"Peddling possession" escort mission bug

Normally when you stray too far from an escorted NPC, their targeting box turns from green to blue and you have to go back and click them and they will follow you again. But "Mr. Roulette" would not follow again me after leaving his range even once. I had to exit the mission, abandon it, and re-enter, starting all over. I did this several times before very, very carefully escorting him to the targeted location.
