dukedukes Posted Wednesday at 08:20 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:20 PM I read in the code of conduct: Do not cheat or abuse exploits ... 2. This includes the use of scripts and programs to automate gameplay I infer from this scripting is fine if it does not automate gameplay, so what constitutes gameplay? I'll offer two things I've considered scripting: Playing an emote based on some condition (haven't touched the keyboard in 1 minute - play an afk emote) Writing multiple chat messages in a sequence (maybe a countdown, or giving info for some encounter) Would one or both of these be considered automating gameplay and be a violation of the code of conduct?
Marine X Posted Thursday at 04:37 PM Posted Thursday at 04:37 PM (edited) I would have to say no. The Automated Gameplay they are addressing involves any script that could result in AFK Combat, AFK Farming or similar actions being autonomous. Emote or Chat scripts should be fine. The only exception would be if you used a Chat Script to Spam a chat channel with a repeating message, which I swear people do on the Looking for Group channel all the time, but that would probably cause you to be automatically given a time out by the system after enough repeats. If you use it for team chat you should be fine. One of the most loved players of all time, Ascendant, who is memorialized as a NPC in Steel Canyon near Positron, had hilarious phone conversations with his agent programmed as a script. He would then place himself in a public place with them playing in local chat. If you have never heard of it, follow the link below.
