  1. OOOF!!! I hadn't even considered "enhancable" DDR. Hmmmm...what are we looking at....maybe 20% fully enhanced? That's not too bad...if I had slots. As of right now either Damping Bubble single-slotted or Repulsion Bolt single-slotted. Damn tough decision...Looking at Mid's, with 1 50+5 Def IO, it shows 17.11%

On another note...I did take all 3 primary attacks (tidge).

I do not have Repulsion Bomb (SeraphimKensai).

    I did take Repulsion Field...which I love!

  2. Another question...Repulsion Bolt or Damping Bubble?? I wouldn't even question it except the new Repulsion Bolt has a -15% resistance for 30 seconds. That and the Damping bubble numbers seems a bit anemic. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

  3. I just popped 50 on my Bots/FF MM. I'm contemplating a respec. Here's my question(s). Other than the Protector Bot throwing a heal now and then, is there any reason to slot Upgrade Robot over Maintenance Drone? I rarely see the PB heal any of my other bots. The Maintenance Drone on the other hand is an absolute beast at healing. Am I missing something, or is the Maintenance Drone the better power to slot?

  4. I decided to try out the new Ninjas after the update. Paired it with Time. I like what they've done with the set and I'm having fun with it. I noticed an oddity tho. I was interested to see how the first upgrade, Train Ninjas, looked. I have it 3-slotted with defense. It looks like the Genin's base defense is 11% and fully slotted is 17%. Here's the oddity...when checking the status icon for my Genin, it sometimes displays 11%...sometimes 17%. Mostly 11%. If I level mid-mission, if it was 11%, sometimes it will then just display 17%. Zoning has the same effect sometimes. It only appears to be the Genin tho. The Jounin and Oni seem to be displaying the correct numbers all the time. Is the icon the only place I can see the "real" numbers? Or is there another way? Anybody else have this issue?

  5. Thanks for the reply OT. All very good stuff!

My biggest issue with this build is there are too many good powers and I ran out of slots. I've never seen anything like this. None of my other toons had this problem.

I've never taken Spore Burst on a Plant build. Autohit sounds good tho. Steam-rolling teams pretty much takes it out of the running for power picks tho.

As I said, I normally pick Resist shields. I ran out of slots to do what I wanted, so I picked up Scorpion Shield...a "one pick wonder".

I will definitely take your advice on Spirit Tree and put in a Heal instead of Recharge.

I wanted more slots in Vines as well. Don't know where to pull them from.

On Controllers, I usually proc the hell out of Strangler and Roots. Someone on the forums, I wish I could remember who, said essentially that Dominators have a damage secondary, so no need to load up on damage for the primary. that actually made sense to me...to load up on status effects for the primary. I like the ATO's here if nothing else than helping the status effects and the bonus to Energy Defense...stacks nicely with the epic shield.

I was curious about the OF proc in Thorntrops. The idea is amusing if nothing else. I hope it works well.

What are your thoughts on Ripper vs Thorn Burst?

I'm not necessarily married to anything in this build at this point. This was a difficult build...never had this issue with a non-Dominator build. Even Controllers are easier in my opinion. mileage may vary.

  6. I tend to run Controllers more than Dominators...I'm trying to correct that. So I'm looking for guidance on building a good Plant/Thorn Dominator.

I never take Scorpion Shield. I Have no idea how good or bad it might be. I see a lot of people take it tho. I typically use Resist shields, but my defenses were crap. I suspect it was because I was working towards so much recharge.

I wanted to take Spine Burst over Ripper, but Ripper does sooooo much more damage. I'd rather do PBAoE over a cone, but....

I wanted Spirit tree both for theme and some extra healing if necessary. Vengeance is for the LotG mule.

So anything you see that can be improved, please let me know. I'm not sure where to go with this. It looks like I have perma-Dom...maybe that's all I need????

  7. My first thought was a Rad/Sonic Defender. You get the "big 3" pretty early...early enough for all the TF/SF. Plus it will be a huge middle finger to Clamor when I go against her.

I had really thought about Cold Dom. You get one of the big powers usable at the lowest TF. I'll have to think about that.

I'm still mulling over the "high damage" option. Tho one option could be a Sentinel (stop laughing!) for the status protection. The second SF comes to mind, with the big boat with all the guns. Some of them have some kind of hold ammo. Countess Crey kept "sleeping/holding" my Controller. Yeah, I could carry a tray full of BF's if I had to.

  8. Looking for thoughts on best partner for a Tank to duo Task Forces and Strike Forces. I have a little bit of experience doing this. I have a fully kitted out lvl 50 fire farmer Brute and a fully kitted out lvl 50 Tank that I worked thru the blue-side TF's for the TF Commander accolade. With the Brute, I went thru with another lvl 50 kitted out Storm/Elec Defender...it was smooth as silk from start to finish. With the Tank, I went thru the blue-side TF's with different squishy AT's for every TF. Some of them were painfully long. I'm looking at you Manticore TF AV's! I haven't gone thru (paired) the SF's, although I have gone thru the first 4 with my SG.

My ask: I have altitis (as many of you do). About a third of my characters are Tanks. They range in lvl's but the most are currently low enough to start the first TF's/SF's. What would be the best AT pairing for a Tank on these? Specifically taking down the AV's. Would it be a Buffer/DeBuffer? Would it be high damage? Which AT and power sets would be best for this?

  9. I'm closing in on lvl 50. I'm trying to get my build together. I'm having some minor issues getting what I want out of it. I like layered defenses. I was trying to get 75% s/l and 45% ranged defenses. I came up short. Not sure what I can do to get there.  Any help would be appreciated.

I play at range whenever possible - I'm looking at you low ceiling office maps! And caves!

Also, I've asked this before, but didn't see an answer. What's the best way to import a build from Mid's? I know there's a better way than what I did here.

  10. This is a lvl 1 thru lvl 50 question...so no Incarnate abilities. I have a lvl 43 Arch/TA concept character. So far she's been pretty tough. Eagle Eye is just such a good power. I do play at range whenever possible. I have been considering another concept character with Archery and Plant Manipulation. I like the look of Spore Cloud and Wild Fortress...at least on paper. I have no experience with it on a Blaster. I have several higher lvl characters with Nature's Affinity, so these 2 powers are at least familiar (tho the Blaster version is a bit different). For survivability purposes, how is Wild Fortress in comparison to Eagle Eye? Which is better to have...regen or absorption...with the default numbers each are given? Those with experience, what are your thoughts on Spore Cloud? Good? Bad? Meh?

  11. Thanks all who have replied! I haven't been on this forum for a while and missed these last build/comments. I did build him finally with my Mid's build. On paper it looked "good". In practice, he's a beast. I did +5 my normal IOs. My end/rec is pretty solid. Even with Darkest Night toggled on, I rarely get past half a bar of Endurance. Running at x8, nothing gives him pause...except those damn Psi PPD groups. Something about the combination of the Psi/PB/Hard Suits can wreck him. Especially when the groups are packed together too closely.

I will look closer at the builds on here. Thank you for posting them.

I went Musculature for my Alpha. I may build Cardiac to quench my OCD about Negative Energy and Psi resists being only 88% and 89% . I will look at Agility as well

I went with Degenerative for my Interface. Toxic with all my Neg Energy...YUM! Fits the concept very well.

I'm debating on Ageless and/or Barrier for Destiny. I may just build both. Or is there a better one to chose from for this build?
