This character is the result of a lot of tinkering over time, so I didn't track costs, but it's a lot. I'm using very few sets that even run under 4-5mil/piece. You're probably talking close to a billion inf ballpark, maybe less.

You can shave the costs down a whole bunch by dropping Winters and purples in favor of more Mako's Bites, Touch of Deaths, and the like. That'll still get you a very good build that'll sit around 51% defenses with hide up, with better resists and health. I was running something like that for a long time and it was very very serviceable. And then you can work on Winters as you can afford it.

By the way, what's the point of Mystic Flight? I've seen a few different stalker builds with it in there, but I'm not sure why a stalker needs to fly

  2. I've decided to shelve my NB stalker and remake him as a scrapper (I want my AOE). I started playing around with Stj yesterday, and really fell in love with it. I've looked around, and can't find a really good build for it though. Is it possible to achieve softcapped defenses (incarnated included), solid end management, and permanent hasten in one build? If anyone has a build that achieves this, I would be ever so grateful.

I've tanked all the aforementioned on my invuln and been just fine. Capped defense and resistances to all, plus dull pain, makes you basically unkillable.

if you wouldn't mind sharing this build, I would enjoy looking it over.

Yeah I have a feeling they don’t want to risk EA on tanks. Soft cap defense to every type but Psionic. Capped resists to every type but Psionic. High recharge. All within possibility on tanks. I don’t think an EA tank could die even if it wanted to.

Do you have a build that accomplishes this?

Take a look in your other thread “need help with ninja blade”. I posted my ninja blade / ea build there.

You can work it a little to pick up AoE powers from patron pools if you want. I do not feel any desire to pick up additional AoE on it and like it just fine as is. Still kills mobs plenty fast.

    Thank you.

Do you remember what you soent on that build?

This might be a crazy idea, but I thought of picking up TP Foe to thin out mobs before I have to rush in on them.

What secondary are you going to use? I have one for energy aura secondary.

Also, just general advice for picking powersets. While it definitely can be useful to gather opinions from others, don’t let those opinions force you into one set or away from another. Your own curiosity is a powerful force. You seem to really want to try ninja blade. You are going to be unsatisfied until you try it. Even if you try several other amazing combinations you will always have that ninja blade itch. Only way to find out if you will love it is to try it.

Good thing is that it is easy to level, rename, have a ton of character slots, and you can respec to move IOs around.

    I was thinking either:

SR for a natural theme and crazy fast recharge

Elec for the same tech and a resistance base to build defenses from

EA because everything I read says it's crazy good.

Positrons Blast and Bombardment procs would be preferred for their exotic damage types (energy and fire). There's also Javelin's Volley and Impeded Swifteness (lethal and smashing). Annihilation for the -res debuff and Ragnarok/Overwhelming Force to KD targets so they lay in the caltrops for a longer period of time. I imagine they all have an equal chance to activate.

If it works like a proc bomb, I would slot them all except for Ragnarok.

I just might have to give that a whirl.

  8. I wanted to make a super ninja for my stalker, but I've had a couple of people tell me I shouldn't bother because the minimal AOE would mean he wouldn't be much good solo (which is when I'd likely play him the most).

    What say you stalker faithful?

    Hi 11Troy11,

    1. Nope, no minimum level. The only requirement is that you're a Tanker.

    2. All Tanker power sets are welcome, any combo you want to run.

    3. I believe you can make 5 transfer per month (?). Please don't quote me on this. Feel free to transfer to any events you want. Or, if you wish, you can roll a Tank on each server we're on. There is a TankHQ (our super group) on every server. Just let us know you need an invite to the group and one of us will send an invite.

    4. Welcome to the event, hope to see you tomorrow!

    What time does it start?

Also, does anyone have a build for an Elec/Staff tank that's doable but relatively cheap? I'm ambitious bit limited biludget-wise.

  10. The title pretty much sums it up.

I was thinking staff/elec to combine staff's defense with alec's resistance, but I'm told that Storm kick might do a better job of that. Then again, staff has better air, and (I'd I understand the buffs tank got recently) tanks are uniquely situated to take advantage of that.

Needless to say I'm a bit torn, and would appreciate any/all opinions.

  11. I would be new to TT, so if you guys don't mind, I have a few questions:

    1. Is there a minimum level each toon should be at?

    2. Are there any combos that shouldn't be considered?

    3. Is there a limited number of server transfers available to each person? *in other words, can you make one tank and just take him to each server?*

    Thanks.

69% for perma single stack (when factoring in arcanatime).

    200/(120 - 1.716) = 1.6908  (+69%)

5 LOTG's would give 37.5. SR's +Rech is 20 more, and hasten gives 70. If I understand you correctly, that's more than enough.

With IO slotting and only 3 toggles SR doesn't seem to End heavy.  Sure no End management tools directly, but that's not the point of SR.  Once your global recharge is high enough to keep Practiced Brawler perma, slot it with and End Reduction.

If you want Def sets on Scrapper with End management, consider Ice Armor or Energy Armor.  Less DDR than SR, but other tools.

How much Rech would I need for that?

StJ/Bio armor is one of the most damaging combinations both in real game play and pylon testing. It hits like a truck.

Highly recommend it, there's an endgame where you can softcap S/L/E/N/F/C/M and cap S/L resist with barrier T4 and have IH-level regeneration with the Sandman's proc in the sleep aura (which also gives you significant damage boosts due to Stalker crits on sleeping targets!) while also yourself having great regen.

It also gives two decent AOEs that while it may not be Burn, will certainly give you a decent mileage against a pack of foes.

You wouldn't have said build handy by chance would you?

  15. The title basically says it all.

I want to squeeze in as much +Rech as I can while still softcapping defenses and (hopefully) managing End successfully. I don't have the talent with builds some of you have, so I'd appreciate all the help I can get.

Electric melee on Stalkers is the best version of electric melee.

For other ATs, electric is a set notorious for its awesome AoE and bad single target damage, with a complete dud in Lightning Clap.  For Stalkers, you drop Clap for AS and get a set with very good (but not amazing) single target damage and probably the best AoE available to a Stalker.

For secondaries, they're all pretty solid on Stalkers, minus Regen.  Shield gives you more AoE damage, which Stalkers can always use, and a damage buff.  Bio for more damage.  Rad for more AoE.  A well built Invuln can be defense soft capped to all but Psi and resist capped to S/L, with ~50% resist to everything else.  Some sets like Invuln and SR are special in that when Hide was ported to the set, it didnt replace a different power, but instead two other powers got combined to make room, making Stalkers more power efficient than other melee sets.

That's all VERY solid info. Thank you!

Elec has been at the top of my list lately. What you have to say about Inv is VERY interesting. Ca. The same be said for the Elec secondary? I admit, I like the idea of having +Rech and +End tools

I like StJ paired with SR. SR can be softcap easily while also slotting for recharge (Quickness, Red Fortune, LotG +7.5%). It leaves a lot of room to slot attacks for damage. No need to chase IO set bonuses to softcap defense. No need to slot a lot of recharge to run an optimal attack chain. It's possible make a very playable build with a passive +60% damage bonus. Here's a 90 second pylon run. Probably around 550 dps.

I've never paired StJ with ElA or WP, but played them with various primaries back on live. I liked Electric Armor more since I can't seem to make a decent WP build unless it's with NB or BS.

How do you manage end on SR?

I like Staff better on a Stalker. You don't have to think about switching stances, or worry about building charges ( unless you want to build charges.)
It has a cone in Guarded and an AOE. There is a ranged strike. You get a bit of everything.

    Homefront.jpg

    First of all...nice look!

Secondly, I know resistance-based sets are somewhat frowned upon for stalkers, but (from what I understand anyway), staff is a defense- based primary, so perhaps something like elec would be a nice compliment?

Lastly, do you have any issues with damage considering how much smashing is supposed to be resisted?
