  1. Some start in MIDs, some go with the flow at first before MIDs.

Atlas Park mission line -> Kings Row mission line -> The Hollows up to Frost Fire. That is usually enough to know the character. Sometimes I dislike that power sets completely, the combo of them, the concept didn't work out, or whatnot. I regularly play around with new characters, delete, try new, etc.

But I never go to 50 and then wonder what I am doing. If they pass Frost Fire and I like them, then they get a MIDs for sure if one wasn't already in place. This is around level 16. Sometimes I will go further to about level 22 where I start collecting enhancements.

  2. The quick and dirty...

Husband and I will be making two characters that will always be together. I would like to play a Martial Arts / Super Reflex character. He will play a corruptor.

I am torn between tank and brute, but unsure and could use some advice on which would be better for all in game content. Would also like some advice on a synergistic corruptor set.

Not looking for builds, just reasons to go with one or the other. Thanks!

  3. You're gonna get more xp out of having fun than trying to min-max difficulty in missions. A lot will depend on your character design. Some characters I have really excel with a single hard target while others do better with a lot of weaker targets. You'll need to fine tune your difficulty based on your character and playstyle.

  4. Eh, I simply do not agree with the idea that the game should be balanced based on soloing x8 +3/4. If this was a post about how a full group of lvl 50 characters couldn't handle lvl 54 content, it'd be more relevant. I have felt for years that end game content in CoH has been vastly too easy akin to nuking fish in a barrel.

I welcome difficulty, but definitely can agree that annoyance =/= difficulty.

Requested many, many .... Many times. The flying animation is difficult, as it's part of the power itself, not an easy change. The closest live devs got was flyposes that only work if you are continuously flying, the moment you stop flying you revert to the standard flypose when you start again. No keybind satisfactorily works innately where you execute a variation when we you move with flight.

If I recall, the fix is not just changing the animation, due to how flight works as a movement power and the pose built into it. That was on live, there may have been significant enough changes under the hood to allow code updates that can effectively allow flight to now have alternate animations.

    Devs?

Some good information here! I'm a software engineer and really enjoy hearing about how things are programmed. I definitely know how infuriating hearing "Its just a few lines of code" is or when people assume something should be super easy to do!

  6. Unsure if requested before, but...

Just like how we can now alter our innate walk animation, I'd like the fly pose options to be selectable at ICON. They are really fun, already in game, and would just be nice to have.

  7. To each their own. People can door sit all they want, and farmers can decline such people all they want.

I normally level through storylines, sometimes DFB then storylines and find it relatively fast enough.

Sometimes I get a character to 50 and am like "Oh wow, I do not like this secondary power" and have to start all over. When its a combo of powers I have done both of before, I don't mind fast tracking a character by joining a farm or what not.

In the end, that's me and everyone can play how they choose. Some enjoy the leveling journey, others do not.

  8. Crappy teams do happen. And worse, diffusion of responsibility is totally real. Go in on a TF with a toon that is a little sub-par at the moment, I am sure the rest of the team is okay and we'll be fine... turns out we all thinking the same and BAM sub-par team struggling lol.

I always try to focus on the task at hand and target enemies I need to etc. but I don't always know everything and a lot of content, especially TFs, is rather new to me. But, I pay attention and listen which goes a long long way.

  9. OP should invest in using Invention Enhancements at lvl 25, can slot them at 22 and are a terrific bang for your buck. Other options would be to actively participate in fire farms to speed them along and thus move the income along as well. Additionally, there are more items that are valuable to players than boosters that can be purchased with merits. Finally, capitalism plays here. Perhaps your flooding of the market has caused a price drop in the item? If I see you selling so many for 1M ea and I want ANY chance to sell, I am going to have to undersell you.

Complaining that other people are moving in on your sole market gig isn't going to endear you to the player base or make us sympathize with you.

  10. I was happy before the changes. Now it feels too OP to me.

I compare sentinels to scrappers, not blasters. Where scrappers need to run up and sit on the mob's lap, sentinels can just immediately start blastin'. To compensate, we do less damage. But not having to hug every mob is absolutely priceless to me. Being able to be next to the tank, totally in the fray and not worry while spamming our T9 is great.

With our pretty nice defenses, I find I can tank just fine in almost all x4x8 PI groups, often veering off from the group and soloing some encounters. Additionally, melee hybrid gives a tank like taunt for 2 minutes which is quite nice.

  11. Regen scrapper is alright I think. I've had fun dual-boxing a MA/Regen scrapper with a Grav/Time controller. The combo is quite fun really.

I wanted something that can just keep going and regen allows for that very nicely. I'd hazard to say a brute would have been better since the keep going factor works very well with fury.

Another thing that makes me like regen is grouping up with support characters. If I am maxed on DEF all by myself, getting DEF buffs don't really go the distance for example. RES and DEF buffs from the group go a long way it feels.

As for a /REG scrapper to solo 1-50 content, a brute might be better for that to take advantage of the more HP and the fury build up. I do think /REG will definitely help you learn game damage types, timings, and the works. Otherwise I strongly suggest /Willpower instead as it really is what people think of when they think "Regeneration".

...and due to that fact, you have access to emojis and other tools, avoid that "bad look" 😉😁😝

I'll need to start making more use of them. I rarely ever use them outside a text message on the phone lol.

Again, sorry if my plea came across too rudely instead of the playful style I intended!

Also, the devs are all volunteers, maintaining and improving the game in their spare time. It's not really fair to them to expect anything to happen "chop chop style."

Oh internet, doesn't get playful nature across well and instead made me look mean and pushy. ><

  14. I am looking for a more survivable scrapper. I am not a big fan of playing scrapper on large teams because there's so much going on I get lost in the effects and having to run from mob to mob to mob over and over in a single engagement.

So, I was thinking of a Brute so that I could have the character tank as needed (I love tanking but for this char, I want Energy Aura) and then toss out damage if there is a tank on the team.

I know the taunt mechanic on a tank. I am unsure on the mechanic on the brute, especially since I know Homecoming made some tanker/brute changes. Could someone explain the taunt mechanic of Brutes?

Is it only single target or AoE? I'd take the taunt power to help as needed.
Is the presence line worth going for agro management?
Would I need to run around to get agro or can I do anything to bring it to me?
How long does it take to get fury up?
    If someone needs a tank and I volunteer, will they laugh at me? ;-;
Can a Brute tank all content in game or is there a point where we sit in LFG waiting for the real deal to join?

Side note, this is specifically because I want Energy Aura and don't want to have to run all around. Sentinel doesn't get the taunt tanks and brutes do (I have one with melee hybrid and it works for 2minutes on and 2 minutes off).

And finally, street or martial arts? I like both so much.

Oh yeah, pls Energy Aura into tanks pls.

  15. How viable is a Psychic Blast - Empathy Corruptor?

While playing it so far, I am finding myself super busy, mostly on the Empathy side. But I do know that 50+, heals often times are never even needed, so my thought was being able to be the healer type when needed, and when not, do okay damage (its no blaster for sure). I also like that it doesn't have tons of particle effects and craziness flying all around me and the mobs the whole time.

But I am worried about if this is really a feasible combo at 50+. Its not defender heals/buffs, corruptor damage is not exactly blowing people's minds, and psychic blast doesn't seem to have any secondary effects that turn the tide (is -recharge okay or not, I honestly ain't got a clue).

I would love to hear some input. I know "its all about the fun", but I'd like to know I am not a circus dumpster on a team.

  16. Hi guys,

I was wondering if there was a way to automatically run specific slash commands upon game start up. Best I could come up with is to make a macro with the commands I want and click it once when I log in. But I'd much prefer to just simply have them ran without having to think about it.

  17. When I started up on Homecoming, I had no clue about DFB so I did a sewer network run with a friend and enjoyed it. It is something that's there and is useful.

However, it is in a weird spot. People that want to level have faster and easier ways to do it. People that want content will typically focus on mission lines and story. Right now, the sewer network really only offers a "it's there so I did it" idea.

Make a new enhancement set meant for lower level characters. Add some badge locations or AVs in the sewers. Now we, as lower characters, fight through the sewers and get rewarded an enhancement for each badge we find. Could be like a weaker version of the AT enhancements that expire at a certain lvl or something.
