  1. Any chance I'm in the wrong place?  Waiting by the IP gate in KR on Indomitable and seem to be the only one here?

Finally have a night free from watching the toddler, was looking forward to smashing stuff as a group.  :)

  2. Apologies if this is common knowledge.  I did a quick search and didn't turn anything up.

Is there an unofficial villain server and/or a server with the highest red side population?  I have a few villain concepts I'd like to try but after rolling a Praetorian alt and only seeing one other player on my road to level 20  I'm a bit warry about ending up rolling one on an unpopulated villain server.

    Thanks!

  3. Thanks for the great TT last night.  My schedule is pretty crazy through new years so my attendance is going to be a bit more spotty.  Definitely want to be with you guys, always have a blast.

Although, I did just notice we have a 5th Tuesday this month... so, we could visit Reunion or try for another all Tanker MSR on Excelsior?

    Thoughts/votes?

Only thing is that I'd imagine we'd get a better turnout on Excelsior, otherwise I'm not too fussed either way.

Hey all! I managed to join up for a bit last night, and had a lot of fun. So, I just drug my main tank over from Indom to Everlast, since shard transfers are so easy these days. But, I'm wondering what the general method is? Do you usually just have a different tank on each shard or do you use the same tank and swap around shards?

Everlasting is my "home" server and I have a few tanks there with my stone/stone being my primary.  I have an elec/elec that I migrate around servers for the other weekly meetups.  Both tanks are named the same which is an odd/unique name so I haven't duplication issues.

  6. I think I should be able to make it tonight.  My daughter has had some sleep regression recently, but I think the worst of it is over.  If so, see you all at KR at 9 PM EST!

  7. My in-laws are visiting so I wasn't able to make it last night and won't be able to make it next Tuesday either sadly.  Definitely have fun everyone and take some pictures to share!

The reason that doesn't work is that once you're tough enough to stay alive through anything, then it doesn't matter how much tougher you get. And just about any tanker primary can be utterly invincible to God himself once slotted with IOs. (And since the inevitable comparisons between brutes and tankers come in when the brutes are IOed, this is relevant here.)

Also SR is utterly amazeballs/holy-shit-this-would-be-nerfed-on-live on tankers. Seriously, plan out a build in Mid's and your eyes will fall out of your goddamn head.

Agreed, that SR can be amazing, it is more of a perception.  However I have been kicked from teams for playing an Ice/ or Stone/, etc. which do have serious issues (beyond perception) which need addressing.

The thing is, how does more damage and a higher damage floor help either?  I've never seen tanks as needing high DPS in a team, and while I appreciate that using 100's of millions of inf and perfect slotting a tank can become godly, not everyone has the time to afford something like that.  I'd be curious to see the actual numbers of characters who have invested 100 million+ into IOs compared to the character/toon population as a whole.  Speaking personally, I'll likely never get to that point in the game again as I have other responsibilities in my life, etc.  Basically, I think content should be balanced around a tank at 20, 30 or 40 using generic IO's.  Building or setting power at levels 20, 30, 40, etc. based upon perfect slotted IO sets and bonuses will lead to nothing changing ever.  That's what level 50+ content is for and should be balanced accordingly.

  9. Interesting changes, and I'll admit upfront I haven't tested these as of yet.  Much of them seem purposed around making soloing and working in small teams a bit easier and/or faster.

My initial reaction is that the AoE and taunt changes are a plus, as are some of the early power swapping.  I do feel that some of the lines between Brute and Tanker are blurring here due to the focus on offense.  I always felt that tanks deserve some kind of scaling res/def/health based upon the number of team members.  When I'm tanking for 8 team members say a boost in health of 30%, res & def of 10% or something of that nature would likely help me take those alphas, and shore us some of the issues we see with lesser played tank primaries (SR, Ice, etc.) having difficulty (or at least a perception they do) taking the alpha in larger groups.  This is just an example of course, those percentages would need to be played with, etc.

What I find amusing is that Heraclea's costume is all blacked out except for the Hellenic Sandals, which are still yellow.

I just realized that me and Herc are sandle buddies

Hopefully my daughter will sleep well again tomorrow evening and I can join the schenanigans on Everlasting  🙂

  11. I've been wanting to join for a while and am going to try and make it tonight.  It just depends on if I can get my newborn to sleep easily or not (she is seven weeks old).  Hopefully I'll see you in KR with my Stone/Stone tanker by the same name as my forum account.  🙂

  12. Thank you for the replies so far, it is very much appreciated.

Good point on starting basically a shell of a SG for the teleport, and maybe storage and crafting.

I had forgotten about the universities completely.  I think I ran the tutorial there once right before I quit around I8.

If I'm reading correctly, it seems that SO's can be skipped completely now (as long as you have the cash and salvage, etc. to make the equivalent generic IO).  That works fine from my perspective as I always hated the grind for new SOs every 5 or so levels and to actually feel more whimpy when I leveled up from say level 30 to level 31.

I'd heard there is a trick using the auction house for moving inf between characters, or at least used to be, is that still working?

Thanks again everyone for your thoughtful replies.  🙂

  13. Hey All, I'm enjoying the nostalgia and revisiting CoX after such a long time away.  I used to play during I0 through I8ish and my playtime really waned before the introduciton of IO's.  As such, I'm a bit lost on a mechanic that is probably second nature to most of you.  I did some searching for guides, but weren't able to find any, so hopefully you don't mind my IO questions which are as follows:

Roughly what level should I start seriously looking to slot IOs?

I see some have set levels and some scale with you?  Is there a difference in quality?

How do I go about crafting these (keeping in mind I'm not part of a SG at the moment)?

Are there any "must have" sets overall or for each archetype?

I see lots of builds being shared with various IO sets, at what point do you layer in those sets?  When you can afford them?  Level 50?  Sometime before?

What should I prioritize in your mind when choosing IO sets to pursue?

I'm currently building up tons of salvage across my dozen or so alts (I have a serious case of alt-itis since coming back).  Should I stockpile, or just sell on the market and re-buy when I need?

Anything about IO's that I'm not asking about, but I should be made aware of?

    Thanks!

  14. Hi everyone, I definitely recognize some names in this list and it has been a while.  I was mostly active on Protector (and later Guardian when my alt-itis got the best of me) from I0 through I8 or so.  Hopefully a few people on here might remember me.  :)

  15. One of my favorite characters used to be an Eng/Eng blapper.  I remember crunching the numbers once and the DPS between /Elec and /Eng being very similar as a blapper (without enhancements of course), however what I would say is that stun>sleep.  Power boost plus the ability to chain stun a boss as an /Eng blapper puts it ahead of /Elec in my book.

  16. Sorry if this is posted elsewhere and I seem to have missed it.

What are the ancilary power pools for Sentinels, and what are the powers within each.  Any suggested stronger/weaker ones (without keeping theme synergy in mind)?

    Thanks!
