Gatekeeping sounds like a thing around here, but what exactly the folks you referenced Gatekeeping? It's a suggestion box. Intended to drop cool ideas for fun commentary. Many of these folks come off as angry, toxic, and snarky over nothing more than a grain of salt opinion. This game is easy mode now vs before AE. If they don't like it I get it. But why some stick around being shady after the fact? I won't say any names, as I'm sure you've spotted them many times over on the forums. Perhaps it's best for me to avoid the forums. Haven't engaged in chat since Arcanaville, and Werner live post on Regeneration.
-
If it falls in line with anti griefing I'm all for it.
-
Interesting.. I can count on my hand how many folks I've seen over 1k in badges. They're out there, but not like that. I've seen the community actually shun badge hunters in the chat.
-
Nothing has stopped you, or many other players from pulling up on mobs knowing your build isnt in order. Knowing you're not a brute or tank. Knowing you don't have soft cap defense. I'm not following.
-
They won't get rewarded if the mode is off. They will be in normal mode. Only one in a "high risk, high reward" situation is the player with it turned on.
-
Also, only an idiot would turn on that game mode when they have no clue as a new player. It would be no different then turning on +4 ×8 at lvl one. Your argument is unrealistic. CoX community test EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN FROM TOP TO BOTTOM before any final implementation into the game.
-
From all those situations you mentioned. It sounds like those doors are already open. Everyone isn't a toxic player. Least of all CoX.
-
So the tank is "lazy " because you ran left on a solo mission, when the team went right? I only mean defeat consequences. Your convo went somewhere else, so I'll leave you to it.
-
Ah! I remember the rough days of the Hollows and I loved every minute of it! It brought value to my first experience with CoH, and an attachment to my first toon. It was an accomplishment to survive reaching lvl 20 and not delete a toon! Yeah, I was here before AE. That debt made me work even harder! Maybe that's why I'm so attached to Regen secondary. 😅 Yes, the game is "easy mode" these days and thats great. I just wanted the option to have pineapples on my pizza this time.
-
What I'm saying is I want consequences. I ran in before the tank/brute and got dropped. I got back up, but I have a broken arm now for my actions. Battle scars from a well earned victory. I'll get better, but my foes won't. Let me port to my SG base so I can recover faster. Hospital equipment can't fix my kind of injuries as my physiology is to complicated, or impervious to their tech.

"This option opens the door for great rewards for heroes who play in this game mode." In case you missed it.
-
Nothing forces you to play in that mode. It's no different then turning on a perma death mode. You can still play however you enjoy.
-
Woah! I don't know who that is, or what PoE2 is. This is a suggestion box where I dropped a suggestion. It wouldn't "punish" anyone. As I've already stated it's a game mode. A choice. Nobody is being forced to do anything. If you don't like it, thats cool. I can respect that. What I don't respect is toxic/witty/snarky banter. Implying I'm some annoyance you've had to deal with just because I dropped a suggestion is asinine.
-
I personally don't think so. Many in game are not badge hunter extremists. Most folks are in the 300 to 500 badge range. To many alts on deck. I get what your saying though. Ty
-
That changes the narrative, but ok.
-
That's a strong assumption, but I wouldn't bet on it if I were you. You could have saved all the "extra" commentary, and lead with last sentence. Thanks!
-
Its optional. You don't have to join a player using that mode.
-
Nothing like quitters leaving in the middle of TF because they were defeated for being reckless. Their needs to be some kinda badge for that behavior. I'd like to know beforehand who is who. Badge title: The Quitter Description: "Your reputation has finally caught up with you. Many heroes are now reluctant to team with you. The stories about how you've deserted other heroes in crisis permeates at the mention of you codename. Badge symbol: A raccoon with its "tail" in the air. Ten quits will earn you the badge. That is more then enough wiggle room for an emergency.

Running through mission is "easy work" when you have nothing to fear after defeat. Oh look, I click the rez and get back to my feet, as if I wasn't just on the brink of death! Their should be heavy penalties for not only repetitive use of rez in a missions. But stacking debuff for multiple hospitals visits. Regenerative powers/enhancements could receive more value, closing the gap on the mitigation scale. They could target these specific debuff, lowering, or flat out negating the time it takes to recover. Something resistance and defense couldn't do. These are some examples of the debuffs to name a few. Concussion: Recharge debuff and protection debuff. Endurance debuff. Broken Bones: Resistance debuff. Damage debuff. Lacerations: Constant DoT debuff. 3rd degree burns: DDR debuff. Healing debuff. Damaged Armor: Endurance cost increase for toggles. Poisoned: Regen debuff. Maxhp debuff. End debuff. Each could be tied to a specific damage type. No, all debuffs wouldn't hit you at the same time. For example. If you were defeated by a toxic attack, and used rez. You would be hit with the Poisoned debuff penalty. You would receive ONE of the debuffs from poisoned category for a time frame. If you fall again to toxic attack, you get the next random poisoned debuff, and the timer increases. Every hospital visit becomes less effective as you're not following the doctor's orders. Health restores at lower increments every visit 100/75/50/25. (Opens the door to sophisticated Super Groups medical equipment regular hospitals don't have.) Team wipes should come with a penalty as well. Did your team of 8 get squished by the map? All enemy mobs will receive a buff making their resolve stronger! Now that I think about it. Why isn't their a team wiped badge? This option opens the door for great rewards for heroes who play in this game mode. X3 xp? X2 influence? Think of it as a "hard mode" for Pug or solo gaming journey. If team leader is playing in this mode. A prompt should appear, informing you about his settings.

Right, but what about the post? Yah or Nah?

I take it you didn't read the post. They're just random powers that could be pulled from to make a cybernetic option.
-
1) Single Shot 2) Empty Clips 3) Targeting Scanner 4) Nano Repairs 5) Plasma Rifle 6) Plasma Blade 7) Missile Drone 8)Portable Shield 9) Enhanced Optics 10) Cybernetic Body 11) Auxiliary Power 12) Power Cell These are some of the powers that could be apart of a cybernetic power pool, If we had such an option. Some may come off as OP, but I'm just throwing ideas out there to see if something could potentially stick. 1) Single Shot: Same t1 from dual pistols. Sometimes you just was shoot, or to fit concept. 2) Empty Clips: Same t3 from dual pistols. Guns are more common and many heroes use guns as an option outside of hand to hand or powers. 3) Targeting Scanner: Same as the Bane ability that opens up attributes menu on targets with 10% debuff to res. 4) Nano Repairs: Gives a "heal over time" effect for X amount of time, with a 10% defense debuff resistance. Assisting your defenses, while minor repairs are in effect. 5) Plasma Rifle: Same effect as the War Walkers plasma rifle, but it's an energy/smash snipe that can KD and apply -regen. 6) Plasma Blade: Similar effect to that vicious "Victoria" blade attack, causing energy/lethal damage, with a -regen effect, and high crit chance. 7) Missile Drone: A drone that can fire volleys of AoE missiles like Malta heavies. Can cause burn/toxic damage and a chance to make targets barf. Blows up after three volley attacks with an AoE explosion damage causing KB or stun like GWW generator. 8) Portable Drone: Similar to the "Grant Cover" effect from Shield defence, but provides 30% endurance drain resistance, and a 15% hp absorb to members in range. Can't be enhanced. Won't follow. Maybe a 10 to 15 sec window before it expires, granting +10 to all positional def for 5 sec. 9) Enhanced Optics: Similar to the temp power IR goggles. Your enhanced optics grant you enhanced targeting and perception. (I love the FX for IR Goggles. Plenty more uses for such a great looking effect). Definitely a toggle. 10) Cybernetic Body. The ultimate sacrifice to go beyond your human limits. Let me get the "bad" out the way first. Health is hit with a -400hpmax debuff. I'll just leave that right there. Ok, now for the good. You get 2.0 to all status protections. -15 endurance discount. +40 psi res. +25 toxic res. +10 res to everything else. +50 to damage. +8.25 recharge. +10 DDR . +75% regen at yellow health. +absorb at red health. This will be an auto power that can't be enhanced. Stats remain even when you de-toggle. 11) Auxiliary power. When your life bar reaches zero. You will not fall, as your Auxiliary power kicks in granting 1000 +absorb. 12) Power cell. A secondary endurance system designed to support your bodily functions. Provides a scaling endurance reduction, and scaling endurance resistance the lower your endurance is. Auto power. Can't be enhanced. Just a few powers to spice things up. All ATs will not have access to all options. Yes, the first two have nothing to do with cybernetics, but are very welcoming powers. The rest are in no particular order, just a list of options. What say you?

What if Regen gain the ability to fight beyond the 0 HP mark? Instead of just a revive ability. We also have an option called "Damaged Vitals" as the alternative while alive. "Damaged Vitals" grants you an extension of negative HP beyond 0. It could be a % of Maxhp, or the equivalent of +absorb numbers for scrappers and brutes to simplify things. It also changes the effects of Reconstruction, Dull Pain, and IH. Clicking Reconstruction only gives 100hp up front, and the rest comes in a 10 tick, heal over time effect. Dull Pain auto reduces all damage by 50%. IH becomes Instant Regret, granting Brute max damage cap. Scrapper and stalker attacks remain in 100% crit state while "Damaged Vitals" is active. All debuffs convert to heal over time effects. If you're defeated while "Damaged Vitals" is active. No revive abilities or inspirations will work on you. Once you reach 1HP. Recon, DP, and IH return to normal, but are only half effective until revive power recharges. It's the penalty for having to use such a drastic ability. What say you? Too much seasoning, or is this cooking at the right temperature?

Just something to add a lil flavor to our defeats. Nothing like some "battle scared" face option to choose from. Cuts, bruises, burns, closed eye, busted lip. We could add it to one of our costume slots. Kinda like a "yeah, I completed the mission, but didn't walk away clean" sort of thing.
