Teddy Chungus Posted April 2 Posted April 2 (edited) Hello, I'm looking for advice on ice/elec build. Mostly for TF, missions, etc. I've played this set on live, but I just started on Homecoming. I normally used hover and cycle the elec ranged. Heavy on control. Probably taking cold or psi mastery. I had an alt build that was melee/aoe with lots of procs. Any help is appreciated. Edit: adding a mids build when I get home. I realize this was a very low effort post to start with. Edited April 2 by Teddy Chungus
Snokle Posted April 2 Posted April 2 (edited) I will take a look over the build a bit when one is posted, I cannot talk much for Elec Assault, but Ice Control works best and excels in melee combat. You bread and butter soft control powers work best in melee range which is Artic Air and Ice Slick. So working with a secondary that excels in melee will make the build feel much smoother but again anything works. For Ice and Psi epics, I usually prefer Res Armor Epics because Doms do not get inherited -defense debuff, so unless your primary or secondary can really take advantage of defense armor it can be tricky. Psi has the advantage of having a lot of LoTG mules which gives a bit of a bonus, but the AOE is just average. Ice armor is great and gives you high levels of def where ya want to be which is S/L, has an amazing debuff in sleet, good AOE, nice heal, and an oh shit power. The epics are always players choice but it fits what you want your character to do, as I said my preference is res armors. Aside from that control is your primary defense, with 90% recharge being the main goal to get permadom to lock down enemies. Then shore up with a layer defense mix of res/def numbers till you are comfortable. Also adding about 50% slow resistance for comfort if possible. Teddy Chungus Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 I'm going to take your advice and look around some on mids and reconsider the set. 1
Snokle Posted April 3 Posted April 3 (edited) Don't get me wrong I love Ice Control, it is a personal favorite for dominators for me. I can help the best I can with ya. I do not want to deter you from using if you want to. Just giving my experience so people can enjoy the set as much as possible. Teddy Chungus Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 Thanks much. I'm going with ice/earth. Ice is my favorite control set, and there are several secondaries that I like, so not a tough call. The epic will be harder to decide, but I can make it work with either. 1

Sounds good, I am interested to see what you plan out with /earth, as it is a great set, and I had a great time with /Earth Dom. Lots of KD potential and stun effects. Endurance can be heavy at times, but once you get more control under it you can make it a real beast! 1 Psicy Chill - Ice/Psi/Psi | Sive Ni Brielan - Plant/Earth/Fire | Elemental Elder Lord - Earth/Fire/Fire | Selinia Baneheart - Dark/Therm/Fire | Mylia Stenetch - Necro/Dark/Soul | Radiated Shot - Rad/Arch/Mace | Nameless Witch - Storm/Water/Mu | Phantom Racer - Fire/Cold/Scorp | Neera Darkspar - Beam/Temp/Soul | Neera Etra - Dark/SR | Shieldbreaker - Elec/Shield/Mu | Frozen Tombstress Ice/Rad/Ice | Subliminal Darkness - Psi/Dark/Psi | Mirana Darkblade - Katana/Regen/Soul | Máistir Fiach - SoA Huntmaster | Night Reaver - SoA Widow | Sweet Senpai - SoA Bane
Teddy Chungus Posted Sunday at 07:46 PM Author Posted Sunday at 07:46 PM Going to back burner this one and do a brute first since it's what I remember best. The Dom is almost 50, so not deleting. I'll post what I come up with though. 1
EnjoyTheJourney Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) In case this helps, I had an ice / earth / fire dominator build that I had put together, but have not yet tried. The default defense totals may look a bit underwhelming. But, much of the time controls will substantially limit incoming damage anyways. Plus, power up can boost unleash potential for much better defense totals when incoming attacks start to stack up; unleash potential should have good uptime, especially with force feedback +recharge procs in both of the AOEs in the build. Melee core hybrid and barrier core should also help further with defense totals, as well as with resists. The recovery boost in unleash potential is particularly nice for ice control because endurance burn from arctic air is high even when it's slotted with a lot of endurance reduction. Having unleash potential supported by force feedback +recharge procs should allow for taking barrier as the destiny pick, instead of ageless. Unleash and +recharge procs also makes it easier to exemp down below 50 and to still be able to manage endurance. Unleash potential also make it easier to select musculature over cardiac for the alpha incarnate pick, for better damage.
