Another point, Burnout and Whirlwind are among the least popular pool powers out there, if you were to replace Hasten you would need three new powers rather than one because replacing one power would justify an overhaul of the pool, which would mean replacing the useless Burnout and the unpopular Whirlwind as well...

    Aim+BU+Inferno+Burnout != useless my friend.

Cool beans. One of my characters has Permahasten. None of the rest do. About half of them don't even have Hasten 'cause I'm not trying to get optimum attack chains that eschew anything but strong attacks. It's just not important to me.

I get that it's important to you, though. Which is why my suggestion went from "Delete Hasten and replace it with a different power, then give everyone a 20% Recharge bonus inherent" to "Let's try defanging the psychological component of Hasten without reducing the power"

I got shit for the first one, and I got shit for the second one. People want it to stay perfectly unchanged, by and large. Why? 'Cause nothing can change.

The power can't change and the number of people who take it won't change 'cause that would RUIN ALL THE THINGS.

    It's really demoralizing.

Why are you so invested in this change that a disagreement from internet strangers demoralizes you?

It isn't broken and it doesn't need fixing. Some people are passionate about that, more passionate than you are about changing it. If you want to change a core feature of the game...something that's been around since Day 1...you better have a really good argument on why it's broken and you better have a really good idea on how to fix it.

So far...and I say this with respect...you haven't provided either. You made an unsubstantiated claim and followed up with a pair of overly complicated fixes that don't...in your own words...actually change anything. You just have to fiddle with crap more. I like my 2 slotted Hasten just fine, tyvm. You haven't even scratched the surface of convincing me that there's a problem that you have the solution for.

Yep. Even with these proposed changes I'd expect Hasten to be something that 90% of builds still pick up at some point.

I could see something in IO's.

LotG Global recharge: If Hasten 7.5% global if not Hasten 9.5% recharge.

Same with every set recharge bonus would be ok with me. Let people build to hasten levels if they don't want to take one power.

  4. 10 minutes ago, Steampunkette said:

And it still would be with the proposed change. With ultimately no real difference to IO builds. But a psychological change that weakens the power without weakening the character, overall.

    Then why bother?

Leave it alone and pump the work into the unreleased pools. I don't care if it takes 30 seconds to change, Hasten isn't broken, it isn't OP and nobody GAF about balance. It's been the standard since release, along with Health and Stamina.

If you want to dump hasten as a pickable choice and give every toon a 70% recharge buff I'm ok with that, but after EVERYTHING in the development pipeline is done.

OK, so, I was able to buy them. It was weird though. When I did the SEARCH by name, no history showed up for Obliteration, and it showed 0 offers on 0 buying. Then I drilled down into the collapsible menu and when I found it there I saw like 173 bidding on 11 offered. Still no history though.

Then, I made an offer for one for 100 inf., which (or so I have found) will sometimes make the history show up in the bidding window. Which worked. I saw some having been sold for 3-4 mill inf. I made an offer and got one.

Is it me or does the code in the AH seem to be the buggiest part of the game?

It's easier to see the bidding history on a piece if you are actually selecting that piece in the menu, not the whole set. So searching "Obliteration" and then using the description window to scroll through will likely not get you a history.

Every once in a while it does, but not usually.

99% of the time I can get a history by selecting the individual name of the piece in the menu and then clicking on the piece on the info side.

I think this has something to do with the bucket effect, but I'm just spitballing.

Name is key part of trademark and likeness though.

Yes, but only a part.  If your character was named Frederick Strange instead of Stephen Strange, you have an homage to a phsyican that lived in the 1800's. Or one that lived in Canada.

Dr Strange in and of itself is only a part of the trademark.

Can we get some guidelines on what we can and can't do? I thought likenesses were okay you just can't name them that. If I made a Dr. Strange as a character, using the likeness but calling him Dr. Weirdo instead would this be okay?

Yes, you are correct. You could make a Dr. Strange costume and call him something other than Dr. Strange. You could technically call him Dr. Strange and use a different costume and not use a magic origin.

    Technically.

I am not the Homecoming team, but if I were and I saw a character named Dr. Strange it would be generic'd immediately. Because lawyers cost money. A lot of money.

I suspect very little thought went into crafting Super Strength, just due to priorities being elsewhere.

The animations for Jab, Punch and Haymaker were all recycled from the weapon sets. Even the alternative animations that were added later were swiped from elsewhere.

Its a core set...its been around since the beginning. It had as much thought as any other issue 0 set.

I'm not angry.  What I am is terribly depressed that I have to say goodbye to VERB, again, after putting in all that time to re-create (and fully re-Incarnate) him on this server.

I still have other, entirely original characters, but... yeah, pretty bummed tonight.

How is that a TM infringement? Or am I missing a joke?

everything you posted was just to insult and belittle me,  i didn't use verbatim when it came about the lawsuits etc, but my initial point still stands and is very valid, the server isn't legal, if Marvel attempted to sue before and it was a tie , then there isn't any concern of them trying again when in the main stream of things it is still relatively unknown, so again, i will say that since the server itself isn't legal and with them finding out a private server has been around since 2012 , why would they play nice? of course some may know more than me and i expect so, but still doesn't explain why they need to protect themselves when the project is illegal to begin with, they would have more of a field day with the hidden server for 7 years +.

EDIT: also doesn't excuse people pushing me off this game just because they disagree.

I don't know you. I have no reason to belittle you. What you posted....

assume what you want, im telling you im not angry, take it or leave it i really dont care, im all for rebuttals and discussions, but some people in this thread feel the need to be rude and be insulting when i had legitimate points as to why this is stupid, but i notice a trend, someone speaks against a change, people jump in like its cancel culture, iv'e made my point pretty clearly, people can agree or disagree, its not going to ruin someones day either way.

Everything you posted was either factually incorrect or objectively selfish. You are willing to expose the Homecoming team to the repercussions of expensive and invasive civil litigation so you can have things your way. That is detrimental to everyone.  I'm surprised that you didn't foresee internet backlash.

<--- trying not to gloat.  I'm happy with the new policy, but I'm not going to go around shouting OH HA HA at people.

    ...

Well, okay ,.. I will, but only here at my desk, where no-one else can hear it.  😄

Truth, you.  I was really surprised at how lackadaisical the team was with it.

lol HC do not own the IP of coh, that literally makes no sense, also, this server is illegal, so why try to protect it until its legitimate?

I have a feeling that explaining it to you would be fruitless, so here's the skinny...

If YOU as a user have an infringing derivative work, it exposes the Homecoming team to legal costs that they should not be exposed for you to play a game. Adult your way through the costume creator.

    1. if, and that is a big IF, HC have not made any points as to why they are in a better position than previous attempts to be legit and how the talks will go better than before.

    2. Marvel tried to sue COH before, and they failed miserably.

    3. HC is not the only server out there, and if they even cared one bit about the player base they would be representing the ENTIRE community, they are not, so those who also work hard on their ideas and coding will most likely get swept under the rug and sent a C&D while HC reaps the rewards, so yeah i don't support the decisions of this server as of lately because its all a facade until something becomes concrete.

    4. since i mentioned COH were previously sued, and they won, this code of conduct update changes nothing apart from upsetting those who enjoy their favourites characters.

    1. It doesn't matter

    2. You are straight up wrong.

    3. So what and bullshit.

    4. You were previously wrong and nobody gives a crap about your fav-5.

This affects everyone equally in that we will continue to enjoy the game.
