  1. A couple of zones were notorious for having radio missions choose an AE building for its door location (Faultline in particular), but I thought that this had been fixed a few years ago.

What shard, and could you give the exact mission name, please?  "Access the Arena matrix" doesn't ring a bell.  There's a Matrix room in the PI and Port Oakes arenas, but there wouldn't be any mission for that.

Also, see if you can drop or auto-complete the mission, and pick up a new one in the worst case.

I am a great big dummy, see Glacier Peak's post below.

So, I should have probably asked this question years ago. But I never did.

As I monitor the help channel, people ask what's the quickest patron, or easiest. BS is usually the reply. And some will add on to auto-complete the kill all. Me, I normally auto-complete the "Assault Malta Base" mission because I never asked the following question.

The wiki mentions the Zeus class titan and and the gunslinger as part of the objectives. When on 0/1 difficulty, it's simple to find the Zeus. But there are multiple gunslingers. Is there a trick to knowing which one?

I should add, normally I look for the gunslinger that gives dialogue. But this morning, none of them did, only the Zeus. There's like 23-25 goons in the kill all, vs 6 or so gunslingers, and the pesky sappers with them. Seems like a wash to me, when the gunslinger isn't talking. Unless there's some trick?

Turn bosses on while solo.  It will be the sole boss Gunslinger in the mission.

  3. The Homecoming population today is about what it was three years ago.  It's just more divided.  Excelsior's and Everlasting's populations are about the same.  Amusingly, what seems to have happened is that the populations of the three lower populated shards three years ago (Torchbearer, Indomitable, and Reunion), seem to have split a bit after Victory was added, so the three lower populated shards three years ago now have a smaller population, but Victory makes up for it.  The three lower populated shards became the four lower populated shards, but with the same total population.

But no, overall the population is about the same as it was three years ago.

  4. 1. Let them learn the game, but be available to answer questions that they have.  Push them to do the Outbreak or Breakout tutorial, depending on which side y'all decide to play on.

    2. X/Radiation Emission Corruptor.  You'll be able to make mobs easier to hit with the -defense from Radiation Infection, buff your friends' damage and recharge with Accelerate Metabolism, debuff the damage that mobs do with Enervating Field, and debuff the resistance and regeneration of any AVs or GMs y'all encounter.

  5. Just a reminder that this will be in one week, and we're still looking for one person.

So far we have a Super Strength/Stone Armor Brute, Beam Rifle/Radiation Armor Sentinel, Symphony Control/Marine Affinity Controller, Earth Control/Sonic Dominator, a Sentinel of some kind, Electrical Blast/Kinetics Corruptor, and my Thugs/Electrical Affinity Mastermind.

  6.  Howdy!

Steady Indomitable is about to start its third campaign on Saturday, May 3rd, at 3 P.M. ET/12 P.M. PT.  The plan is to run every Saturday for approximately two to two-and-a-half hours.

We will play gold side from Precinct 5 through Night Ward, and then make our way to the Rogue Isles where we will play red side through level 50.  We plan to run all gold side content (both Loyalist and Resistance), pausing XP at levels seven, thirteen, and eighteen.  All missions will be kill most/steamroll, there will be no speed running.  We currently have seven players including myself, and we're looking for one more.

Since we will be playing through all gold side content, and we're only meeting every Saturday, expect this campaign to take several months.  Currently we have a Brute, Controller, Corruptor or Mastermind, Dominator, two Sentinels, and I'm up in the air. 🙂

The only four rules are: no XP boosters; no speed running; you must disable XP at levels 7, 13, and 18; and have fun!

If this sounds like fun, feel free to join our Discord server here.

I love the Galaxy City tutorial.  And I like the voiceover too - no issue with it.  I much prefer this over the Outbreak tutorial, although I will give Outbreak this... it goes more in depth with explaining things, which can be good for very new players - provided they have the patience to read and learn.  But what new excited player wants to do that?  😄

That's exactly why the Galaxy City tutorial was de-emphasized with the Outbreak and Breakout tutorials emphasized.  They both explain the game better than the Galaxy City tutorial for players who are willing to read.  Plus, the Galaxy City tutorial gives new players a bad first impression of the game, thinking that the rest of the game is voiced like more modern MMOGs.

I think there's failure to look at the big picture here and/or putting all your eggs in one basket going on.

The CoH servers, all of them will die off. When? Can't say as im not sure. But they most assuredly will. There isn't even a guarantee there'll be more, or at least more of substance.

Successors, while on the surface look like they'd be superflous now, actually could very well be crucial down the line.

Not to mention that there's 25 years of technical debt in the City of Heroes code base.  Some modern computers (even ones with discrete graphics cards), struggle to run City of Heroes thanks to the game's technical foundations being so old.

I've repeatedly heard throughout the event that people shouldn't run AoE stealth powers like Shadow Fall and Steamy Mist because they interfere with spawn sizes. I have no idea if this is true or not (seems unlikely to me) but some people are convinced it is.

It's not a particularly exciting event due to all the lag, but it's a great way to get your incarnate slots unlocked quickly and earn a nice chunk of INF.

It's a myth that started back in the live days, although seems to have gained greater prevalence on Homecoming, especially Excelsior.  AoE stealth powers have no impact on spawn sizes.

  10. This happened to me right after defeating Jack in Irons a few years ago.  The Croatoa zone crashed and everyone in it was disconnected and rolled back a few minutes, losing the badge and reward merits.  I just assumed that it was Excelsior being Excelsior at the time, as it's not exactly the most stable of the now six shards.

  11. There's an ancient bug from very early on live that still exists to this day: If you enter an instance, there's a random but very tiny chance that the game will throw you onto someone else's instance... Someone's mission, an Incarnate trial, or even an arena match.  It's happened to me three times in the past 20 years, and it sounds like that is what happened to you.

    Sorry, that sucks. :classic_sad:

multiboxing is a blight and a pox ESPECIALLY when low-pop. it rewards players for being antisocial in an mmo, and punished players who want to find other players to group with. now that I know it's permitted here I don't think I'll keep playing.

You can already solo 95% of the game's content on just about any character.  There's very little content that you actually need a team for.  So what's the difference between someone playing one or three accounts while soloing?
