Looking for advice/build for Savage/Rad or Savage/Inv

So as the title suggests im sort of torn, my main on live was a Claw/Regen scrapper but honestly I never thought I quite got the hang of him (my alt-itus got the better of me).  After returning to homecoming from a LONG hiatus I wanted to give another scrapper a try and Savage really looked good to me since the character is going to be a sort of werewolf.  I just don't know which one is more "survivable" or honestly if the pairings have any merit.

 

I look to the community to help me down the long and winding road...i really want to get a scrapper to 50+ as I have never been able to do it before.

 

I do primarily solo (I have no friends that play the game sadly) but I do join teams when I can.

Savage rad will be an AoE monster . And that's the one I would recommend. Inv is fine on scrappers but nothing special.
