Dark Watcher's War Zone Arc, if you haven't done it already.

The title/objective of the last mission in the arc is "Save the World". 😎

This is what I would do. Really awesome final mission.

What's better than farming for inf building?

Playing the market on the auction house. There are many guides in the forums for this. It is the fastest way to generate tons of influence.

If you don't want to do that, then:

Play the game and earn reward merits, then convert those to items that you sell on the auction house. When Hess was the WST I ran it with 24 different toons, which generated 2,736 reward merits which I turned into enhancement converters that I sold for at least 191M (list prices were 70K, a small percentage of those bids sold for up to 85K, as well as around 10 hitting a few typos or very impatient bids)

You do realize the current devs didn’t write most of the old blueside stuff right?

Beyond that, certain things will eventually come to light via play (like the Lost, whose true origin you can almost surmise right now, if you out the clues together). Other stuff you leave behind. You want to know more about Dr. Vahz without reading a wiki? Good luck. Vahzilok arcs end at level 20. Skulls? They’re a street level gang with some connection to the ‘Dine trade. Need more than that? Well, there isn’t more, since they, too, cap at 20 (in AE, anyway…in game maybe lower). By the time you’re at 20, you’re moving on to Warriors, Sky Raiders, Tsoo etc. There are, in fact, only a few groups that span levels 1-54. They’re the…well…you should check the wiki.:-)

(or maybe play redside, which has a nice “Destined Ones” arc you can follow, or Goldside, which has you working with various factions)

I disagree with this to a certain extent. The Petrovic brothers (Skulls) play a role (albeit off-screen) in Provost Marchand's 30+ arc. You can also encounter them again in Doc Buzzsaw's new arc (The Freakish Lab of Dr. Vahzilok 30+), which implies some future content ("The Lords of Death are still out there, Character. As is my sister").

Also the new content with Agent Watkins and Doc Buzzsaw has extended the Vahzilok content out through the 30s.

Will I ever find out where they are getting Rikti weapons or what the inspiration is behind their changes, their point of view, or is it just some quasi-Lovecraftian sideshow?

    Yes. Play Montague Castanella's arc.

I have done half of their story act, learned a little about their leaders, but all I know about the organization is still what I read in their descriptions in the beginning - that they are a death cult (yet somehow also dedicated drug pushers). Well, have they had any success in overcoming death?

Play the rest of the King's Row Skulls arc (Eagle Eye)

    1 hour ago, temnix said:

IOr take the Vahzilok: from the first ID cards I knew they were creations of someone called Dr. Vahzilok, and by the end of his story arc I knew just a little more about his motivation. Is this all the depth there is to the groups? How about digging deeper, then, developers?

Run Posi 1& 2. You can solo Posi 1. Also, run Agent Watkins arc. Then run Doc Buzzsaw's arc.

I don't know how hard it would be to modify contact text but after I did all the arcs red side I side switched and, since I was still in the 20s, went to talk to her.  She introduced me to the Hansens but I was kind of hoping she'd call me a big jerk face or something but it was just standard "move along to next contact" text.

Agree! After the arc I immediately went to see if Stephanie was gone ala Aaron Theiry.

  6. Ever since it was introduced in Issue 3, Striga Isle has been one of my favorite zones. I love how the four story arcs flow into each other and how they culminate with you being introduced to Ernesto Hess. The Hess TF is my favorite TF - I absolutely love the build up to the giant mech, how you first see its feet, then it's head, ending with the epic fight up the catwalks to Burkholder inside the volcano. The temp powers you get through these arcs are amazing... Stephanie Peebles' wedding ring is a great trick to use when you get in trouble, and the War Wolf Whistle is great when you need that extra bit of DPS when soloing.

I enjoyed it so much I made an alternate version of Stephanie Peebles. I like that I was able to incorporate her wedding ring into her costume (the cape brooch) and with psionic blast it really looks like the power of the ring is manifesting when she attacks.

So yes, I'm a big fan of Striga content and was very excited to check out the new Villain Striga content. And boy was I not disappointed! I love tying the Crimson Prototype back to the Council's Giant Mech and the monster hunting with Orpheus. And last but most certainly not least, the epic last arc where you have to take down the last witch of Striga.

I'm not going to lie. I knew that this last witch was probably going to be Stephanie Peebles. But when the mission text said:

I got goosebumps. YES! I knew Stephanie was a HERO. Let's goooooooooooooooooooooooo! I love how the arc designer was confident enough in the players that we would immediately understand who The Last Witch was when we read this. And I'm not going to lie y'all. Stephanie kicked my butt. And it was great:

I've never been so happy to have been defeated. Luckily I died behind that rock and I had a rez. I rested up and went back in and did what the villainous Blood Shovel had to do.

And holy smokes! It awarded the wedding ring!screenshot_240227-22-04-58.thumb.jpg.c617bc0d7355f3c8d4d359a2dcd4a1b8.jpg

I just want to say thanks to whoever wrote these missions. It was really clear to me that you care about the history and story of this game and Striga Isle as much as I do. Thanks so much and I'm so glad that I'm playing this in 2024.

  7. Here's what I'm immediately doing:

    1. Adding a Clockwork winder to my main toon's costume. My main, Unclocked, is Clockwork themed and although the Clockwork Aether costumes have been a nice addition, I am very excited to finally get the winder on my original costume.

    2. I have a Dark Melee/Rad Scrapper, Undead Sister Psyche, that I have played to 50 but haven't trained past 43 because I am waiting on the Psionic Mastery epic power pool. I had assumed that Issue 27 Page 7 would be out by the time I got to the epic power pools, but I had so much fun playing this toon I couldn't stop myself from getting to 50. Really excited to get the Psionic set so I'm going to train to 50, spend a lot of influence, and then give it a spin.

    3. I have a lvl 20 Villain ready to run the new Striga content. Very excited as Striga is one of my favorite zones.

  8. PUG Life: 13 Hesses

Ernesto Hess is my favorite TF so I always go hard after it when it's the WST. I ran it 24 times this week (each time with a different toon), 11 solo and 13 with PUGs I led. Every single PUG went super smooth. I was super impressed that all 13 PUGs went up the catwalks and fought Burkholder the way he was meant to be fought - on top of the giant death robot. I loved that many of my PUG teammates had Team Teleport and could facilitate bouncing around the Striga radar towers quickly. I was very pleased that except for 1 or 2 times, every single PUG waited until every team member was in the mission before completing the four quick radar tower missions (gotta get that prismatic aether mission complete roll for everyone!).

  9. Big Country

Come and listen to my story about a man named Jed

A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,

And then one day he was working on the farm,

And an alien bomb hit and did his family harm.

    Rikti that is, monkeys, Infantry.

Well the first thing you know ole Jed's really mad,

The kinfolk said "You gotta get em lad!"

Said "Don’t worry bout us we’ll carry on"

So Jed loaded up the truck and moved to Paragon

City, that is. Hazard Zones, Archvillains.

Pretty much every contact blue and red side are snitching on a gang or faction in one way or another.  There is some of this in Praetoria too... You can throw a dart at the contacts list and will hit many.

It's pretty much how the story content is shaped.... we talk to a contact, and they send us to deal with/investigate whatever faction they're interested in.  So, pretty much every contact would have an enemy group wanting revenge.

What I'm looking for specifically are contacts who have infiltrated the enemy group or who were a part of the enemy group and developed morals or something. So Julius is a Troll, but now he wants to save the trees or something so he has turned on the other trolls. Hess is a member of the Council who decided they have gone too far. Angus and Flux were undercover agents who infiltrated the Outcasts and Lost respectively. And Akarist is the first Circle of Thorns Oranbega to betray the group.

  11. More Laura Lockhart thoughts!

    Spoiler

If I were running things I would have an Evil Leaper, er Evil Mender, give out a mission to villains to stop a hero from using Ouroboros to save Laura. Instead of putting things right that once went wrong, we'd be putting things wrong that were once made right. I'd probably have the heroes be the Shining Stars.

  12. If you are going to primarily solo stuff, you will have plenty of influence if you just follow these steps:

1.) Do content like story arcs that provide reward merits

2.) Go to a merit vendor and use those reward merits to buy enhancement converters

3.) Sell the enhancement converters on the auction house. Right now you can get about 70K per converter without much of a wait.

This is the simplest way to make enough money to fund your toon all the way to 50.

With that said, for soloing I think Brutes and Scrappers are the best bet based on your criteria, with brutes having a smoother go in the early levels and scrappers outperforming brutes later on.

  13. So I was running Flux's missions for approximately 168th time and for some reason I started thinking about what would happen to ole Flux if the Outcasts figured out he was an undercover cop. And then I started to think about all of the snitches that populate the City of Heroes universe and how there should be a villain story arc where you get paid to deliver some stitches. So I'm going to get started on that in AE, but in the meantime in between time who are the biggest snitches in the game that, from a bad guy perspective, need some stitches? Here are some candidates:

    Flux

    Julius the Troll

    Akarist

    Ernesto Hess

    Angus McQueen

  14. Fun Topic!

Agree 1000% that Laura Lockhart is the best use of Ouroboros and I wish there were more opportunities like this.

Most realistic time travel movie: Primer. So fascinating and confusing!

Best time travel novel: Replay by Ken Grimwood.

I have a concept I've been running in CoX similar to the time travel that occurs in Replay. Started with a Rad/BS tank named Atom Slicer. When he dinged 50, he found himself standing in front of Ms. Liberty, back at level one, but this time his radiation powers manifested as a Blaster. Once Atom Gunner hit 50, he once again found himself standing in front of Ms. Liberty, back at level one, this time as a Staff/Rad Brute. This irritated Atom Fury so he became a vigilante and then a villain. Once Atom Fury dinged 50, he was once again level one, but this time he found himself standing in front of Kalinda in Mercy. Atom Specter is a Illusion/Rad controller. I'm just going to keep going until I play all the rad powersets across the ATs. The costume stays the same and the name will always start with Atom.
