TheVoidchildProject Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Having the same issue which while I'm of course frustrated because I'm so starved for CoH, I get that these people are paying out of pocket and using their spare time to bring CoH back so you'll hear no "you need to fix this naow" from me. This was obviously gonna be the case for something like this. I just hope they can manage the workload of such an intense project and wherever I can would like to be able to support, though I understand that's not on the table right now. And I'll eagerly be awaiting updates for a fix so I can go get my lvl 8 power! ^_^
OddWave Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Four years and three months later the problem resumes on Excelsior. Why? What to do? And also, 'Help'.
Ago Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 Keep in mind 80% of network issues are between your house and intermediate connections from your ISP to the data center. Not much Homecoming Servers people can do on that except to optimize their side. If there's 10-20 people who can't get on for the same error, you might have a issue they can look at or address. If not it could be specific to just you. General check: see how your network is doing using a SpeedTest. One I use more often than Ookla's is Fast.com from Netflix. (No ads, free.) Once the download speed is through, tap "Show More Info" and check the latency and uplink. Latency: how soon it takes a packet to reach you. The lower, the better. 10-250ms is common with Cable. 500ms or less is typical for satellite. Any connection if you have over 1000ms, you have a problem somewhere. Uplink: you can't send data faster than this rate, which may be part of why you cannot connect. 90% of home Internet service is asymmetrical, meaning you won't have the same download/upload rates. But if your Uplink speed is less than 750kbps, you may have issues connecting, even if your download bandwidth looks fine. If they look bad, the advice in "Client Diagnostics 101" may be useful for reviewing under the "NETGRAPH" area. Less likely but also possible: if you're playing at an institution (school campus) or you have a squirrely ISP those ports may be blocked on their end for an unrelated app that is affecting your login. If it's your ISP? Give 'em a call and see what's up. Institutional Wi-Fi? Not much to be done. If you're on a laptop, try playing somewhere else or on a different Wi-Fi source and see if it clears up. 1 Formerly a bunch of things that didn't work out. Inactive account. Not likely to return.
