I don't believe I've said that it wasn't the goal. I understand that Tankers doing more, easier, without changing play pattern was the objective. The changes reach their goal.

I'm saying meeting that goal doesn't fix the problem of two ATs being too similar with one just having more output (It just changes which has more output), while changing tankers to a primary damage identity, and adds a very strongly scaling effect that in my opinion is being under accounted for.

I read this and I think "What problem"? If I have a concept for a melee toon that I will inevitably be playing solo at some point now I don't have to chose between a Brute and a Scrapper. I can now throw Tanks into the mix.  That isn't on option with the Live version.

  2. Has anyone Solo'd the Market Crash?

I was talking with a friend tonight about duo'ing the TF and can't make up my mind if I should suggest 2 solo capable scrappers or a brute and a support.  It'll come down to budget I guess,  I've got 120m to spend but probably don't have a toon that would be a lot of help in an AV fight, except maybe an Ice/Rad corruptor, but the adds... Traps seems iffy because of the AoE.

    Anyway, what's your thoughts?

I really have to applaud the diligence of taking notes on what you're selling/buying, etc. I don't do that at all.

That said...here's my observations: Selling anything for 1million? That's just not worth the time. I want sales of at least $3M for each IO. So, I burn through a few more converters. But it's paid off for me.

Always take note of how many are on the auction block. There are people who played the market back when the HC CoH first came back, and prices were much higher. Numina's proc used to sell for a lot more than it does now, that's certain! I don't take notes, so I can't say, but pretty sure they were close to 8M inf. So, stands to reason that a percentage of ALL the typical money makers are for sale, but will likely never sell, because they're priced too high for today's market.

If there are less than 30 of the items for sale, you still have to look at the other IOs within the set. You don't want to be too greedy, or people will buy the cheaper IOs within the set and convert, leaving you without a sale. If they're all pretty low in inventory, you can probably afford to sell at a good price. One that's fair, not excessive. I think 4M for any damage resistance armor is about as high as you should go, but not as high as you could go, as an example.

Currently, LotG 7.5% seem to be dropping in price..for now. Whomever is selling them is either wanting to manipulate the price, or is just wanting super quick sales. I have a number of these for sale at what used to be the going price. I aim to wait out the cheap sellers, because the LotG 7.5% are simply worth the 7-8M price. They're so valuable in my mind, I really think they should be going for 10M, but the market disagrees. So, I price to sell in the 7-8M range.

If the market says they're not worth that much over the long haul, that's fine. I have characters that will level up and use them eventually, and I'll save inf instead of make it.

Interesting that you use level 31's, presumably to save on crafting costs. But, you have to be careful. Some recipes are going to be cheaper in converter costs by using level 41 recipes. Or level 10's. Etc. Some of you will immediately know what I'm talking about. I'm confident the rest of you will figure it out in due time.

Really, though, I love the diligence of taking notes, just wish I had been doing the same.

I've crafted and sold about 25 of them in the last 2 days, I post at the average of the last 5 -10%. I do that on every IO I sell.

I've decided to forgo recipes and just buy IO's. I have kept bids on a few that I can reliably buy at less than 300k, and to my surprise they flow in at a pretty decent clip. I feel like if I use merit converters then I can afford to use 9, if I used AH converters I can use 6. I went from 20m in seed money for a newly PL'd fire farmer to 170m in two days. I took a break from converter roulette and did about 9 Super Packs along the way. I kinda like them. The return is worth it.

I do still craft, but not nearly as much. Recipes I want to keep and defense/health recipes that I can convert. The defense/health recipes I'm not willing to pay enough for to get a lot of.

I definitely support people pushing the boundaries of good taste and cultural norms. And think even racist and racial commentary are open to making jokes and artistic expression, or whatever you want to call it? But I think you are REALLY playing with fire here. It is fine if you want to do a one man show in your local theater or something. But in a publicly available game, where there are likely many children, some of whom are certain to be members of the racial groups you are play acting with as a racist, you will almost certainly run smack into some serious trouble.

I am not telling you not to do it, and I am not saying you don't have the right to do it (that is up to the admins)

What I AM saying is that you will almost certainly get banned for doing what you describe. In spite of all the pains you describe planning to take to guard against offense it WILL NOT WORK. All it will take is one eight year old telling their mommy, "this man said the word <insert racial slur here> to me, a lot!" and you will get banned. It might even make the news. In a bad way.

Like I said, I don't mind if you try this. It is no skin of my nose.  But I will be SUPREMELY surprised if you pull it off for more than a couple game sessions.

    I'm not 8.

You can better believe I'd report a Nazi themed character making racial slurs. If that toon wasn't generic'd within a reasonable time frame I'd not hesitate to make some public noise about it. If there were no adjustment made, I'd drop this or any game environment in a heartbeat and I'd put it out there as a place that promotes racism and white supremacy. Because it isn't ok. And frankly, it bothers me that there are people who would tolerate that.

Fortunately, the OP doesn't appear to be a person to behave in that manner so it's a bit off topic and I'll leave it at that.

As for using signature characters, if I read that right, that is also against the Code of Conduct. You can use the ready-made Signature Characters made available for AE Arcs, but you cannot recreate them or use their likeness. At least, that's how I perceived it.

    Here's the relevant snip:

    Quote

Additionally, creating copies of signature characters from the City of Heroes lore is not permitted. As with the retail version of the game, these are only to be used by staff. Use of these characters in Architect Entertainment and character backstories is permitted.

What I believe is being said here is that you may not create a player character signature character.   You may use them in a backstory of a player character. You may not play Ms Liberty, but you can say that you are her BFF.

You may use those signature characters in the AE as you please.

Stalker vs Scrapper damage. My stalker can crit pretty much on demand. Scrappers get the  +50% crit proc that seems godly to me. Seems to be a wash.

It isn't. Scrapper Crit ATO is only good for 3.5 seconds and the animation of the attack must finish inside that duration, so long duration powers like Spine Burst or Thunder Strike are kinda hosed. It's awesome for builds with 2 damage aura's/really fast animating attacks. Not so much for the big hitters.

Stalkers also get the Build up proc, which refreshes the recharge on the Build Up power. It triggers globally, meaning it will fire from any attack, not just the attack it's slotted to. I have seen it fire 3 times in a row. I can with my BS stalker from time to time run for 30-40 seconds under the Build Up buff with a couple of procs from Gaussian  You figure careful management of AS hide proc and placate for crit on demand, coupled with the team +crit bonus and you will leave a BS scrapper in the dust for damage output.  Way way behind.  The hardest part is efficient target switching so you don't overdamage with the T8/9.

Additionally, the stealth proc fires more often than the scrapper crit proc. The scrapper crit proc is only good for 3.5 seconds, and the animation of the attack has to complete before the timer ends.

Building and slotting a stalker to outdamage a scrapper with the same attack set is trivially easy. It's just expensive.

That said there are OFC scrapper builds that will run neck in neck with a stalker builds, and I can't imagine solo farming +4/8 on a stalker but I'm sure there are people who do. Probably not as quickly as say spine/bio, but it would be doable. I haven't tried a Elec/SD stalker but since Chain Induction, LR and SC don't crit the scrapper version has to be better.

The (really stupid) answer: I snagged a name that's a pun on the word Nazi and want to use it.

Not a roleplayer but the thread caught my attention so I'm posting a reply:

You should go with a John Banner/Sgt Schultz type of buffoon.

Teaming with someone that is spoofing Nazis would be a hell of a lot more palatable than your OP.

  8. Personally I  want a weapon that is invisible until you get aggro'd by something. Then it animates grabbing and swinging that something. Kill skuls with skuls.

I'll settle for a scythe, because a Carl Childers toon running around with bags of warsh and eating biscuits and mustard would be freaking epic.

You keep trying to apply math to a post about subjective feedback

The game is driven by math. The math works. I cant get behind a suggestion to break what works because of feelings. There are in-game solutions to your issue. You have been given multiple resolutions, but you insist on changing everything else to accommodate what you want.

Question for you.  How do you get around?  The only travel power I see is Hover.  Do you rely on Quickness/Swift/Run combo along with Ninja Run?  Then Hover for vertical needs?

There's 2 versions of the premium sprint (ninja/beast run) which are serviceable and there's 3 varieties of the prestige flight (Flying Carpet, Rocket Board, Void Skiff). The prestige flight can't be used for combat but it is pretty fast. You also have to retoggle after using it, but it's worth it if you don't want to burn a power on a travel.

Several posts in the Tanker feedback thread stated that the aggro cap is the same across all ATs due to being tied to critter (mob) AI, so there isn't an easy way to have separate caps by AT.

The source for that is from a GM post in these forums. What was posted paints a picture of the change being impossible without the resources of a full studio. It's either 17 for everyone or nothing. I did spend a few minutes searching but I don't have the link.
