What is the Maelstrom Gala?: In short it's an attempt to bring the flare and fun of the Hellfire Gala from the Marvel comics to our world of COH. For those that aren't aware of what the Hellfire Gala is, in short, it's a high-fashion, high-stakes social event where powerful individuals gather to celebrate, network, and engage in a bit of behind-the-scenes maneuvering, all while wearing incredibly wild outfits that typically incorporate one's powers. You could compare it to an international summit or festival but with a much stronger emphasis on personal style.
