     Travel Power Stacking

    • Almost all travel powers are no longer mutually exclusive and can be activated at the same time, but only the strongest buff of each type (run speed, jump speed, jump height, fly speed) will apply
      • This ensures that every power you pick or activate will only ever improve your mobility
    • Examples:
      • SuperSpeed_SuperSpeed.png.c7b0740d9fa4bdf6622415eef245128d.png Super Speed + Inherent_NinjaRun.png.1e5da8a40f3a6968a733d32dd0ddbcad.png Ninja Run
        • Previously: These powers couldn't be used together - if you turned on Super Speed, you lost the jump buff from Ninja Run
        • Now: You'll gain the run speed bonus of Super Speed and the jump bonus of Ninja Run (along with the cool pose!)
      • ForceofWill_MightyLeap.png.68958a297bf392684d4f96375d0e0a27.png Mighty Leap + Inherent_BeastRun.png.3145e09edb391b7a7a018386b1fc0b3b.png Beast Run
        • Previously: These powers couldn't be used together - if you turned on Mighty Leap, you lost the run speed buff from Beast Run
        • Now: You'll gain the jump bonus of Mighty Leap and the run speed bonus of Beast Run (along with the cool pose!)
      • Jump_LongJump.png.965618363ac8f16e7cc32209f5ee6b1c.png Super Jump + jump_combatjump.png.4a6f49a8ce8b92f13594c0c742cf3ffd.png Combat Jumping
        • Previously: These powers couldn't be used together - you had to choose between Super Jump's speed and Combat Jumping's defensive buff
        • Now: You'll gain the jump bonus of Super Jump along with the defensive buffs of Combat Jumping
      • Flight_TravelFlight.png.74244b2f884386eb35f8ac9428278017.png Fly + flight_combatflight.png.c5103d219b0511d0703390a1030c9f32.png Hover
        • Previously: These powers couldn't be used together - you had to choose between Fly's speed and Hover's defensive buff
        • Now: You'll gain the fly speed of Fly, along with the air control and defensive bonus of Hover
    • Some exceptions:
      • Prestige Run powers (Ninja Run, Beast Run, Athletic Run) are still mutually exclusive with each other
      • Temporary jetpacks are still mutually exclusive with each other
      • Sprint powers still stack with other run speed buffs and are still mutually exclusive with each other
    • Click buffs (eg: Inertial Reduction), external buffs (eg: Speed Boost), and auto powers (eg: Swift) still stack as they did before

    Prestige & Temporary Powers

    • Inherent_NinjaRun.png.1e5da8a40f3a6968a733d32dd0ddbcad.png Ninja Run + Inherent_BeastRun.png.3145e09edb391b7a7a018386b1fc0b3b.png Beast Run +  Inherent_AthleticRun.png.21dd485cd3d8e51152ae33a4c1a86489.png Athletic Run + temporary_mayhem_selfflight.png.4b3bb802b2c42437cbbb12a087fe9131.png Temporary Jetpacks
      • All travel speeds remain unchanged
      • Normalized endurance costs to 0.57/s (slightly higher than Fly at 0.46/s)
        • These weren't consistent before - most were lower, some were higher
        • The PvP jetpack has not been modified and still has a 2.0/s endurance cost
      • These powers no longer benefit from global endurance discounts

Super Leap and Combat Jumping are currently mutually exclusive not just with each other, but also the Prestige Run powers. Not a big thing, but it is annoying to have to toggle Combat Jumping and a Prestige Run between fights.

Since it wasn't explicitly mentioned in the post... Will those be stackable now as well, or will they remain exclusive?

Single click a power to place or remove it from a build. If a power’s name appears in red italics, it has been placed in an illegal position. The most common reason is placing a pool power without meeting the prerequisites or picking more than one origin pool (Experimentation, Force of Will, or Sorcery).

Is there another way to remove a power from a build? This ^^^ doesn't work for me.

Make sure the path is actually ..\<game folder>\data\texture_library\MAPS\static and that the date and time of the file is 6/11/2019 6:12:25 PM.

I'm starting to wonder if there's something common among some peoples' installations that I'm not able to see or diagnose with this map. I can load it just fine while running Windows 7 and the new 64-bit client. If there's some consistency with the people who are still having problems with it, I'll try re-generating it with a different conversion method.

I realize this is an old thread, but I'm stuck on installing MORE MAPS 4 U. 😞

I get that duplicating folders is bad. Do I replace the I23 files with the MM4U files? Do I replace the 'city' folder? At what level in the file path do things get replaced?

Sorry, I'm just used to using an install wizard...

Because, as mentioned by myself and others, this game doesn't require, need, or desire dedicated healers, not even on MSR's. You should be doing more than heal and waiting for green bars to move.

Method and context of message delivery is also important.

Here, I'm asking for information and advice. There, I was getting insults and unsolicited opinions and "suggestions." Being told I *have* to do something by complete strangers with no apparent authority only convinces me to dig in my heels and not do whatever it is they say I have to do.

Oof.  That might be a large part of the problem.

Well, all the hate I was getting was from people who hadn't even seen my build--general/lfg/help chat. They were hating the mere concept of a dedicated healer.

How many powers from Illusion did you take? There used to be a "trend" of players playing "dedicated support"; the most extreme version of this was Emp Defs with just their T1 attack full Leadership and, for reasons passing understanding, Medicine pools. While I personally find unsolicited negative criticism tedious and pointless, those builds did indeed deserve to die in a fire.

4 + Fire Blast from Fire Mastery

I admit to taking Aid Self from the Medicine pool so I could get another rez and the Field Medic buff for MSRs. 😆

I remembered dedicated support from live, but I don't remember any of the dislike for it.

@Sir MyshkinThank you for taking the time to type all that out. That's actually helpful information and advice--unlike the haters in game who were just shitting on me.

The character's backstory is built around an artifact passed down through generations of a family, absorbing power and sentience from its owners. Hence, empathy and phantoms. I might could get ill/pain to work but the toon is already lvl 50 with all incarnates unlocked. Not excited about having to do all that again... I really wish we could either switch powersets when respeccing or transfer xp to alts. *whines*

  8. I built an illusion/empathy dedicated healer recently. I've been getting a lot of flack for it from randos in Paragon City, and I just don't understand it.

Criticisms mainly focus on its lack of dps and how other powersets (e.g.: warmth) are more useful. It's a dedicated healer--it has some attacks, but that's not where the focus is. The purpose of a dedicated healer is to keep the rest of the team alive and kicking (or punching or blasting). I purposely chose controller over defender for the Phantom Army and Phantasm powers. And as for empathy vs. warmth, empathy was a better fit for the character's backstory. I've never been a stats-driven player; I'm more about the character and their story.

IMHO, if you don't want to make a dedicated healer, don't make one. If you don't want a dedicated healer on your team, don't invite one. Don't rag on other players' choices that don't affect you. That simply makes sense to me.

I've mostly just been blocking/ignoring the people giving me grief, but they do have me wondering--Am I actually overlooking something? Or do they and I simply have different playstyles?

  9.  Mack has been owned by the Mackintosh clan for as long as it can remember, absorbing personality and power from each of its owners. Eventually, the clan resettled in North America in one of the early colonies, and Mack continued to protect the clan leader in this new land.

Although it never shirked its duties, Mack only revealed itself to those it deemed worthy. Mack's last owner was one of these.

A bright young student at Paragon U trying to decide between a life of science or heroics. She went out with friends one night and left Mack at home. Mack learned of her fate a few days later when some of her friends came to clean out her apartment. She had been killed while attempting to protect another young woman from attackers in an alley behind a bar.

Mack decided to to honor her legacy by protecting the people of the city she loved. And maybe find a new clan to serve.

((Mack is only a cloak. If interacting with Mack, ignore the "body".))

  10. I have this character, Mackintosh, who's a sentient cloak--think MCU Dr. Strange's cape or Carpet from Aladdin. The body/mannequin is there only because the character creator forced me to have one. To keep this short, I'll put Mack's bio in a reply.

One of the RP hurdles is that Mack can't speak. Mack is weakly telepathic and can "hear" that way, but it can't really have a conversation. I've mostly been talking OOC, or using thoughts to describe physical actions.

    1) Anyone have a non-speaking toon and have tips to share?

    2) How would I craft some macros/keybinds for common actions? "Mackintosh flies up to $target and swirls around them in greeting"

    3) Would the example in #2 violate the no-touching rule of RP etiquette?

  11. The Stealth and Invisibility powers of the Concealment pool state that using attack powers will cause you to be discovered. But what about non-attack powers like heals?

I'm thinking of picking them up for my Empath. Would I stay stealthed if I was on a team and all I did was heal?

Gimme an insects pet set please I want to order my giant stag beetle into battle.

I'd like to see themed beast sets based on clade (Mammals, Arthropoda, Reptilia, etc.) or biome (forest, desert, jungle, etc.). Or a range of beasts you could select from. Like, I'd rather have bears than lions.

  13. My concern is that if you want to actually put this into practice, the game mechanics and maps wouldn't allow it. Mainly LoS and aggro issues. Maybe if you built your own mission in AE...

I've done something similar when more experienced players will brief less experienced players before entering a mish, but once inside, gameplay basically consists of not splitting up and shooting anything that moves (and some stuff that doesn't).

Great Idea! Try to color the power to fit what you would think is wind, and go from there. Maybe make some emotes so people know you are using wind and not gravity.

And maybe an OOC note in your bio.

You could certainly do something IC in your bio as well, but something explicit and OOC might be more noticeable.

  15. I just saw some stuff about pet costumes on Thunderspy and was wondering if there was a way to customize the look of pets on Homecoming.

My forum searches and other internet searches not returned any relevant results--not sure if that indicates there isn't a way to customize pets, or if I just gave up before finding it.

  16. I'm all about character design and went with Beasts/Nature for Nature Bro. I have no clue how powerful/efficient is compared to other builds, and I don't really care. I like it, and that's all that matters.

  17. Is there a thread I'm not finding with a guide/tips on RPing in the game?

I'm having a rough time getting into character and keeping my Texanisms from slipping into my in-game dialogue. I'd appreciate advice and guidance.
