  1. Personally I would like to see a change in content a little. The Heist mission in the Blockbuster is actually fun and not just "go kill everything".. would love to see more like that as well as implementing other non-combat missions or even day jobs where you actually have to do something.. maybe a secret identity system as well for perks.

  3. So recently started getting bored with some of my other illusion and had never leveled a /Dark one before. 

    Other than some rough patches in the 20's, it's amazing even just IO'ed.

     

    Now I am keeping certain things for theme (mystic flight for instance) so I know/aware I could squeeze more defense out but don't think I really need to at this point. 

    I was just curious if you can see, outside of anymore purples (Even the ones listed are going to take me awhile) any ways to improved damage overall or gaps I have missed?

     

    Also so far I have played up to 40 without Darkest Night and honestly hate/loathe anchors but it will be in the build toward the end but if you can think of something else I could use

    in place of it, I am all ears. I wanted to stick to a general theme a bit but overall rounded/built for practicality. I tend to hover/fly on most of my builds and this one has been a joy and once I get the tarantula, my army will be complete...

     

    Edit: Also I know Shadows Fall + Celerity = Superior Invisibility. I have it as a mule for LotG and those times when I team and Shadows Fall interferes so situational without sacrificing defense. I ran the same setup but with Group Invisibility and found Superior Invisibility less annoying.

  5. So I decided to finally level/build my Plant Dom and wanted some feedback on this. I tend to stay in range, hence the range softcap but so many toggles will make this an end hog.   6. Here is a variation on the "Live" Bots/Traps build discussed in this thread (Crafted in updated Pine's). Power selection and order all the same. It adds KB protection, additional recovery, and additional haste (near-permanent hasten) at the expense of some HP and Regen. The lost Regen can be made up with more up-time on double-stacked Triage. Other than two slots, it avoids boosted enhancements (one recharge in hasten and one LotG Def in Force Field Generator). Somewhat more expensive with an additional purple set and more MM ATOs. It retains defense softcap without relying on Protector bubbles.

    So you know it doesn't rely on the bots for defense cap. The bots are extra.  Just reverse the IOs to blank set and click everything off and you will see defenses are zero.

     

    But I am getting an error on the import both ways and would like to see the build.

     

    I recreated the build from what was listed.

     

    I swear this isn't a epeen competition but I do look and compare.

    Your short some numbers in defense cap. 44 for melee and 47 for AOE.. Can be fixed.

    You are also taking a hit not only in regen and recovery but also accuracy and damage bonus, by a lot.

     

    And the recharge rate is only fractions of a second faster just look at triage beacon on both builds and compare. 

    You do have some higher resistance numbers.

     

    I can't see the cost for for these IOs if your not really getting anything greater out of it.

    My build is about 100 million. Your triage beacon is 120 million.

    It's funny because this was almost my exact build but for Demons/Traps that I remember basing on both you and Dech's builds back on live and was able to solo pretty much every GM except the FF one. Im building my Bots/Traps now because I never fully took it to its prime. I am just trying to squeeze in the photon grenade for stuns and want to go with another patron set like Mu.. I feel like I can still get it to that level without sacrificing anything if I just tweak it a little.

  7. So I am still debating on provoke tbh since I have ran an old MM without it perfectly fine though it does help draw a bit more. For mine, I built it fairly close to Plainguy's but also took some points from others that I had built and came up with this. Not much of a difference at all but I like to be a bit more hands-on with builds. I wish I could fit in Aid Other.

  9. Greetings!

     

    After many years under my main, Professor Straenge, I ran the gambit in rebuilds. He started out as a Storm/Dark Defender eventually being re-made a few times before finally settling in Dominator. I started working and building up the Dark/Fire before the shut down but was never able to get him to his full potential, until now.

     

    I am still working on this and looking into advise. I have tested various builds/frankenslotting and I think i may have come up with something viable.. Just curious on opinions or advice as this is all Pre-Incarnate.

  10. It's funny because I have one that always does that and had originally named him Tweedle DumDum but it was Bot 3 of the tier 1s.. and even still he feels wonky. Takes the weirdest ways to go anywhere and always shoots people in their face. Part of me wishes I could turn one of the Protector Bots into a babysitter for him.

  11. So I decided to spend an hour playing around with this on my bots/traps and tbh, it is definitely a YMMV power... its situational at best. The only way I could see it being viable is sending a minion in to take one for the team and hitting them with engulf as they enter a group. Then throwing caltrops or some other aoe slow/immobilizer.

    But even so there may be better options available depending on your build since each round of fire only last a couple seconds and you may only get 3 rounds of it. You are better off picking up Bonfire from the Fire Mastery though.

  13. As for the AOE Defense, it really depends on your primary. In Demons for instance, I put it in Hell on Earth. In Thugs, Gang War. It works based on the Caster (yourself). Keep in mind it isn't a chance of.. it's a full AOE defense cast.

  14. So I am deciding on if I want to rebuild and was curious. I am considering slotting thematically somewhere Sorcery and tone down my defense a bit for more offense. This build I was pretty beastly overall and took down at least 3 GM's solo but AV's caused me a few hiccups. Any advice would be appreciated. My slotting is a bit odd but it worked so well.

  15. So I used to have quite a few MM's but not as familiar with some of the sets as others as I stuck with Bots, Demons and Mercs. I had others but focused mainly on those three and built as GM/AV solo'ers. I remember the old threads about petless MM's and the scoffing at taking attacks while arguing the debuffs were minor.

     

    Personally, I build around concept and optimization but also my playstyle. I am a micromanaging blaster that utilizes strategy more than anything else. I have always taken personal attacks and kept at least the one or two that had the better secondary debuff. For instance with Mercs, Burst has pitiful damage but it has -Def that helps a bit with their Lethal only damage. I also fit uniques in when possible like chance to holds. Same with Demons -res secondary on the whip attacks. Instead of building for damage like a blaster, I build around balance but making the debuffs stonger as well as pulling aggro, especially on those builds I couldn't fit Provoke in.

     

    I think it really just depends on playstyle and what you want vs atypical number crunching stacks. But you can do both or you can just go with a theme and build around what you feel like doing. I knew an MM who made it to lvl 40 petless... how I have no idea and even they said they would never do it again. I also knew one who only took the T2 and 3 Demons. But Demons/Traps is so good anyway that you have more wiggle room.

     

    I always explained to people what you have fun with is the most important and if you want a godlike build based solely on the numbers, you can follow the cookie-cutter builds that are still around and if it makes you happy, that's ok too. But I think how you play and what you want vs trying new things can work as well. I have yet to do much with Necro or Thugs and never made it past 20s with either on live so I may change that.

  16. I only had a few incarnate level 50+ chars and one of them on live was an AR/Fire/Mace. It was the only AR I got to Mastery and tried a couple but settled for Mace. Like you, mine was thematic and considered my options but was able to justify Mace Mastery (RP wise, it was just another of his inventions).

     

    The Web gave a bit more aoe control and the shield helped with defense and I even picked up and enjoyed the three spiderlings who did surprisingly well on both teams and solo considering their limited use. The Scorpion Shield also is a good place for another Luck of the Gambler.

  17. So I am attempting a rebuild of my old AR/Fire blaster that I used to run but with a bit more damage/defense balance and was curious about opinions. I have yet to really use Sorcery in an optimized build and really want it to work in this if possible but I may decide to respec out of it later.
