    It really is the poster child for THE most overtuned combo in the tanking game.

    Unlimited endurance; two "nukes" that damage and debuff the enemy, heal you, heal your teammates; razor-laced vacuum cleaner of doom that clusters enemies around you; a hard-hitting RANGED melee attack; ONE resistance hole that can be easily mitigated with the crashless (basically) tier-9 on a relatively fast recharge; about thirty places for LotG +recharge...

     

    You probably get the picture. 😳

  2. Interesting... I was looking at an older SR/FM build and they had 3-4 Achilles and an annihilation and it was just surprising and made me wonder what was going on.  Would one in FSC be best for group res drop?

Not knowing what your bank account is, I threw together something on the discount end.  No purples, no ATOs, and no Winters, so it could absolutely be refined a ton to deal more damage/recharge.  The lack of those IOs also means your fire/cold resistance is a bit lacking.  That said, you would absolutely be able to run solo, group, or most TFs without issue, and the build could be bought for relatively little investment.  A week or two of casual market flipping and you should be good.

I've seen in a lot of builds, people adding -Res procs to various powers.  I get the concept, but with how fast groups often blitz through enemies, is this something that has an appreciable impact, or is it there for when you run into AV/GMs and fights last longer than 10 seconds?  How much do these procs add to team damage?  MIDS doesnt show how long the -res lasts for, can it stack across multiple powers?

    Just trying to understand the mindset for going for -res over either a chance for X damage proc, or deeper into a set, which often gives resistances, which we like.

So I love the tool set for Dark Melee, self heal, damage buff, -tohit secondary effects, its great!  I hate the lack of "oompf" the powers have.  Titan Weapon, Super Strength, Street Justice and more just feel more potent when the animations go off, heck, even the much maligned Kinetic melee feels better then doing some finger waggling.  

     

    Is there any way/mods that would allow me to see different animations when I play?  I dont even care if it adds on more attack timing, I just want the set to feel more impactful.

  7. Lurking in various build threads for Kins, there is a lot of different schools of thought regarding building for Defense, resistances, recharge, or decent in all 3 but not hard focusing.  This got me to thinking, and hence the thread:

     

    What do you build for and why?  Do you all in on defenses?  Are you pushing your resistances as high as you can?  Do you love perma hasten and getting fulcrum shift down to like 10 seconds?

    AFAIK: Spin is stupid strong on Tanker.  Higher AoE cap, wider AoE, and buffed damage.

So I was looking to make a new, SR/ lethal weapon based tanker and was looking at the various options.  I cant for the life of me figure out why I would use katana over claws if the concept didn't require a sword.  That got me thinking about Katana's place in the secondary market.  Bsword and Axe let you use a shield, TW gets the momentum mechanic, and DB has combos.  Claws and Katana both allow the same primaries, neither one has an interesting mechanic, the only real difference is follow up/divine avalanche, an attack that does less damage, but gives you a buff.  Numbers on the attack rotation even seem similar, and I cant remember ever seeing a Katana tank in game, which leads me to my question...

    When would you pick Katana and why?

  10. Never played a MM before, they have always intimidated me.  I generally prefer melee characters I can toss on a dozen toggles and mindlessly smash baddies.  That said, getting bored with that so I thought about delving into more complicated classes.

     

    Reading over the Dark miasma primer I decided that would be a decent place to start for me.  Looking over some things I spliced a few other builds, made some adjustments, and hope to get some CC on it, check if I missed anything critical, or have things in places that dont really benefit me.

  12. I've been maining tanks and other melee characters since I came back a few months ago, and have decided to give range/blasting a go.

     

    Ice seemed to have a lot of fast attack powers, and who doesnt like a good rain to finish off weakened enemies from other AoEs.  How does this build look/am I missing any main powers or build tricks?

  13. This is my Rad/Staff build... has been really strong for me, and proccing out rad therapy and ground zero give me two pretty strong mini nukes for jumping into a cluster and getting them all to notice me.   After that I'm just spamming defensive spin and eye of the storm a lot, mixing in a single target as needed.

  15. Hello fellow Tankers!

     

    I'm participating in a big leveling stream on Friday and hoping to refine my planned build for that little event so I can buy up all the IOs I'll need and stash them away safely.

     

    My biggest issue is both Shield and Street Justice seem to be fairly slot hungry if I want to get those much desired 5/6 set bonuses.  I'd love higher resistances while keeping my defense capped and a decent amount of recharge.  Since this is a leveling build, I'd like to avoid purple sets as much as possible since once I can use purple sets, those will really ramp up the F/C resist and recharge.

  16. While the obvious answer in City of Alts is both, I'm looking for opinions on which is a better/more enjoyable set as I've never played either.

     

    Both seem to have good t9 attacks, ok AoE, decent ST attack chain.  Even numbers wise they seem close.  Is the combo system cumbersome to deal with?  Do the attacks in FM not feel satisfying?

     

    I'm a player that likes staff and dual pistols because the animations are fun and hate moves like Midnight grasp because as amazing as it might be, the animation kills me (to the point I refuse to play DM)

  17. So I was running my latest tanker build in a Manticore and we had a WP/TW along and we spend the time chatting about various tanker loves.  He expounded on the virtues of WP and convinced me to give it a try.  Also having never made an Energy Melee character, figured I'd combine the two.  

    Question 1: any way to lower the pompom effects in EnM?  They are just crazy vibrant and kinda off putting.

    Question 2: How is this for a WP build?  the lack of DDR makes me a bit sad, and I couldnt get f/c res over 50% pre ATO buff without losing something else I wanted.  Thoughts?

  18. So I dropped Super Speed, since I can always just tanker "stealth" through the mission with 50%+ defenses and added Shockwave in its place.  Managed to drop a few slots I had for global end red and get it 6 slotted.

     

    ST chain can still be FU, Slash and Focus, and now I have both nice AoEs, and if I jump straight up, shockwave looks to be an interesting PBAoE 😄

  19. Since my previous SR thread indicated that SR is not a bad set, and I could still "tank" in groups without loosing aggro... CC on this build?  
    I HATE the eviscerate animation, and look to have a decent attack chain without it.  Rune gets me to minimum 60% resistance to everything with ATO

    I'd be curious on your build... this was the set I was looking at, but since I have Eviscerate animation, was thinking about cycling FU/Fo/Slash for a single target chain, and spin on like a 4 second CD.  

  21. Hello Tankers!

     

    Was looking around and notice an extreme lack of SR conversations.  There was only a few build reviews in the past 18 months, and its never really brought up in set discussions.  Is SR on tankers bad?  Does it lack things that make other sets the go to option?  It most closely resembles Shield, and shield has an AoE, damage buff, and more stock resistances, while SR gets recharge, speed, and more debuff resistances to some things.  Is the lack of any taunt aura a killer for the dive in an AoE style?

     

    How would we go about making the set better if it needs some adjustments?

  22. TBH, this is what I use my inspirations for.  I slot for end red in most powers, and if I get low, pop a blue.  If my natural regen/resistances aren't enough, pop a purp/orange and green.  

     

    ^^^  This is before incarnates, which give you a tool for just about every options there.
