  1. LMAO. And that's the reason why it dives me crazy when I miss hitting a door when I'm standing right in front of it. As much as I love CoH, the system wasn't designed to recognize distance. I'd love to see point blank range added, but I don't know if the system could accommodate something like that. But I LOVE this picture!!
  2. And this is the reason why when YOU say something works or if something is broken, I just accept it and move on. LOL
  3. I absolutely agree. I know the math is solid, but perception is a funny thing. I just feels off even though it's not -- kind of like walking through the spinning tunnels in a fair and falling down. Mathematically, the floor is still and you're walking normally, but your perception causes the fall. Still, I'd rather have it this way than the way Champions does it. EVERY attack is a hit unless you are equipped with high-level avoidance.
  4. Thank you for the response. My love for Fire as a blaster is the quick animation. It feels like you're throwing everything at blazing speed. Dark always felt slow to me -- and AR is downright painful to play. It's animations are SO SLOW!! Is Dark as fast as fire? Very few NPCs have TA. I've always speculated that a team with TA secondaries would(ve) been able to wipe out anything on the planet. The new nerd with only one Disruption arrow at a time REALLY stinks. I love(d) using my TA controllers!
  5. I absolutely agree with this statement except there are a LOT of ways an NPC can nuke your defense: swords, psionics, guns, radiation, water.. almost every powerset has at least one -defense in it somewhere. And some sets have a TON of -def. However, not a lot of NPC's have -tohit resistance (and if I'm wrong, please let me know). So in this regard, -tohit seems a lot more reliable than +def. I learned that lesson the hard way after soft-capping my fire/dev blaster on ranged defense and then running into a group of eight psychics. A literal fifteen seconds later and I was face-planted on the floor. Wondering if a dark/dev blaster would have been better. Maybe I should just scrap blasters and controllers and just be a freakin' tank. Less fun solo, but at least I don't die as much.
  6. Yeah, I'm starting to agree. My fav builds now all involve pets. Unless you can throw 91% tohit blasts every single time against every single opponent, you're going to get creamed in large groups OR you play with small groups at lower levels. And defense is a joke. RNG is a beast. I mean, storywise you're supposed to be an Incarnate. The baddest of the bad. Getting flattened by a group of Nemesis because of bad rolls is depressing.
  7. Oh, okay. That makes sense. Was wondering what was going on with that. I thought a miss with a 95% chance to hit guaranteed a streakbreaker as the next result. You can see how this would be confusing as a lot of the posts here made that declaration without mention of the next. All good now. Thanks.
  8. Nope, this is happening on single-target attacks only. No auras, PBoE or AoE. I took five or six more screenshots just to make certain.
  9. I have woefully given up on allowing myself to become upset over a constant string of misses. One thing that everyone seems to agree on is that the streaks are streaky and anything under a (91? 92?) certain percentile can allow multiple misses to go unchecked. I have resigned to the fate that I am among the supernaturally unlucky. What I find fascinating now is that a 95% chance to hit that misses, doesn't automatically generate a streakbreaker on the next shot. Three times in a five minute period, I have missed with a 95% chance to hit and the next shot didn't involve streakbreaker -- but the one after it did. Is this because of the update? I don't remember seeing anything that related to the streakbreaker, but then again, I have a life, a wife and a fulltime job. :P
  10. Whatever you say, but we "just" had a debate on this topic earlier. However, I am not here to change your mind. You may believe what you will.
  11. Fish heads, fish heads Roly-poly fish heads Fish heads, fish heads Eat them up, yum… 😜
  12. Umm, you might want to take a look at the other posts above. That isn't always the case. LOL.
  13. Okay, I understand the accuracy ( trust me, I slot as much accuracy as I can), bit i thought the P2W powers were a streakbreaker killer. I received this link from someone in this post that gave a few very thorough reasons why streakbreaker wasn't working for them--including the fact that P2W weapons were considered "streakbreaker killers." https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Attack_Mechanics#The_Streak_Breaker And my problem is that some of my controller need those additional attacks, much like a scrapper/tank can use Nemesis Staff as a distance attack. I didn't know that it would be killing my chance for streakbreaker. Thanks for the infamy tips! The bad things about DO's is that they aren't available in Praetoria at lower levels (or are they and I just missed how to get them? The first zone is all training enhancements). And yes, the majority of my problems are with lower toons. My level 50+ has enough defense debuffs to floor Mako without using a Rad. It's the lower level grind that kills me. Normally, I'll play the lower level missions using the flashbacks in Oro, but again... you cant do that with Praetoria missions. Grrr... Happy to hear more insights!
  14. That actually explains a lot. I've missed SEVERAL TIMES in a row with a 95% chance to hit. It is the most frustrating thing in the world. This provides an answer to that question. Thanks!
  15. Okay, I understand and I'll drop this topic, but honestly, it's less fun to play this game at lower levels because of these reasons. Assuming I have a defense slot to put Kismet, I'd need a few million infamy just to purchase it. As a noob, I don't have that kind of money (if I were an actually newbie to the game). Likewise, taking Tactics means I'd need to take two powers (Maneuvers or Assault and then Tactics) instead of taking two attack powers, hence increasing my dependency on the P2W items. And since we've already established that the item needs can drop you in a lower accuracy bracket, which affects streak breaker, you could wind up missing a lot more than you normally would. Here's the deal, the game ALMOST penalizes you at the beginning--and this is where you need the Sands of Mu and Nemesis Staff the most. I'm also guessing the Envenomed Dagger and Stun Grenades do the same thing. Again, I have learned to bow to the wisdom of a more enlightened source, but I have to be honest, it's a bitter pill. And I understand the cell doors, I honestly do, but in a game where missing happens enough to warrant a streakbreaker program, I'd have just made it more resistant to damage, which is the most logical choice. No more new toons for me--not unless I can find a good AE farm to get me to forty. I must be the unluckiest person alive because I miss A LOT. I'd be happy to send you my combat logs. Thank you for taking time out to answer this question. Much appreciated.
  16. One statement, one observation and one question: At low levels, I do not fight anyone who is a higher level than me EVER. My misses are not attributed to that. And while I appreciate your comments, this doesn't explain misses to doors and other immovable objects. I'm a villain and I spend a decent amount of time in jail. How do these +tohit buffs affect P2W items? It has been said on numerous boards and in this thread that using such items puts the user in a lower accuracy bracket. Wouldn't this affect the chances of hitting an opponent? i did not know about mixing ranged, targeted aoe and PBAoE. Thanks for the insight. I look forward to receiving answers from someone with knowledge instead of people just stating opinion.
  17. I can agree with some of those points, but what are you supposed to do if you want to play that build Redside or Yellowside where it's darn hard to find a team? Now this is just rationalizing, because this is an easy fix: don't put the P2W attacks in the lower accuracy bracket. Done. Fixed. Everyone's happy. You don't need to mess with ANYTHING else. So instead of saying, "you shouldn't make that build if you aren't going to be teaming much" (like we USED to say to Defenders), just fix the issue. I mean, technically, you could say the same thing to blasters. And yeah, most controllers have it rough early on because they don't get pets until late in the game and the majority of group holds have long recharge times and Immobs don't stop attacks. I'd be real curious to know what controllers you're playing that allow you to solo early in the game without issues. I guess that I am like the majority of the other posters--very unlucky.
  18. Absolutely agree though I cringe at the word, "rationalize."
  19. That is the most optimistic outlook you could possibly have, but let's be HONEST here--they were lazy and didn't program it like that. I see where you're coming from but in REALITY, you're missing the door completely.
  20. I understand that, but if you miss four shots in a row, and then streakbreaker gives you one, and then you miss another four shots in a row, then you're dead. Faceplanted. Streakbreaker helped you ONCE. if you check the streakbreaker tables, it will let you miss up to EIGHT attacks in a row. Now if you're a lowbie who is relying on Sands of Mu and the Nemesis Staff as your only real means of attack, how fun will the game be?
  21. So what makes this a terrible thing is that when you're just starting out, you don't have a lot of attacks or slots, so a lowbie character is probably slotting accuracy and damage in those few attacks--not recharge. A lowbie toon RELIES on Nemesis staff, Blackwand, brawl and Sands of Mu as an additional attack. Hell, I know level 50's that still use those items! And since them automatically throws you in a lower accuracy bracket, what does it do for the +tohit that Beginner's Luck offers? If those objects negates BL then it's all a wash. That could be a reason why everyone is missing so much in lower levels. And poor controllers and MM's RELY on those abilities since they have so few attacks, as per their designs. See, this is what I'm talking about--this is the difference between using a product and testing a product. As someone who has been in software for twenty years, these are the things you need to consider when deducing playability. Instead of just saying, "so you miss a few, deal with it" INVESTIGATE the issue and find out if it's an actually problem or not. Can anyone even confirm is Beginner's Luck is actually working now?
