  1. Thank you for your informative answer but I've already decided to go for Seraphim's teleporting corpse strat.
  2. Hello all, I'm back after a long time away and I could use some opinions on this build. My last 50 was, I think, years before live shut down. I had just started trying to get the good enhancements and set bonuses before I quit that time. So it's a system I don't really understand well. Now that I'm 50 it's clear I need a respec but not understanding how to gear is making it hard to understand what powers I should select. I've done some research on this build but most posts just lead me back to an old forum post that made me want to ask more questions. May I have your opinions on the following? Crush - Why does everybody pick this power? I have crushing field and it's available to use again prior to me needing to cast it so I'm not sure why I'd want the single target version of it, it's gotta be a set bonus thing right? AoE control - So about this power in my secondary, EM Pulse, apparently it's known as one of the best control powers. It has a high mag and minus regen. But...it also drains the caster of all endurance and has a 5 minute recharge does it not? Seems like it'd be a huge p.i.t.a to use. Maybe a bit more usable with Mu mastery and power sync but I don't intend to use this mastery. Seems maybe better for a Defender or Corrupter that wouldn't otherwise have access to a good AoE control. Shouldn't I just use Gravity Distortion Field? If you think EM Pulse is worth it, please let me know why. Death Powers - Besides trying to work Mutation in my build as it's kind of a staple for support who have access to such a power to pick it, I usually shy away from powers that require someone to die first. I read on a forum post that it's a common tactic for someone to sacrifice themselves to gain access to vengeance. Is that real? I never once saw that in live. I returned to the fan made server years ago and then just now recently and all I've seen since then is people absolutely creaming their way through content, is it really necessary to have Vengeance when enemies just evaporate in combat? I'm trying to decide between this power and earths embrace. I may pick vengeance anyway cause doesn't it seem like earths embrace is a little futile? Give a controller more HP so they can die in 3 hits instead of 2? If I pick up crush I won't have room for either of them as I don't see myself sacrificing my other power selections. Thank you in advance for your input.

  4. I have been playing Sims 3 for two years now but since returning to CoH I haven't really wanted to do much else but try to get a character to level 50. If I could only just focus on one toon.
  5. I got some good feedback and it looks like I have a lot of research to do on the crafted enhancement sets. They didn't have these when I was playing my defender. It's true that when I played people didn't take these powers much. I tried them and I was usually the only person in the group that had them. Didn't seem like we face rolled across the content any faster but it made my experience more stressful because it caused an endurance problem.
  6. @Frosticus Thank you, your post was really informative. Pretty much answers why I see it everywhere. @Doomguide2005 and thank you for following up with more detail. @Justaris I did usually avoid powers that required someone to die and I'll probably try to do that again this time around. Will probably get combat jumping instead. That may depend on how often I find myself in groups where people are dying. I dunno, hopefully not a lot. Thank you for your input. @LiquidBandage Whatever.
  7. Hello Everyone, I'm back to City of Heroes after not playing for a very long time, like years before it shut down even. There's a lot of things I still don't understand since coming back and I was hoping you could help. So, I'm playing a defender and have been looking around for builds. One thing I noticed is that all of the builds I'm finding include the leadership power tree. Back in the day, I always remembered these as being a huge endurance suck with disappointing returns. Maneuvers and Tactics were not needed by most level 50 teams and Assault was a nice bonus if you had the end but not necessary. It really seemed like not a lot of builds included the powers when I was playing last. Do people take them to use special sets and gain access to procs? Cause that's something I don't really understand yet, I'm not sure which sets I'll be using. If so, can that be achieved with other powers? I really hate these powers is what I'm getting at but I will use them if it means making an effective level 50 defender. TLDR: I don't understand why people take the leadership powers so I don't know if I should include them in my build.
