Their song, Negasonic Teenage Warhead was the inspiration for the Marvel character of the same name. Dave Windorf, the lead singer was in a band called Shrapnel who Frank Miller wrote into The Amazing Spider-Man Annual in 1980. Monster Magnet has numerous references to Marvel characters in their songs, and Dave used to shop in the comic store I managed in the mid 90's. He was always up for comic conversations and I looked forward to him coming in. I've seen this photo online at some point and was just told that it's actually a picture of Dave as a kid.
