I got one to 50. I used the heal from dark and mostly tried to be in melee. The cones are hard to use a bit but workable. Can immobilize then jump in (I used combat teleport) to start the -res and blap away. Some of the holds are nice in /sonic and you can proc them out if you’d like. Defense and survivability were ok-ish- maybe not great for soloing but you could make it work for solo with enough influence. all in all, concept is most important, so if you have a concept you like, go for it. My favorite heroes have all been ones for whom I’ve had a good concept in mind. Have fun!

Anything will work. Blaster is a great AT. If you’re soloing, can consider sonic as well. You will get -resist to enemies, and also a lot of cc in the form of a knockback and sleep cone. I have one and really enjoy that combo. you won’t go wrong with any primary.

Hey, I play this combo and enjoy it. I don't quite hit the soft cap for range but would be easy if you gave up a proc or two. I went with munitions for flavor, but if you wanted to lean into the debuffing you could go cold and pick up snow storm to use with spore cloud, maybe use the flash freeze power in place of sleep grenade (both can use procs for some aoe damage), and pick up hoarfrost and/or hibernate. I honestly think cold would be a better epic set, but munitions fit my theme better. On slotting, I stacked up some +%, and tried to use procs in vines and sleep grenade for some extra AOE, along with cutting beam + disintegrate. I like single shot over charged slot as a filler due to faster attack animation to spread the disintegrate. I like surveillance and piercing beam to reduce defense. I got the +to hit over 20% for the insta snipe and it's a heavy hitter. I like this toon, plays differently from many of my others; strictly ranged, but it's quite satisfying to nuke things from range IMO Happy to hear feedback and all the best This Hero build was built using Mids Reborn 3.4.7 https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! EDIT: I'll include this, but it occurred to me I can dump howl and replace it with web grenade or caltrops, freeing up a spot for sirens song, which I can put armageddon into. Higher damange and will proc out with armageddon so both cones provide some knockdown. Still not sure how to slot caltrops or web grenade, I'll post another build later. In case anyone is interested, here was a quick (too quick) build I made after Meknomancer helped me out with his/her feedback. Ok, I do enjoy this guy, maybe I'll make 2 builds for him. Anyway, I posted another variant, which does look solid and will incorporate the advice of @Meknomancer I left toxic web grenade and caltrops open. I'd probably slot one of them with a purple set, although perhaps better to proc them out? (who knows given the possible upcoming changes). Resistances are better and could swing some slots that way. I took out kismet as it seems my targeting drone will provide adequate accuracy/to hit. I could add it back if needed. Range at 45% and with shockwave being part of the regular attack rotation I think I'll probably have adequate recharge. I'm hoping FF covers the recharge decrement... I think it will. @Meknomancer Thanks for taking time to critique it man, appreciated. I'll drop the stupefy from screech for lightning strike. Will get me above 45% ranged defense. I don't see a way to fit in toxic nade- unless I let caltrops go. On the knockback, I meant the knockback from the stupefy proc, sorry. Usually when I'm on my ST attacks everything else is dead, and knocking around a random guy doesn't matter. I'll get rid of stupefy in screech for sure, maybe I overemphasized recharge 🙂 Any suggestions on chasing the SL defense? I thought massive recharge plus ranged was attainable, not sure I can work in the others I don't like the mu striker.... but maybe for a min/max exercise I'll see if I can fit a resist in. I liked the 6 spots for defense sets because I could get the scaling resist set recharge bonus pluse 5 LOTGs. Again, appreciate the feedback! The knockback, caltrops, pets, pbaoe ult and trip mine help a lot with mitigation, even taser can be a bit useful. Wish I could have fit the sleep cone in, will give it a try. I will see if I can work in toxic grenade, a resist set with pet (so MU i guess) and use the FF proc to make up the difference in recharge. Although, this thing is melting so good on teams. I'll have to try it solo, but I don't solo much....

Hi all, I've been trying to get as much recharge as possible for dual gun drones, while (nearly) capping ranged defense. I'm happy to hear criticism/feedback. In practice, I've been melting things, but happy to tweak it! Some notes: 1) I don't love armageddon in caltrops. I wanted 5 of the purple sets and thought it might be the best place since I was using set bonuses for 2) Stupefy I know won't bring as much damage to the table as some other sets for my single target rotation. I don't mind the knockback, and stupefy brings recharge +ranged defense 3) I kind of liked the idea of preventive medicine in field operative for extra recharge, but the ranged defense was nice in preemptive optimization. Also, slotting the endurance was a big help because the gun drones cost of a lot of endurance and I was finding my blue bar dipping a bit too low for my tastes 4) I do want to use spiderlings. I like having my 3 spiders and gun drones in play while I lower the resist of enemy packs 5) not sure about the IO recharge reduction in gun drones; maybe franken slotting better? 6) I know shockwave looks weird. I like the proc, ranged defense and force feedback here (really the only place for FF) Anyway, happy to hear any improvements, going for recharge and ranged defense with this one. I do toe bomb with dreadful wail and trip mine, but I find things are usually dead or stunned before they can retaliate, so I didn't worry as much about melee s/l defense This Hero build was built using Mids Reborn 3.4.7 https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! Grav/Storm/Leviathan w/ Sorcery - need build help
professoronblow replied to BazookaTwo's topic in Controller
Thanks @Uun and @Carnifax for substantive feedback, much appreciated. I made some of the changes you suggested. Of note, I couldn't slot expedient reinforcement into lightning storm, maybe a problem with mids vs a change in the game... will have to test later. I made the weird choices I did for set bonuses... but the tradeoff was poor, in retrospect. Again, appreciate the time involved in looking over a build, and providing critique, mighty generous of you. Here is take two; just a smidge below cap on ranged defense, at cap for energy and negative, and reasonable-ish resist to smashing/lethal. I worked in enflame and singy and tried to pay attention to the blue bar... still looks like it might be hungry but not as bad. the winter's set in lightning storm may or not be a good idea, was chasing more +recovery and defense bonuses Otherwise, made the choices you recommended and it looks a lot better. I ditched coralax, waste of time. I don't like propel but it works ok to get defense up.... still have 3 slots leftover to go wherever... maybe a kismet vs more accuracy in some key powers? Or decrease further recharge on freezing rain? Thanks again!!!! This Hero build was built using Mids Reborn 3.2.17 https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! Grav/Storm/Leviathan w/ Sorcery - need build help
professoronblow replied to BazookaTwo's topic in Controller
Hi! I have a 50 grav/storm I haven't tricked out yet and was thinking of this very same idea, because tornadoes obviously. Here is something I came up with. You can very easily forego coralax to get some extra slots or an extra power, maybe slip some more accuracy in. I was thinking ST rotation of gravity distortion (with some procs) arcane bolt (for more regen) and lift. On teams you drop lightning storms and the tornadoes, enflame singy, stun with wormhole, and drop freezing rain. I think there is plenty to do. Thanks @Spaghetti Betty and @Yomo Kimyata, lots to think about and I will absolutely rework it. I'm not as familiar with the hami-os or d-syncs, so cool to have a build to look at and dissect. I didn't know about consume giving resistance to end drain. Wonderful and will work it in. Hmm, will definitely 6 slot the heal, and likely drop innocuous strikes, even though I like the overlapping cones both with knockdown. Was thinking precise strike, guarded, innocuous then burn, then finisher if anything left (redraw annoying but it works), maybe using the knockdown to keep the enemies in the burn patch and mitigate damage, but no place for apocalypse then. I may keep rune of protection. My character is butterfly themed and wanted her to fly... and I like ROP. Does the panacea plus health and endurance work in spirit bond? I think so, or at least my understanding was that you could put that proc anywhere and it would grant your character the increased end and health. I'll look at it. What about using a power like combat teleport for gaussian's and the reticle power that grants perception? would that help with perception issues that you mentioned @Spaghetti Betty? Could the gaussian's go off with any regularity if I TP into some mobs and fire off burn when fiery embrace is down? I do think I need the build up, with enough recharge it should pay dividends and I think the correct calculus is to build for recharge. THANK YOU both, I really appreciate this community and your responses

I think yours is a better build, although I love the water spout and hibernate I find to be very useful. The better damage output on yours (need to test) is likely better mitigation than hibernate. Thanks! On slotting knockback, the powers it went in mostly knock down, not back, so it hasn't been a problem for the most part. Still, probably more slot-effective ways to get the negative resistance. I dunno, consume I find lackluster. Have to activate it and kind of a long recharge time.... otherwise though I really like the build, and I thank you. One last thing; there are no -resist procs there. Are you thinking that teammates will generally provide the -resist? Or are they not worth it due to the PPM mechanics/not firing often? Precise strike the way you slotted it has a LOT more damage than mercurial blows, so I think you made a great choice, like twice. Should have tried that. Thanks a lot, so many different ways to do things in this game. EDIT: I was typing as Yomo was responding. Thanks! you totally answered most of my questions. Makes sense, and thanks for the magnitude explainer.

Hi all! So, this is literally my first melee character. I always play ranged haha. Also, I never browse the forums until I level to 50, and just pick powers that I think look or sound cool, or for which I have a concept. I landed on staff/fiery, perhaps two duds. I'm still, nonetheless, having a good time with the character, perhaps due to the novelty of playing a scrapper. Here is my proposed build and would love some feedback on it. Some thoughts/background: 1) i was going to use knockdown procs in my cones to add some mitigation 2) I wanted negative resist a bit higher due to a desire to run some higher level ITFs 3) I wasn't sure if burn would really accept the critical hit proc, I've heard conflicting things 4) accuracy could use some help but not sure kismet matters that much 5) there is a big psi hole which I could perhaps close a bit by moving some slots to the resist powers and slotting some impervium/aegis 6) I don't export builds often so apologies if formatting issues etc. This Hero build was built using Mids Reborn 3.2.17 https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! Thanks, I enjoy your builds very much. One thing I've found is that shockwave procc'd out with FF seems to help with recharge. I think sonic really benefits from getting its nuke out as often as possible, since it's one of the best in the game and I'm trying to offset some of sonic's weaknesses. Also, I like keeping 2 gun drones up as much as possible. Can I ask the gurus here a unrelated question? Does the gun drone ever proc extra damage? For example, extra psionic damage from the taunt IO set (forgot the name)? Is this useful in terms of goosing its damage? Thanks again JJ!

Well, here is a build I put together. Critique/commentary welcome. The idea is leverage the following strengths, while keeping ranged defense near soft cap (will probably drop in combat due to field operative): 1) dreadful wail, an awesome nuke. I wanted it up as often as possible 2) pets up as much as possible 3) aoe comes from shockwave/dreadful wail/time bomb and/or howl if needed. Amplify fires before shockwave Single target would be shriek (stack resist-), shockwave (force feedback) shout. There is some slotting flexibilty here. I took grav anchor mostly because I had the IOs already. I don't think this is optimal, but perhaps a starting place. Also, first time posting a build, so hopefully this works!!! Hey all, First, thanks to everyone who contributes. There is so much great information here! I have a poison/rad who I’m very happy with, and looking to try a poison/elec. my thoughts were to have a procced out poison trap and mu. Would use adept (summons) and voltaic for damage. a couple of questions arose for me. 1) does anyone have a build that works for this power set combo? 2) will poison -res help with sapping/increase magnitude? 3) are the animation times for elec just too long to be workable in fast moving groups? Short circuit is 3 seconds ouch 4) is damage really lackluster? thanks for any help!

Hey all, after a recent hiatus I’ve started playing again. I love blasters and leveled up a sonic/devices. I know sonic has issues, but I love the -res and wanted to leverage it as much as possible, realizing that it will still probably underperform blasters with say fire primaries. The idea would be to use the gun drone (build for recharge so two are up) and a pet (spiderlings or mu pet) to dish out some pain while debugging with sonic. I’d run assault to (I think) buff pet damage further. any thoughts? This is for pve, where anything can work, but again, wanted to maximize sonic. If anyone had experimented with a secondary that would leverage sonic -res better would love to hear. I can post a build if there is any desire for it but I’m hardly that good at them. many thanks!

Secondary choices for “debuffing” primaries
professoronblow replied to professoronblow's topic in Blaster
Thanks all, some combos I hadn’t thought of. I know people say sonic is better on corrupters and defenders but I like it on my blaster so far. Was thinking sonic/mental as well. Extra cone and pbaoe to complement the cones in sonic and dreadful wail but the extra power and range from energy could be really cool. Maybe have to roll both -
Hello, long time lurker but first time poster. after much casting about and trying different play styles, I’ve come to the conclusion that the most fun for me is blasters, specifically those with a debuffing primary. Have a sonic/devices that is fun but I’m thinking I may be able to pick a different or more optimized secondary. so, would like to ask the community which secondaries they think pair best with the following primaries: 1) sonic 2) radiation 3) dark 4) ice I’m looking for secondaries that complement the primary set the best in your opinion. thanks for any help!!!! Edit; I only do pve, usually with groups but just interested in the opinions of some of the coh grognards on these sets. Thanks to anyone who has ideas!
