You're looking at it from the wrong direction. Make it a toggle, and change its mechanics from just a big boost to healing to an effect like how Spectral Wounds works, but reversed — when you get hit, you take whatever damage gets past any resistance you have, and it queues a delayed effect that 'instantly' heals you for an enhanceable fraction of that damage. So, for example, you might get hit for 250 points of damage, and a second or two later, heal 100 points from that. But because it only affects each incoming hit once, it becomes comparable to resistance and defense, each of which only affect an incoming attack once.

You either do this or like a staggered effect with the damage you take. So damage you take is split over 5 or so seconds instead of all at once.

I get kind of a kick when I team with one of my very small number of tanks.  Some have taunt, some don't.  I'm an awful tank, insofar as I don't run around tracking seeing which idiots are aggroing whom; I just smash and tanks have the absolute best damage to survivability ratio out there and it's not even close.  Someone actually asked me, "Why are you such a good tank?" and when I was done smashing enough to reply I asked, "What the hell are the other tanks you play with doing?"

They probably play with tanks that forget to turn on their toggles.

  3. Howdy folks. I was wanting to give dark melee a whirl but can’t decide between /ice or /stone for the secondary. I have a concept for both. Which would you choose?

It wasn't Thunder Kick, it was Storm Kick. Used to be a really long flurry kick ending with a side kick. Animation time was about 4 seconds, which made zero sense. It was changed to the spin kick in i3 I think.

Other things that have been changed from legacy:

    - Cobra Strike dealing good damage. It used to do very little.

-Dragons Tail going from a cone to a pbaoe.

-Storm Kick giving +DEF on hit to Brutes/Tanks.

-Eagles Claw giving +DAM on hit to Tanks.

    I knew I wasn’t crazy! Thank you!

I don't recall that animation for Thunder Kick, maybe you're confusing that with Claws/Swipe or Spines/Barb Swipe which did something similar before being altered to be faster and more natural looking.  Spines Paragon Protectors still use the old animation for Barb Swipe if you want to see it, and that animation was also used in Claws before the change.

I do remember those but I swear martial arts had a version of it with kicks.

It really depends on what you want to do with the toon. Both AT's are good for this combo (Scourge + Disentegrate can be fun). If you want to be something of a hard-target debuff specialist, then I would lean towards a defender (Beam brings some decent single target -res). For soloing/casual play, I'd personally probably roll it as a corruptor (I'd want my attacks first and that Scourge/Disentegrate combo), but you could make it work with a defender too.

Just gotta figure out which powers you want first; your beam powers or your rad powers. And if you plan to team, take your debuff toggles because they're awesome, but don't expect to use them much in regular play. They're most handy for if your team encounters a hard target that can't be nuked down quickly.

Edit: Also, you may want to think about whether or not you want to take Choking Cloud; Beam can play in melee, but it tends to be more comfortable ranged. If you choose to take it I would learn to get comfortable jousting or skip both of the cone attacks in Beam (imo, the second one is skippable anyway since it's an extremely small cone and takes forever to get it to line up proper so it'll hit more than one target).

Which do you think exempts better? I do plan on running a lot of TF’s with this character.

  7. Greetings, I have a concept for a mad doctor/scientist using radiation/beam rifle. I can’t make up my mind on whether to make it a defender or corruptor. Would scourge work well with beam rifle or should I just stick with defender for the better debuff/buff values?
