I remember when they first added wings there were so many "Angle" characters.

Yeah I remember that being a running joke in the official forums. Something like "Angle of Satin" with a backstory about getting superpowers from cutting their costume pieces in specific ways.

  2. I still have Champions installed.  For the most part I just goof around in the character designer.  Might fly around a bit and enjoy the scenery, monster island and the underwater zone are neat.

  3. Back in the days of redraw, I setup a bane as a team oriented two-stage fighter.

I'd start with gun AoEs.  Venom Grenade to apply the debuff, then the cone.  Perhaps the other grenade if I felt more AoE was needed, but usually by then the team had blasted things down to just the bosses and possibly a few crippled lieutenants.  Next switch to the mace for the finishing blows and to bring down the tougher enemies.

So in each fight I'd only cause redraw one time, switching from gun to mace.  These days I still use this fighting style because I like how it flows.

  4. For reasons discussed here, I have my power tray at the top of the screen.  This has an interesting side effect with the new travel power popup tray:

(as an example) When I turn on SuperSpeed, the popup tray with Speed Phase pops up.  Since this would put the popup tray off the top of the screen, it instead pushes the entire power tray down to make space.  Now when I turn SuperSpeed off, sometimes the power tray shifts back up to its original position (top of the screen), sometimes it stays in the new pushed down position (slightly lower than top of screen).  I can do some additional testing if requested, to see if I can figure out what causes the tray to move back up vs staying down.

Note that this also happens on missions that have temp powers that create the popup tray.  Since these are relatively uncommon though, I never really thought about it until now where it happens every time I use a travel power.

What I'm wondering is if there could be an OPTION (all caps because some people tend to not understand what the word "option" means) these extra powers be placed as regular powers, without the popup tray.  Similar to how Kheldian shapeshifting used to be back on live, where the unavailable powers were just grayed out.  I would rather not have any popup trays from travel powers if possible.

In any case this is probably a lower priority as there's a simple fix to not having my trays pushed around: just move them down a bit.

  5. There's one thing I'm curious about Assault Rifle, well, ranged cones in general which Assault Rifle has a lot of: Why do ranged cones have 10 max targets, while ranged AoEs have 16?

For example, Buckshot, Flamethrower, and Full Auto cap at 10 targets.  But M30 Grenade can hit 16.  I'm using in-game descriptions, but I recall them always being this way.  This seems to be the case with cones in other blast sets as well (with some exceptions from more specialized powers like Piercing Rounds).

Was there ever a reason given for this back in the day?

  6. Vanguard Security Officer: "No further without proper clearance. Let's see some ID."

Meanwhile, every hero on the way to the RWZ raid just breezes right by him without so much as slowing down. He politely stares and smiles, while keeping his inner rage suppressed.  He's a future supervillain in the making.

To quell this future threat before it takes root, I propose we all bring him cookies and show him phone pictures of our cats before heading off to the next raid.

  7. Melee / Support is a big one.

Mastermind Primary / Attacks. Battle with the Boys!  With a secondary full of attacks, could also replace the Mastermind attacks in the primary with some kind of leadership ala Arachnos Soldiers.

Pistol as a pool, for characters that carry a sidearm in addition to their other skills.  Similar to how we have fighting pool if I want some punches on the side.

Fire Breath should also be noted is utility aoe damage, and sometimes skipping it entirely in a mob rotation can sometimes be best if your team already has high aoe damage and you should therefore be prioritizing Blaze/Blazing Bolt spam to take out the bosses faster.

Aye, I've been on those teams, and adjusted my playstyle as needed.  Glorious days!

With that said the power hits like a truck, as long as you're good at lining up the cone and/or jousting with the power, which is very easy to do.

Yes that's definitely the way to play.  Ranged attacks, melee attacks, AoEs, cones, whatever, they're all are the same once you master jousting.

Fire Ball>Fire Breath is a great AoE opener for whenever your Nuke is on cooldown

My preference is Fire Breath and then Fireball, in that order only.  Due to fire breath having a delay before the damage ticks start, this concentrates the damage into a smaller timeframe which I prefer.

  10. No need to live in melee.  Use the old joust technique: jump into the group while a ranged attack animates, jump out of the group while a melee attack animates.  Once you get used to it, combining ranged and melee is pretty seamless and you only spend a tiny amount of time in melee range.  My blasters almost never attack while standing still.
