Plant/Storm Solo/Team build

So I'm a CoH beta vet, I know that doesn't matter to some people but whatever.  I'm more prone to working with melee builds (6 lvl 50 tanks, 4 lvl 50 scrappers, 3 lvl 50 brutes, 1 lvl 50 stalker, and both lvl 50 Kheldians) and haven't messed much with support or ranged builds at all except for a few a looonngg time ago in a galaxy far far away!

 

Basically what I'm asking is, I need some help with a build for a Plant/Storm Controller since I can't seem to find one, or if someone has made one recently that would be awesome!  I tried to ask about it on the Discord but people just pointed out Plants/??? with Seeds is destruction, and that's not much help, and really not the kind of community I'm used to from CoH honestly.

 

I've never messed with either of these powersets before, I've had a lvl 50 Fire/FF Controller, lvl 42 Grav/Kin Controller, and a 32 Ill/Rad Controller on Live way back when.  But none of them had IO builds, I kind of stopped playing them after the nerf to pets (I know, I gave up on Controllers  :'( ).

 

If anyone could be so kind as to help an old player out that would be much appreciated, I saw Plants/something in a group of mine the other day and he was crazy good, so I got interested.  Thanks in advance!

 

EDIT:  I should also mention I have another vet friend of mine who is making a Fire/Kin along with me, would Traps even work well with that much damage from him+ the Confusion Plants would bring?

What kind of goals do you have for the build? Perma-hasten? Capped Def? Any specific must have powers outside of the obvious? Also what sort of budget do you have to work with?

Well I changed my mind and went with Plants/Storm instead, due to my friend playing Fire/Kin and me having Seeds it just didn't make sense for me to be running in placing traps when most stuff would be dead pretty quickly.

 

As far as goals, perma-hasten has always been a must for me on my builds, Leadership (both of us using this), soft capped def would be nice, some healing for pets/group if I need to would be nice as well.  The builds I have seen have taken heals out of the equation (Spirit Tree), I'm guessing to try and push more damage out and get defense up, so this may be impossible I'm not sure.  I would rather not have to depend on Medicine to be my goto heal for everyone TBH, even if I have to use it on myself (le sigh.)  And probably Fire Mastery for FBall/FS/Consume for obvious reasons, unless FBlast would be a better choice.  Or if there is a better Epic pool to choose from then by all means show it to me :).

 

As far as budget is concerned, I have a farmer I'm currently working on so that won't be much of an issue, I know how much these builds can get so if possible show me a purple and non purple set.

Sorry for the delayed response, but that works out even better, as I actually have a build mapped out for that already.

 

This is the build I'm running currently. It relies heavily on Ageless' recovery, and Agility so please keep that in mind if you choose to go this route. I haven't really ran into anything it couldn't handle yet. It's managed to solo the ITF as well as the Praetorian AV's.

 

A couple notes:

Spirit Tree is not very good. I added it in there, for a little added survivability during long fights, but realistically it probably wouldn't save you in the majority of cases. You can swap this out for whatever you like.

 

The missing enhancement slot in Tornado is for the Sudden Acceleration -KB.

 

I'm not really certain how well Carrion Creepers and Freezing Rain proc since the new changes, but you could move those enhancements if you wanted without losing any set bonuses, except for a few HP.

 

I don't have a non-purple build for you unfortunately, but hopefully this will give you some ideas.
