I've recently switched to linux and I keep running into walls but I finally got the game working recently. My next wall is getting an FPS counter to work and I have been trying several things.

/showfps 1 or 2 etc command in-game doesn't show anything. This would be my ideal solution if I could get it to work but I'm more concerned with getting any sort of FPS monitoring to work at all with City of Heroes at this point.

Part of managing to get the game working at all was moving off of tequila launcher so now I believe I'm on the latest one.. not tequila or island rum etc.

I've tried a few options and I got mangohud working for steam games but I can't figure out how to get it running for CoH.

My first guess was running the launcher.exe from the terminal using (mangohud filepath) without the brackets but either I'm doing something wrong or that isn't it. I find it awkward to determine a filepath for wine apps but I think it's the launcher.exe in the bin folder going through wine's "C drive" in the 64 bit prefix.

I've tried adding to "extra launch parameters" in the homecoming launcher things like: MANGOHUD = 1 or mangohud %command%.. what people say worked on other launchers. Can you tell I'm just trying random things at this point? XD

I'm not adamant on using mangohud.. it's just the closest thing to success I've gotten since it works on other things but all I'm looking for is a functional FPS counter.. I don't even care about all the other bells and whistles.

My fancy monitor is supposed to have a built-in FPS counter but I suspect it's measuring the monitor's refresh rate rather than the FPS because the number only ever changes to show the new refresh rate I set for the monitor and never budges from there. I run benchmarking software and I can see it reporting dips into 30 fps but my monitor's FPS counter never budges from what I set it to.. 60, 120, doesn't matter.

I run hclauncher via a shell script that calls

wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Games/Homecoming/bin/win64/launcher.exe > ~/down/hclaunch.log 2> ~/down/hclaunch.err &

allows me to check the log file if there are errors in any popmenus

showfps just brings up a little FPS counter (for me in the upper right)  If you use the 3 argument, it brings up a huge Camera Position

Yeah I used to use that to track down exploration badges and whatnot when I still had windows. More convenient than constantly using /loc. I'm only concerned with the FPS counter currently but if I can get that to work too that would be great. You're saying I need to do this script thing to get the in-game counter to work? I'm gonna have to do some research if that's the case. Thanks for the reply either way.

Ok, so I checked again in case I had only tested /showfps 1 and 2 but not 3... they're all working now including 1 and 2 which I had definitely tested. I had moved the UI around to see if it was being visually blocked as well.

Either I was blind and they were working, or they just started working, or I made some mistake typing out the command. Problem solved, I guess...

Time to start messing with settings. XD Thanks.
