This *is* a live game, and if what someone is looking for is a museum exhibit, there are other options.

I meant compared to back before shutdown, when this was a fully funded, developed by a studio game with a much, much larger player base. And as I said, I don't expect it to be a museum, I worry about the effect of nerfs on this much smaller community. I didn't call for no nerfs ever, or for nothing to change, just wanted to state my concerns that these have to be handled very carefully.

  2. I've been watching the powerset changes/nerfs here for a while, I'm not enough of a numbers guy to comment on them specifically but I think it needs to be said; we should be very, very careful how we handle negative power changes. This is not like handling nerfs in a live game, we don't have live game player numbers. If this causes an exodus, further fracturing the CoH community would be a shame. You better believe other servers will be glad to capitalize on nerfs here.

Also, I'm afraid if there was large scale drama and backlash to changes, we risk NCsoft pulling the license because they'd rather not be associated with drama and in-fighting. I'm picturing CoH during the time of ED's rollout, that was a rough time to read the forums and a lot of bad publicity.

I'm not saying don't ever change anything, I believe there are underperforming sets that need help, and maybe some sets should be -slightly- adjusted over down time to bring them in line, but negative changes should always be done with small, extremely focused adjustments, not one big patch to "fix" an overperforming set. Maybe I'm wrong and this update, and the future Bio Armor nerf, goes Live and there are minimal negative reactions, I sincerely hope that is the case. Still, please consider the morale of the community, people do leave when their favorite characters are suddenly weaker, you may not agree with that, but it needs to be considered.

Again, I appreciate all the work done here, this is an amazing update and is really an impressive feat for the Homecoming team, thank you all so much, but this is just something I felt I had to say.

  3. Released:

    Heroic

    Way

(had a cool villain idea for The Way, but it just didn't pan out, hopefully y'all will make better use of these awesome names)

  4. I was on Excel earlier today, a Tuesday morning JUST after maintenance, and LFG was hopping with several teams, TFs, and people looking for teams.

But I guess you weren't asking a question just stating a flawed premise, so, ...ok?

That's something I have thought about every once in awhile...we get these new power sets, but don't see them ported over to villain groups.

I think this power set would add some really nice flavour to the Carnies. TWO THUMBS UP FOR THIS SUGGESTION!

But would about Water Blast, and Marine Affinity?

Shouldn't the Coralax get a revamp, akin to the Goldbrickers and Warriors and Freakshow/Freaklok? I've always felt the Coralax are a little underused.

Oh man, Coralax Lore pets with Marine Affinity?! pleasepleaseplease

I totally agree.  I also think the whole League UI should be reworked, including things like automatically displaying everyone's level.  But if a gold frame is expedient, sure start with that.

(It would be good to get feedback from players what's desired in the new league UI.  I have my own ideas but I'm sure there's lots more ideas out there.)

Showing player's levels would be great too, just anything to help with team/league forming would be much appreciated.

  7. Would it be possible to get some sort of marker on player names in the team/league window who are 50? When forming a league that would make it super easy making sure all teams are good. My idea would be a slight gold outline around their name, or maybe some sort of symbol next to their name, whatever is easiest to implement.

  8. Just want to add that I love having tons of NPC heroes and villains running around like the characters you mention, both in the world and in missions. They can be lore heavy famous characters, or just some two-bit character, doesn't matter to me. It makes the world feel much more alive.

I *know* it's not what you're proposing, but I now want a set where I throw ninjas at people.

Imagine the nuke... one moment, just you, then boom, ninjas everywhere...

I mean, now you got me thinking....

Tier 9 Blast - Shinobi Ichizoku

"Summon your Shinobi Ichizoku (ninja family) for a brutal, area attack around your target."

I'm picturing smoke, ninjas darting around, then disappearing quickly. Knockdown so when the ninjas leave and smoke clears the baddies are either dead or trying to get back up.

  10. I know we've got a lot of names released, but I just found this one free and thought it was too good not to share. If you need the ultimate, archetypal villain name:

    Antagonist is available.

This is a really cool concept, definitely one I'm considering. I think I'd like my secondary on a Brute to be somewhat supernatural in nature, so it makes the Soul Mastery thing feel like a new thing but not too much of a stretch. I'm also a big sucker for weapons, been looking at War Mace, Broadsword, and Katana. Any ideal pairings with those that you like?

There's some great "dark" options for all those weapons, I especially like the Rularuu weapons for a concept like this.

War Mace/Energy Aura (color the powers dark) is a fantastic combo, there's some Endurance help in /EA.

Katana/Ninjutsu is a classic for a reason, would work well with your concept.

/Bio Armor works great with almost anything, is a top tier set for damage with great survivability, you can re-color or minimal FX most powers into a dark concept, but there's a few powers that still use the biological type effects. With some effort you could explain that as darkness stuff too though.

/Shield is great and has some good designs for a dark concept.

/Super Reflexes is great but beware it has no endurance tools, you can fix that with IOs and especially Incarnates, but you'll be out of breath a lot while leveling a, for an example, WM/SR.

Plenty of other sets but I've got the most experience with those.
