/ninja question

Does the crit out of hide work well with dot powers?  Like water's nova, for example.  Thinking of rerolling my water/bio sent to water/ninja.  Like, if hidden, does the crit do 1/4 damage of the whole power, or just the up front portion?  If not, may do elec/ninja instead.

I'm not entirely sure how to read this, but my interpretation is that its the damage average between the minimum and maximum values, times the recharge values (within a range) and divided by area. And the damage done is lethal.

 

If my interpretation is right, the damage you'll do on crits will indeed be a value higher than just the "upfront" amount but because water has so many AoEs the crit damage per target may be lower on average.

 

But I'm not an expert by any means on this game's noodle math, so I submit my theory for cross examination to someone with a better understanding.

You don't need to be hidden for your powers to crit, being hidden may help give you higher chances I'm sure but all your attacks get a chance to crit, even Judgements.  I think it may be 1/4 but it may be more dependent on the power.  A good reference would be the Hybrid Assault chance to proc extra damage, it works similar just not on every attack like the Hybrid when its active.

 

It feels more like @twozerofoxtrot shows where there's some formula that ends up giving 10-25% more damage based on the calculations they describe.  I'm pretty sure its upfront damage though at the first damage numbers for the power you hit with even the dots.

I probably just need to test it I guess.  I don't need another alt anyway though lol.  New tank isn't even all t4'd yet.  I'm fairly certain I had an archer/ninja and was disappointed when I finally got to Rain of Arrows and the crit opener was only 1/4 of the first of the three ticks.  It's been a couple years though.  And it could have been a sentinel too?  I've deleted more alts than I care to admit.
