  1. Thanks! Also, eww. That was the main thing attractive to Dark. Soul has an equivalent, and I imagine if they're taking one away they're probably looking at the other.
  2. I just bumped a thread talking about Fire/Dark because I didn't know this one was also related. I personally found it to be a blast. I had a necro/dark MM back on the live servers and, thanks to bodyguard mode on MM, she was pretty much a tank. The combination of -toHit from Darkest Night, Fearsome Stare (slot for -toHit), and the Dark Servant is what really did it. The thing to look out for is when you're either punching up against 54's and sidekicked to 49, or up against an AV. Then they shrug off a chunk of the debuffs and I think the math is less favorable than if you had a similar amount of defense. I skipped the single target hold in my current Fire/Dark build. I do not intend to take it unless something goes wrong and I'm looking for a fix.
  3. I'm bumping this to see if anyone else has any further thoughts on this combo. I tried one over the weekend and loved it! The character got to 31 in practically a single sitting and felt pretty impactful while running through Posi 1 and 2 and Penny Yin. I do have a question. My thoughts are to grab what I want from Fire/ and /Dark (basically everything except the T7 and T8 /Dark), then pick up Leadership and my epic pool (Dark, Soul, or Mu). Most/all of my other characters also take the Fighting toggles, to the point that they feel like a power tax the way that Fitness did once upon a time. I'm thinking the debuffs on /Dark are strong enough that, when combined with Hover, Maneuvers, and eventually set bonuses, I should be okay without Fighting.
  4. I'm glad to find this thread. A Sonic/Dark defender is the result of my morning's thought experiment today. I was considering a Force Fields mastermind and then thought, "well, but the meta seems to be to add defense via IO sets and half the time I see FF come out it's just overkill." For the most part I'm coming at this as a melee AT enthusiast because those ATs do well solo and I'm unwilling to sit still while I wait for a team. But I do appreciate having a team oriented character as well and I had a Fire/Thermal corruptor back in the day. I think she could use literally 2 powers from Thermal (the AoE heal and the debuff) to directly help herself. Sonic/Dark would probably be more independent than that otherwise pretty low benchmark.
  5. I haven't tried it since picking up Homecoming with the announcement this month, but I did main a Regen scrapper immediately prior to the live servers being shut down. Regen scrapper took some work to make it durable back then. It was totally doable, even with mediocre IO sets and a limited budget. What worked for me was picking up the fighting toggles and other pool powers that help with survival a little earlier than I do for most builds. I rebuilt that character as Super Reflexes instead this time (it's more thematic for her) and that's working out just fine, too, but again with a slightly different build that prioritizes SR powers. By the way, I knew a Zergy back on WoW. Raided with him back in WotLK/Cata. If you're him... good to see you around!
  6. You should be solid and it should compliment the SR well with the to hit debuff on radiation infection. I currently play a StJ/SR scrapper and a friend of mine has always done a Rad/Sonic defender. He, too, loves the leadership pool, and Vengeance into Fallout specifically makes him cackle every time. The toggles in Rad are amazing and should compliment the melee, whatever AT he picks! You are definitely more of a buffer/debuffer. I'm tempted to make a Rad/Ice defender myself, I think it'd work pretty well.
  7. That ends up pretty close to what I was thinking of at least in terms of power selection. What made you take initial strike over shin breaker at 22? And how is the endurance once you have all the toggles?
  8. Bump! I am not expert enough on this to give advice, but I rejoined the game and I'm playing it and enjoying it well enough. This is the only mention of this particular combo that I've found and I'd like to know if anyone else has thoughts on it or a real build recommendation. To me, Super Reflexes seems solid once it's got everything online and slotted. It took a minute to get there, but not awful. Street Justice seems like it can hit pretty hard. The combo together seems endurance hungry, or at least it does compared to my old MA/Regen scrapper from the live servers.
