Must have needed to refresh the page, didn't see your edit till after my posted response.

I'd probably use something other than Rectified Reticle in BU.  Good place for the Gaussian's proc.  You've already got +perception in Focused Senses and while grabbing +regen bonuses isn't a bad idea I wouldn't start here.

Recall Friend (now Teleport Target) you shouldn't need any (further) kb/kid protection.  I'd either swap it out or put a Winter's Gift slow resistance in here.

Swift can take a Fly Spd.

    More later.

I often default to Rectified Reticle simply because stealthy Arachnos are so annoying, wasn't thinking of +perception from Focused Senses. Fly to Swift I simply overlooked on Mids, but Winters Gift Slow Resistance I hadn't noticed.

    Thanks,

What are your goals for the build?  Are you looking for the I-cap defensively?  What's your end consumption vs recovery?  Is your DDR at 95%?

I figure dps is nil while faceplanted so goal #1 is being as untouchable as practicable; #2 recharge, since no dps while waiting for powers to come back; #3 ... damage?

edit: nm, just figured out DDR

  3. Hi all, I've tried a few scrapper builds before and feel like I've finally settled on a preferred power sets combo built around Electrical Melee/Super Reflexes - but I'm wondering my slots/enhancement sets are optimal.

So, since I've not been able to find an EM/SR build to work off, I wonder if the community can help me refine my following build:-

    Rikti Mothership Raid

    • The Rikti Mothership raid can now be started from the LFG queue. Characters must be level 35 and have the Member of Vanguard badge to join the raid in this way.
      • If the league is not locked, a minimum of 16 players is required to start the raid this way.
      • All enemies inside the mission map are level 54, including the ones that are lower level in the zone. All players are bumped to combat level 50 for the duration of the raid.

Does "all enemies inside the mission map" mean the raid will now be an instanced mission? no more RWZ-full lockouts? No more 2 leagues fighting together?

    (edited grammar)

  5. I find it strangely heartening to see so much debate since it suggests the issue being examined is so close to balanced that there is no clear winner.

My only request is that if the rage recharge rate is what determines a crash or not, please make it so that ONLY my build effects my rage recharge rate. I can handle needing to avoid stacking rage to avoid a crash. If I have to then change my play whenever I team up with someone with Speed Boost that becomes a right royal pain and a disincentive to teaming up.

Yes I could talk to Null the Gull to ignore speed boost but that’s another disincentive because I loose all the other benefits of Speed Boost that I currently enjoy.

  6. So, finally got my Electric/Shield scrapper to 50 and thought I should share my current build plan with the brain trust to see if I can tweak it further.

I've seen a few builds that all seem to rely on jumping as a core part of the build, but my favorite travel power is flight so my build goes different route. I tried a fly/hover build for an extra bonus, but the hover is... awkward for melee, so dropped as more hindrance than help.

I'd love to get more recovery/regen, but without sacrificing def caps this is the best I can come up with so far:

Any tips to help refine it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  7. Anyway, as for your build, if you put the Numina unique in Health, you get a better regen buff by then slotting a Numina Healing/Absorb and getting the Numina 2-slot bonus than you get by putting in the Regenerative Tissue unique.

I’m not seeing a Numina’s Healing/Absorb in Pines so I assume that data bug or mismatch. Getting past that though, I see 2 pieces give +12% regen while the Regenerative Tissue Regen gives +25%.

What am I missing to make the set set bonus better than the Regen Tissue bonus?

  8. *doesn't want to use rare and expensive sets*

*15 PvP IOs, 6 winter event IOs*

Its entirely possible that my assumption (avoiding purple recipes would be enough to call my build “medium budget”) was off, but that’s why I sought the wisdom of the wiser collective!

Anyway, as for your build, if you put the Numina unique in Health, you get a better regen buff by then slotting a Numina Healing/Absorb and getting the Numina 2-slot bonus than you get by putting in the Regenerative Tissue unique.

The Panacea proc is very weak in Dull Pain. While it will have a 90% chance to activate, the benefit it gives is very small, and you want it going off as much as possible; it's better in Health or Physical Perfection.

I assume you put the Freebird: Fly Speed in Mystic Flight because you wanted the set bonus but didn't want to be transparent from the +Stealth IO? If not, that enhancement is wasted, because Mystic Flight caps flight speed unenhanced.

All very helpful tips, thank you. You’re right on Freebird – its disappointing if the Fly speed is capped, but I think the regen bonus is worthwhile and stealth seems contrary to by job as distraction to protect the team.

I would definitely move the Panacea to Physical Perfection.  Or if nothing else, that's a good place to put another Performance Shifter.  You can have as many of those as will fit.  And you'll want it, because despite that you have Conserve Power and Physical Perfection, it looks like endurance will be an abiding issue on this build.  As /SS you will be dealing with Rage crashes.  And you have Hasten in there.  If you're taking Focused Accuracy, that's a good place for a yellow end/to-hit button from the cheapest sets, since you apparently can't slot it for endurance reduction directly.

This build still looks very different from an i23 build; back in those days, two sets of Kinetic Combat seemed like an out of reach luxury.

Panacea proc on its way to Physical Perfection, but I don’t understand “if nothing else, that's a good place to put another Performance Shifter”...

Kinetic Combat sets seem like a good source of S/L Defense, especially with 3.75% per four piece set currently going for < 20 mil inf (not counting attunements). Not CHEAP, but reasonably achievable.

I’ve found invul tank to be an end hog all of its career. I haven’t factored incarnate into the build because I’m not settled on incarnate choices, but at vet 15 Alpha-Cardiac has generally made end a non-issue unless I’m being end-drained. Never imagined any build could make malta sappers less annoying but I’d be happy to hear otherwise!

Terseus was my first L50 build before sunset and is again in Homecoming. So, this is my early-goals build aiming at getting good stats without using any (hideously rare and expensive) purple sets, with decent regen and some psi resistance to balance out less than perfect defenses. You might recognise some of the frankenslotting from Nic's Guide to IO's With IMPACT! (https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,4800.0.html), which I admire as a solid starting point for building up bonuses.

I'd be grateful for tips on tweaking this build without changing powers. I'm hooked on Mystic Flight for the occasionally useful built in teleport, plus Recall Friend for helping out my wife who is sometimes navigationally challenged ;), but these would obviously be easy choices to swap out for others.

  10. The magic bullet you're looking for is the /powexec_location command. Full docs in the Guide.

I couldn't find the guide but that command was indeed the key.

This format should work.../macro TAR "powexecname Tar Patch$$powexec_location target Tar Patch"

Quotes are optional - i love this!

    Thanks all!

I'm generally loath to use binds because I bounce between alts so much I worry I'll remember what key works what for which character, so I worked on the macro option.

    I found

/macro LtR powexec_location target Lightning Rod

    works perfectly (no quotes).

My next goal will be reading up on Shenanigunner's "Macros... now with icons!" thread so I can replace the ugly grey macro button with something more fitting!

    :)

    Edit:

I found the Guide Shenanigunner referenced (I think, at http://www.dgath.com/coh/ ) and with some experimentation found that

      /macro_image ElectricMelee_PBAoETeleport LtR powexec_location target Lightning Rod

gives me a version of Lightning Rod that executes Lighting Rod onto my currently selected target. It does not however create the targeting circle if I have no target, or if my target is out of range. Haven't figured out if that's possible yet.

    Edit2:

    More experimenting, and I've found

/macro_image ElectricMelee_PBAoETeleport LtR "powexecname Lightning Rod$$powexec_location target Lightning Rod"

will create a macro that looks like the Lightning Rod icon on my power tray, entitled "LtR" if I right-click on the icon, that executes Lightning Rod on my selected target if I have one, or if I don't have a target selected it creates the default targeting circle!

The quotes were important though. Without the quotes, the new icon only executes the first command, producing the default targeting circle - no surprise if you're already a macro master I guess, but important to mention for those of us learning I think.

  11.

Is there a way to target AOE powers to centre on a selected target instead of the default 'place the AOE circle somewhere using your mouse'?

I thouhgt I read something saying it's possible earlier in the week, but when I finally unlocked Lightning Rod on my scrapper I couldn't find the reference again.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. I've read many builds and wrestled with Mids and Pines hero planners learning IO sets and bonuses, but this guide is superb for narrowing down the best bang-for-buck IO's.

The tips on best ones for early use are especially useful.

    Thank you!

  13. For me it comes down to the difference between the classes' inherent powers, Fury and Gauntlet.

    From: https://cityofheroes.fandom.com/wiki/Inherent_Powers#Gauntlet ...

    - A Tanker's AoE attacks and auras to taunt every PvE enemy they affect. Their single-target attacks taunt the enemy hit and up to four more around it.

    - A Brute's single target attacks only taunt the target they hit.

i.e. A tanker is committed to protecting his group by drawing the attention of their enemies. For a brute, this role is secondary to doing the most damage they can do.

In practice, there's very little practical difference in a balanced team. Go with the archetype that resonates with you psychologically, in your gut. At the end of the day its a game. Play what's more fun for you.

  14. It's not upside down. I saw it in a Praetoria mission.

You should be able to flip it using one of the following, depending what axis it sits on:

    Alt

    Ctrl-Alt

    Shift-Alt

Perfect, yes. Forget now which one of those did the trick but I was able to flip the doors to suit my purpose. Thanks heaps.

  15.

Seeing vehicle options I went looking for some kind of wall feature that would suggest vehicle access and came across the "Large Secure Door" within Doors & Windows.

Is it just me or is that door upside down?

Is there a way for me to rotate it around its horizontal axis? (interpreting the rick-clock and alt rotate options as around vertical axis)

    Thanks in advance.

  16.

What if any enhancement (sets) change knock back effects into knock down or knock up effects?

I saw a reference in in-game chat but had no chance to quiz the poster for details and it might be enough for me to make that force blaster I've always avoided due to the knock back effects.

    Thanks in advance.
