  1. I don't understand why that would be, because people could change their costumes on Paragon Chat and others could see it? If they enabled it for Homecoming and made it compatible, then I don't see how there would be issue.

A search here for OuroDev also brought up nothing.

It's because Paragon Chat doesn't have a server-side database. It trusts your client to store your costumes, and send the costume string through their XMPP chat back end to let people know what your costume is.

The actual game server on the other hand stores your costume in your user data in their server side databse. That's why you have to wait on a character list when you log in, the server is sending your character list to your client. It's why when you click on any of your characters beyond the first character slot, you have to wait a moment before they load, the server is sending the appearance string for that character to your client. Your characters are not stored on your local machine.

  2. Considering there's a post about botting/macroing from the admins that specifically says it's OK to do... I don't think that having more than one auto power is going to hurt anything.

There are so many character types that would benefit from this. You may just not have played them. But /Shield Brutes and Scrappers (And Shield/ Tankers) for instance have their mez protection on a click. They're almost forced to use Hasten to get that to perma, so they have two things (Hasten and Active Defense) which are both on relatively long recharges, that they will want to fire as soon as they come off recharge, and missing either of them can be a big problem. Yet they're things that can be easily overlooked in mid-battle because you're busy punching things, and these are things you only have to refresh every two minutes or so.

The same goes for a lot of Defender sets that have a big buff that is often relied upon being "always on" when the character build is developed, but needs to be paired with Hasten and can easily be forgotten. Chrono Shift and Farsight from Time, Overgrowth/Wild Bastion/Wild Growth from Nature, and so on.

Autoing things like those does not in any way constitute creating a "self playing" bot. But not having the tools to do so within the game does push players to third party tools like Autohotkey, which are very much capable of completely automating an entire character, so if anything, you're creating more botters by withholding such tools.

  3. My opinion is usually if it's not taking at least 30 seconds to finish a spawn off you need to turn up the difficulty :D

Entangling Aura may only work on minions and LTs, but when stacked with Volcanic it's going to hold every damn thing. True that I can only cast Volcanic once every 60 seconds, but this toon is built for those sorts of tough fights that take close to 60 seconds. Boss filled spawns of +4 Freakshow and Redcaps and Arachnos and other nasties.

Similar to my Ice/Time in that she'll feel a bit like a fifth wheel if the team is steamrolling, but should be amazing in long, drawn out, truly difficult battles.

I do take your point about being pretty well "close enough" to my design goals though. I've already been leveling her a bit, she's at 18 now, so I'm not waiting on it or anything, just posted the build in the hopes someone might be able to find that last 33% that I couldn't quite dig up.

And I have Earthquake for situations where Volcanic is on cooldown and the team gets bum rushed by a bunch of bosses. Knockdown works on most bosses ;-)

    Thanks for the feedback!

  4. PBs are actually disgustingly good at their job, no changes necessary.

Also, knockback is the single best form of CC in the game. Mobs can't kill players when they're being chucked 50 feet through the air on loop.

    QTF

I get why it can be a pain for team mates - usually a grumpy scrapper for some reason, still it can be managed.

Hurrr hurr, only Scrappers hate teh knockbackz, silly Scrappers!

For real though, I loathe Knockback, and I don't play Scrappers (Anymore. Brutes make them obsolete for me, personally. Just a preference thing). I hate it when I'm playing my support toons, almost all of whom have half their toolkit dependent on keeping the enemy in a defined area. There's nothing more annoying then throwing down Distortion Field or Ice Slick or something only to have some MOTHERFUCKING IDIOT PEACEBRINGER fling the entire spawn out of the area, in all directions.

Thanks asshole, that's like a 60 second cooldown you just blew for me, and everyone's going to take more damage because your dumb ass needed to feel "powerful" by flinging the mobs around.

And Knockback is not the most effective CC in the game. KnockUP works identically, without scattering the spawn to the four winds. It provides just as much mitigation as knockback, but doesn't inconvenience everyone else in your group to let you "feel strong".

But you go on telling yourself how badass you are, and I'll go on avoiding any team with multiple Peacebringers on it (And just ignoring PBs entirely when I'm actually running the team), until they get fixed, or lock the AT to people who have a 50 already again so that I can have some modicum of confidence that anyone I see on a PB might have the skill to use it without fucking everyone else over.

Switch them to Knockdown or Knockup by default. I don't care which. Give them the option to switch back, through some arcane, hidden NPC or something somewhere, so noobs can't find it.

  5. Maybe have it tied to the lvl 50 badge. Can do 1 dfb per day, unless you have a lvl 50 on your account.  But I don't think there are account flags like that :(

I agree that newbs should not be doing farms, but at the same time,  I don't want to get stuck in the lower levels when I have a new character concept I want to try out.

I'd be fine with that change. And I'm saying that as someone who doesn't have a 50 yet due to altitis.

If you want a limit, limit yourself.  Don't worry about what others are doing.

My suggestion had nothing to do with limiting myself. It was about limiting other people so they have to do something else instead of just mindlessly repeating DFB until they're level 30. The point of that isn't even the limit on them, it's to make it possible to get on teams doing other things. Which I currently can't find on my server except after level 20 at the lowest.

Once in a huge while someone advertises for a Posi TF, but that's it.

I could probably get a team together if I lead it, but social anxiety, really rather not.

I want the old days when I could expect to find KR Radio teams, Frostfire arc teams, etc advertising in LFG basically every day. But there's nothing but DFB now.

  6. Solution: reroll as a /kin

That doesn't help anything. If anything it makes the problem worse because you have no real mitigation and your pets run into melee even faster than before.

Seriously, until an admin posts saying that it can't be done or breaks things, this is the suggestion I'm backing the hardest. It *needs* to happen. Ranged pets running into melee needs to stop.

  8. The goal of this build was to get perma-Volcanic Gasses to go with Entangling Aura, which I did achieve. I'm still around 33% recharge bonus away from perma-Overgrowth though. Anyone want to take a stab at finding my missing recharge?

  9. If memory serves ...

This was asked for A LOT when Paragon Studios was running the show.

They couldn't take Brawl out of Pets.

    They tried.

    Stuff broke.

    Too much stuff broke.

And that's why ranged Pets still have Brawl.

I seem to recall they refused to do it because it would lower their dps significantly, not because they couldn't.

Personally I'm fine with a dps loss, just please for fuck's sake take their brawl away. If they acted like Hellions/Skulls Buckshot/Gunner mobs, I'd be overjoyed.

  10. Here's my stab at this.

I skipped Dual Wield, and also Temporal Selection. Not using Dark Mastery (Or any epic pool actually). But the endurance recovery on it should be sufficient as-is, I think, and it's got perma-hasten and perma-Chrono even without Force Feedback proc going off.

I also stuck the Frozen Blast chance for Immob in Empty Clips, and Superior Frozen Blast Chance for Immob in Bullet Rain (Pine's allows this, hopefully the game will too), for more "No escape" shenanigans.

I have significantly less damage than the OP's builds, and less single target for sure, but I have Piercing Rounds for -res, and more importantly to me, my build is soft capped (Well, 0.6% under soft cap for melee and aoe, and soft capped for ranged), and well overcapped whenever it uses Hail of Bullets. Also decent resists because I managed to work in Shield Wall and Reactive Defenses procs, along with the fighting pool so Tough is along for the ride.

I'm fairly pleased with the build, though it's also probably a bit more expensive than the OP's.

  12. All I can say is that on Everlasting at least, if you want to do anything *other* than DFB/DiB before 22, you're out of luck, generally.

DiB may not be the same sort of xp-fest, I'm just sick of seeing nothing but those in LFG, and not being able to get a group. It took an hour for me to get a group yesterday, ridiculous for a Defender on a Saturday.

And then today my groups were full of "DFB Babies" who didn't know how to play.

  13. Just for your information this is what is coming out on my end :)

    Well GOOF.

Really disappointing to see that all the work I put into making the alternates with the Level 50 Purples wasn't being encoded/read in the data hash.  Oh well.

This build and your others look amazing, thank you for the time and effort you put into them. Its appreciated. :)

That's only because I put hours/days into noodling around in Pine with them before posting them (and even then wind up making a fair number of corrections afterwards based on feedback).  That's because I'm looking for sustainable/balanced performance profiles over as wide a range of Exemplar Levels as can be managed without compromising the underlying build itself.

And don't forget, other people are allowed to make amazing builds too!  ;)

You could always post the secondary build as a separate data block for people to check out ;-)

  14. This probably won't be the most popular of suggestions... But I'd really like to see the Death From Below and Drowning In Blood trials limited so that a player can only run them once or twice a day.

I like fast xp and high inf rewards as much as anyone, but at a certain point it gets really, really old running the same thing over and over, especially for altaholics like me. I'd like to be able to get groups for other things before level 22, and at present the LFG channel is just a flood of people looking for players for DFB and DiB, with very occasionally something else mixed in, but all the other things tend to be at least level 20+

Arguably worse, we get new players to the game hitting DFB until their mid-20s, and having no idea how to actually play the game when they start looking for something else to do. I see so many people in the 20-30 range that haven't figured out how to manage their knockback, and today I had a group where our Brute, who was level 20 something, did not have his taunt aura or Taunt (The latter of which is excusable on a Brute, but the former of which is not, even if you don't intend to tank, because it's generally one of your best defensive powers), and after we'd been struggling with a Freakshow mission with several wipes, about halfway through it, he asks the group "How do you get enhancements?".

Please, for the love of Positron, stop the madness!

  15. Being able to open the auction house from almost anywhere is an awesome change, and makes crafting IOs so much nicer when you can have Wentworth's open while standing at the workbench in the university... But it would be even better if we could access the auction house from the workrooms in our SG bases, where we have all those salvage racks and such.

    Any possibility of this happening?

  16. How about a normal looking DOOR that functions as a portal.

BRB recreating The Lost Room as a base...

That would also be good, but the invisible portal would let you turn any arbitrary object into a portal, so I can have the Vault door as my base entrance. I'm already doing that with the "small portal" effect, but it's not completely invisible and bugs me a bit.

  17. While you guys are working on base items for that upcoming patch, could you possibly create a teleporter that's just a clickable invisible box?

Basically so it can be placed in front of doors and things to make a teleporter to send you to the other side of it. Or well, to a room that's meant to be the other side anyway ;-)

There are a few ways to kind of do this already, but they're all visible to one degree or another. Would be nice if it was just an invisible block like the teleport points are.

  18. Defense Auras:

    Edict of the Master - 5% Defense(All)

Call to Arms - 5% Defense (All)

Superior Command of the Mastermind - 15% Defense(AoE)

    Resistance Auras:

    Sovereign Right - 10% Resist(All)

    Expedient Reinforcement - 10% Resist(All)

    Superior Mark of Supremacy - 15% Resist(All)

You may have been looking at the regular, rather than Superior versions of Command of the Mastermind, and Mark of Supremacy. The Superior versions can only be created by using Enhancement Catalysts on the regular version, and the Superior versions only exist as level 50 IOs.

Obviously if you expect to exemplar down a lot, you might stick with the regular versions.

  19. Yup, there's 6 "must have" IOs now. Get all 6 and your pets have 35% to all resists and 10% to all defenses except AoE which is 25%, as long as they're within Supremacy range.

Not even counting any resists or defenses they may bring to the party on their own (Such as Protector Bot shields, or Enforcer Maneuvers)

  20. One thing to consider: Bots have more long term potential, but their damage output really *sucks* until level 26 (Arguably 32 really). So if you intend to solo a lot, it's very slow going. At low levels the Mercs significantly outdamage the Bots. So Mercs have a smoother leveling curve. Bots just have a skyrocket in power at level 32.

  21. Yeah, I wouldn't want to skip Dark Empowerment on the Lich. The whole point of my build was stupid levels of stacking crowd controls. I, the Lich, and the Servant all have Tenebrous Tentacles and Petrifying Gaze. The Lich and I both have Fearsome Stare. I slotted a couple powers with chance to stun.

It's not a damage dealer, but this build makes damn sure the enemy don't get to be damage dealers either.
