I am saddened that this type of person(s) is on our game. I hope the 'host's' contact info was put out there - mass ignores are one step is getting rid of these types of idiots.

Thanks for your comments. My client did not log chats so I'm out of luck...but thank you Ehnea for remembering Kemet Goddess was the one looking at both our costumes and our bios. If I see the player online again I'll get the SG that player belongs to and will share it here.

  2. Okay, those individuals who hosted a fake CC on Torcherbearer and made everyone stand around in Atlas Park for 90 minutes for nothing are not what this community represents.

How do I know it was a fake?

*The winners were not announced in broadcast or request. We were told they were privately notified but no one fessed up to winning
*The contest went for nearly 90 minutes.

*The contest started on the spot and not at the usual top of the hour.
*The hosts did not lock people who were late out of consideration. In fact, 15 minutes before the contest ended they were still judging new arrivals on the spot.
*A screenie of the participants were taken but a link was never shared to individuals or publically posted. This implies a snapshot of the people who were scammed and had their time wasted.

I am going to check if my client logged chats during this event and if it does, names WILL be named.

  3. Okay so I went into the D and let people know the Donation window was still open. Many were not aware the window was still open, thinking it was already closed because they saw no Admin message. Two players said they would donate after I told them.

This is just my humble redsider option so take it with a grain of salt but maybe a "sticky" message at logon might help put more coins in the piggy bank?

To be pragmatic, this may be a signal to start tightening belts so to speak on the offerings of the game, such as starting to consider the number of servers being hosted or other things such as looking into other services that may provide same/better needs for maintaining the game.  The bulk of the costs are OVH, after all.  It may be an unpopular consideration but wants do not always equal reality in these situations and something more sustainable perhaps may need to be considered.

My understanding is that the servers are virtual rather than physical, so even running with Everlasting alone at the expense of other servers would not make a big difference. Correct me if I am wrong.

All four North American shards in Canada utilize the exact same hardware.  Having one North American shard costs the exact same amount as having four North American shards.  There would be no cost savings merging shards.  Per Number Six a couple of months ago, merging shards will not happen since there are no cost savings to be had, it would just create headaches with SG bases lost and name conflicts, and some people prefer playing on quiet shards.

I stand corrected on the expense.

    (a lot of good points!)

I agree with the idea to merge shards. It was a given that eventually the population would start to decline once the novelty of having City of Heroes/Villains back wore off. There are only two very active shards and the other shards are an unnecessary expense. I'm sure the RPing nature of Everlasting will not interfere the ability of players who do not RP their ability to play the game.

  7. Donated $10 US (which is probably $13-something Cdn). Not too bad in terms of progress. I expected it to be not as far ahead for the following reasons:

    * Thanksgiving (US)

    * The Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend.

    * Increased cost of living that we all are grappling with.

  8. Hi.

When is the due date for reaching the target donation amount? We are doing really well raising donations considering this is a Black Friday / Cyber Monday weekend, but the spendfest could also slow donations.

I already donated $10 US dollars as I do each month. ☺

Didn't beat last month's record of 3 minutes 30 seconds (I think it was), but done is done. 😉

My opinion, but the reason why it took longer this time around was the following:

    * The announcement was in the afternoon, where people are out and about. I got the notice at 2:30 Eastern Time. In the past it was either around noon or the evenings, again my time.

    * The amount has been steadily increasing which makes sense. The infrastructure is expanding and more development is being tossed into the pool.

    * It's September. Kiddies are back in school, people are back to work, and household budgets are going to rise. This may delay the donations from coming in.

    * Miscellaneous stuff: were players doing RP? TFs/SFs? A mission like I was doing and might have missed the Admin notice if I was in the middle of a scrap.

    * The most important thing to remember is that the donation target must be filled before a deadline. I don't know what the deadline is. Is it the same day as the announcement? Is it a week from now? Is it at the end of the month? No matter when the deadline is set, as long the target is reached before the deadline, we are fine.  It's not how fast we hit the target, what matters is that we hit it. 🙂

  10. I've noticed over the past week a sudden drop in network performance while connected to server Everlasting. This happens both during off- and on-peak hours.

Symptoms include rubberbanding and animation stutter of cars and people. Clicking icons is delayed by a few seconds.

Netgraph reports a very high latency of between 2 and 5 seconds (between 2000 and 5000 millseconds). Some of the bars appear yellow or red at times. I'm not noticing these latency issues outside of gameplay.

    System vitals:

    16 GB DDR4 Memory

NVidea GeForce GTX 1050Ti with latest driver.

    Intel Core i7-8750H 2.2Ghz processor.

Operating system is 1903 build of Windows 10 64 bit.

256 GB SSD and 1 TB Hard Drive.

    Some theories I might have:

    * Priority setting for both the 32 and 64 bit clients under Task Manager reports below normal. This means other background tasks may be stealing processor time and causing an artificial lag.

    * I've heard of some reports regarding Windows Update messing up the 1903 build, which includes WiFi. I'd like to try a direct connect but this laptop does not have a network Cat4/5 connector.

    * New GeForce driver reportedly causing some headaches with tearing (but nothing to do with performance).

Sone fixes I've done with no success.

    * Switching off RealTime file scanning under McAfee.

    * Running Safe Mode

    * Dumbing down graphics to low quality.

    * Running registry cleaner.

    * Reinstalling on the SSD (note on installation guide: it says the download total is 5 gig. Might be more since we have the Beta now as well to install. Wish we could opt out of the Beta install and just download the active build).

I used to remember hearing about parameters one can pass to the program during Live. I am not sure if they are supported under Homecoming.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

I'm sure their is an edit following this (forgive me for being so quick to respond), but you have a problem with one of the models, and are not on board with the other 2?  Basically, don't like any of them?

The edit already happened. 😄 ....I forgot the word "not".

    Truly, I am an idiot.

Subscriptions?  F2P Model? Microtransactions?  Who knows, but they will need a revenue stream to support themselves...

I would not have a problem with a subscription model. Anything else, particularly a model similar to Star Trek Online or Champions Online would be something I'm not on board with.

We're aware of the issue and will let you know what to do as soon as there's something to do.

Thanks for the notice. At least I can breathe a sigh of relief. I thought it was on my end!

This is when Steam games come in handy. Kerbal Space Program Time! 😄
