets are all but useless for damage/cc and can only soak a little damage for you if you catch a cleave.. Thats why i said doing 20 damage if super built.

Theres really only 3 playstyles for MM....melee pets, hybrid pets and ranged pets.  Once youve played one type to T4 incarnate, you know how all of them will play. Its just different graphics at that point and a slightly different distribution of enhancements.

The changes made to the old sets are a step in the right direction, but dont change any of the underlying problems with the class.

Take for instance,  T4 hardmode ITF....unless you are playing ranged pets and really no what you are doing, you seriously wont be doing anything with your primary. The additional content spawned there is 100% toxic to anything in melee thats not a player. And this is just the start of hardmode content.

I didn't know they were broken.

Am I the only one who enjoys each kind as they currently are? I mean sure each have their drawbacks some more than others, but nothing that cannot be worked around. I think it's cool that they all have specific strengths, weaknesses and nuances. I'd hate for them to start feeling all the same in the sense that if you've played one, you've played them all.

If there's anything to be fixed on MMs, I'd say start with customisation of skins. But that's just me.

Im not sure what content you are doing, but if you appreciate doing less then 20 damage, and that rarely, then sure....do lots of incarnate + difficulty lol.

Dont they have a base crit chance too? I have seen them crit when messing around at lvl 6...

No, they get pack mentality from the start.

  4. sounds like a review from someone with poor knowledge of game mechanics and IO sets tbh.

storm is very easy to use with some game knowledge, and is much cheaper to slot then it was in the old days. I have a controller set up with both storm and gravity and have zero issues running multiple tornado's and water spouts. Wormhole spammed as much as possible. Hurricane is always on except in instances where i know im not going to be needing it.

Defence is great!!!  Until you get streak break and die in one hit, or have all your pets die in one hit.  Try taking on a pylon or APEX hit with defence. I guess it depends on the content your running most often.

Ranged pets will always live longer then melee pets, on average. That being said, beasts have both the best defense and the best resists out of all the sets. easily verifiable by checking the numbers at lvl 50 in pines. Survivability of melee pets though is highly dependent on both set gearing and secondary/ancillary power sets. I only occasionally lose a wolf or lion even during Itrials etc as i built with layered mitigations in mind.

  5. Just leveled dual pistol/devices to 50.  Six slots in field op, 4 in health, 4 in stamina....and yes, you will still run out if you run the obligatory hasten.

DP attacks quickly in comparison to most sets, while the end cost is similar to most sets.  I have 2 perf shifters, miracle, convalescence, panacea, +regenerative and the fills for the rest of the slots.  And yes, still run out. The only time you wont run out is if your under the influence of an end buff from another player, or you have gotten agility/cardiac for your alpha(end discount).

Also, unlike most blasters you have to build to survive melee, because otherwise your  top tier DP attack will be mostly wasted unless youre in the center of a pack of mobs. To that end i run combat jumping, tough, weave, maneuvers, and body armor out of munitions...which is enough to avoid at least instantly dying in 54 content, assuming youre not getting trounced by psi.

Slot all the unique pieces from defense and resist, slot mez protections to get yourself at least to 40-50%, and fill the rest with set bonuses for recovery/recharge..anything else is just bonus mitigation. You will also likely need 1 steadfast or some other KB protection.

For attack powers, you can reuse the good sets...you can tell the good sets from the AH...they are generally a lot higher costed then all the other sets...the only things you cannot reuse are unique pieces, so bear that in mind when your aiming for set bonuses and where you slot your uniques. Take into consideration that when you make a set superior, that it often nets 50-100% again of the bonuses of the set.  Running two full sets of the blaster archetype sets is always good. for the most part, the arch sets were well constructed.

good luck!! (and spend some time looking through stuff on paragonwiki and the auction house before you start seriously investing).

  6. I can give it a whirl but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. I think this looks like it would have the DPS and Defenses, but I have no idea what I'm doing with enhancements!

    Ummmm...what?? No.

  7. The devices buffs dont go far enough if you want to bring the secondary up to par with new secondaries options.

    Smoke grenade still near useless

Gun Drone massively over costed and has many issues compared to literally any other uncontrolled pet out there. Please see the posting in Suggestions regarding /Devices again.

The changes to Time Bomb are a step in the right direction though, and it may actually even see play now.

The 30% recharge on Targeting Drone is completely justified because the whole set kind of sucks...it has 2 standouts, the rest are completely meh.  Also, i love how people compare with blinders on and totally disregard the other options available in blaster secondaries...

IMO this isnt about buffing devices in relation to snipes, its about making the set not totally suck compared to literally any other choice, and then being able to proliferate the power set.

  8. Well...i leveled a Dual Pistol / Devices / Munitions character over the weekend to 50, this was my 4th 50 character under the latest update on score.

    My thoughts:

Devices is largely supremely under powered compared to literally any other power set. While it does have a few standouts in Targeting and Field operative, the rest of the powers are unwieldy and in some cases unusable.

Trip mine cannot slot interrupt, which is really the major barrier to its use.  The damage on it is nothing special compared to every other secondary... so its mostly junk.

Time Bomb, just completely unuseable in any of the content at 50+.  Time to explosion, set up, and cooldown are all pretty ridiculous. Omega Maneuver totally outclasses it because Soldiers were implemented well after devices. In short, this power needs a complete rework in many stat aspects.

Web Grenade is just boring...visually its nice but meh compared to other entangles.

Smoke Grenade has been and always will be near useless in its current form as it requires accuracy, and is not anchored on the initial target.....the debuff is too low to really consider putting into a rotation....if the base % - to hit were higher I could possibly see a use. Might help if it were a targetable AOE as well.

My biggest gripe is Gun Drone however...Its supposed to be the signature power in devices, received at lvl 38. Well...it has ONE SINGLE TARGET power, every 5 seconds. It deals lethal, which is crap.. Its damage hovers around 130-150 with very few ways for a blaster to boost it and the fact that is costs 39! endurance and has a limited lifespan is just ridiculous .

My suggestions for Gun Drone::  Remove constant need to resummon it and just let it be a normal uncontrolled pet, give it two more powers to justify its stupid end cost,  update its primary power so that it functions like the narrow cone powers of dual pistols/beam rifle so it at least has a small chance of dealing damage to more then one target.  Update the model....i know some people may like the model and the sound effect but you can tell its old...old...old. It doesnt even have a good sound effect.

Munitions Mastery deserves its own thread, but yeah, its an old sub-par choice as well.

  9. Id also like to mention -Nature for the following points and assuming you are using the advanced mastermind binds.

Corrosive Enzyme:  -RES and DMG (-18%) for my toon.

Spore cloud: -To hit and more -DMG.

Life spores: Constant regenerates for around 75-100 per tick, plus can slot another perf shifter and all  the excellent procs from healing(chance to absorb).

    Perma-Wild Growth.

    Perma-Bastion.

    Near Perma- Overgrowth.

All of which are possible with the T4 Agility and all of which makes your poor Mercs perform  a LOT better then the old days.....

  10. Ive  observed that crit chance does seem to be related to level of your pet vs level of target after a lot of hours in Rikti warzone...the wolves almost never get a crit on anything, and its pretty much only coming from the DW at +4.

  11. It does, but the effect is low because I assume it's splitting the damage between your pets, even if one is summoned. If you're using training enhancements, the boost likely won't change on the numbers above their heads, but the combat log should be able to show results. I've not tested, but I also assume pets don't get the benefit of new enhancements until resummoned as well.

umm..no....damage is not split between your pets.  Its applied to each individual pets powers and can be clearly seen.

  12. The slotting on this is kinda bizarre, sorry.

T1 pets is always your dump stat, meaning thats the power you put whatever odd things in like the Defence Edict and Sov. Right resist...etc.  None of your wolves makes enough of an impact to slot a full set into it.  T2 and T3 pets are reserved for Sup Mark and Sup Command.

six slots on overgrowth?  Six on Fortify?  Two slots in hasten means you will have to work extra hard if not impossible to get perma hasten.

Your build is also kinda squish ...Relying on Rune to be up all the time. Id hate to see it trying to get through Apex etc. Gaussians Chance for build up on a build that doesnt have any attacks?

My aim for my Beast/nature was to have at least perma-Bastion + Wild Growth.

  13. While yes, that is a great idea, but the game wasn't programmed that way and it would take a great deal of code rewriting to change it.  It is not in the scope currently of what can currently can be done.  The policy isn't overboard and fairly reasonable considering the current situation of things.

How do you know? Are you a programmer or a Dev? Alot of things can be done these days with programming. The policy is fair in your opinion. To be honest I dislike it enough to consider leaving and I have heard some other people say the same thing already. I shouldn't have to be punished and have names stolen just because I am too busy to play a "login all my characters" game. That is just unfair.

Dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!:) Those other "people" can exit, stage left, as well and nobody will even notice.
