BinaryDust Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I would like to see the power-set flipped. Summon the boss pet first. This is your number one. He/She has been with you from day one. The boss pet summons all lower tier pets. Upgrade powers are auto. The boss pet upgrades other pets. On the topic of pet upgrades. Why do we have to keep doing this? Do our henchmen forget how last week we upgraded to new weapons? Are they just attached to substandard equipment? Moving on. I would like to see different types of MMs. Now that we have hero MMs why not have pets that heal or buff? Give the MM more attack powers and have the Boss pet have powers/abilities to heal and or buff. Boss can summon medics or repair robots. The formula can be applied to many concepts. I don't see why there needs to be six pets total. This number can grow or be cut down. Anyway. Crazy idea. Thanks for taking the time. 2
OdinAZ Posted May 8 Posted May 8 OK, but if the Boss is summoning the henchman, boss is doing upgrades, and boss can heal or buff...then in is the Boss the MM? And you control the Boss? Or is that kind of what is happening now when you (player) creates a MM in the game?
SirArthurIV Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Yeah, I'm not sure how this one would balance out. I feel like mastermind theorizing should work backwards from theme. Like what do you see this working out as? the standard powerset design for any city of heroes class is that effects get bigger and more impressive the higher level they are, but you still use the lower level abilities because they keep pace as staples due to lower energy cost and recharge time. whether it's energy bolts or your standard super strength punch. In the case of mastermind you get more of your weakest minions and you train them/equip them. How would you keep a "boss" minion mundane at level 1 but still useful at higher levels and make your three henchmen as the big and impressive reward for reaching level 22?
Shocktacular Posted May 10 Posted May 10 OP, it seems like you could deal with the "boss-pet is my #1 guy" by playing it like the first T1 pet gets promoted when you get the T2 pet, then promoted again when you get the T3 (boss) pet and you keep recruiting new guys to fill the lower ranks. This also works with the "I'm starting out small but building up to the big time"-type story progression in-game. Want more from Praetoria? Check out my level 40+ Praetoria missions in AE! I've got 4 complete arcs so far (arc 4 is a two-parter). Praetorians can get to AE in Pocket D by going through Studio 55, or via a truck in Nova Praetoria.
BinaryDust Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 (edited) Sorry for the confusion. I did say it was a crazy idea. 😛 This started with me thinking about my MM. My favorite AT. What if the MM was not a Lex Luthor but was something like a Ultra Man. By this I mean Luthor is brilliant while Ultra Man is strong. No MM powers allow me (my character) to dps or tank. Why can't I dps or tank and have pets support or assist in dps? That is where the idea of having the boss pet be the first pet idea came from. Then being that MMs are now also heroes, I figured why not have a set of MM pets that heal and or buff? Let's picture a hero who jumped in to fight the Rikti in her neighborhood during the invasion. She is capable of shunting or transferring some of the damage she takes to her sister as long as she is in range. Her sister can take this energy and refine it into a healing aura. The sisters ran around their neighborhood with first responders rescuing helpless victims. After the invasion was routed the sisters founds a few like minded individuals. The six still patrol their neighborhood to this day. The very first power you get is your main or boss type pet. This pet levels up with you. He/she is your number one, your partner. This pet has one attack. A basic punch or kick, or blast. Nothing long range. The pet never gets more attacks. Instead as the pet levels up it gets heals and or buffs. Traditionally there are two lieutenants and three henchmen. Depending on the powers or skills these numbers can be adjusted to round out the power set. More importantly the power set should have more attacks for the MM character. This is just a crazy idea I wanted to share with my peeps. Thanks for taking the time to read.
