Master of Dr. Quaterfield if you do it without any travel powers.  Just using sprint/athletic run/etc and the Geysers.  Not even a temp flight or jump pack.  Call it "The Long Way Round".

The term would be "Spaghettified" when talking about the original code. IDK how much they've "DeSpaghettified" it since then, but yeah, any change of that nature would be real 'fun' from a coding standpoint. Even back on live I recall them saying it was horrible. IDK if it's people not commenting their code, optimizing properly, or what. I guess it all depends on the culture of the original team.

I had heard that term before, but it didn't come to mind. I'm not a coder per se, but I am interested in it on a pedestrian level and I'd be curious to see what improvements have been made in that arena

the masks for carnival stuff are only available on the female character model.

some of them are quite fancy, and would work on the others.

In cases like this, as with many of the other costume pieces, I don't think it could be a matter of having to remap it to a different frame, as the differences between them, especially in terms of a head or face, is pretty non-existent

    I wish.

    Gods how I wish.

My lady magi are *still* waiting, literal years after the pieces were added for the male model, to get the rest of the Oranbegan bits ported over to the female side of the CC... The horned gloves, the Death Mage back spikes and more elaborate kilt, the shoulder piece with the little capelet... I've long since lost any real hope of getting them, but I still bring it up about once a year. I figure a reminder that at least one person still wants them can't hurt.

I just want skirts! Well, and a number of other items, but skirts!

In this case, it is less a question of the game code, and more of taking existing models and texture maps, and adapting them to a different scale and model. Still a whole lot of work, especially for the texture maps, but not the problem of broken code.

Again, I can't imagine the amount of work it would take to accomplish this. I am sure SilverAgeFan, over on rebirth, would have a bit to say about this

I imagine that this would be included in any CC overhaul for sure. As it stands though, the game is coded: Male, Female, & Huge, but it wouldn't take Too much (for one with the talent / tools) to take some of what's in one group and copy it to the other with the appropriate modifications.

I have heard that the game code is horribly antiquated, so i cannot imagine how difficult this would be

More costume items for the different characters? I'm for it. However, I don't know if you know this or if you have a different (or maybe even better) method of making an androgynous character, but a trick I learned was to take the female model and minimize the chest. (I used this to make an ice elemental character back on Live before the devs introduced the surgeons which let players use different character models on the same character.) Makes for an excellent base for an androgynous character. (Especially since it seems females get more access to costume items. I don't know if they do, it just seems that way to me.)

Oh trust me I know all about that. I usually push the shoulders out a fair amount as well as reducing the hips and increasing the waist diameter

I guess tell them it is a double standard society is still working through like female anatomy is bleeped out but male anatomy isn't in the game? (I got curious, logged on to the game, and tried several words. Sex, heterosexual, homosexual, queer, and various body parts to test.)

Edit: I should probably also state that out of my test words, the words sex, heterosexual, and homosexual all got by without being filtered. (Edit again: As did the words transexual, pansexual, and asexual. As well as gay and lesbian. All perfectly fine by the filter. So looks like only queer is filtered.)

That really speaks to me, like I had initially presumed, that this was an original filter list left over from OG days. Nobody had really considered or thought about it until this curmudgeon here noticed it and decided to point it out.

I was so not intending for this to blow up as such.

To expand on the filter issue. As a PG13 game it's assumed that people of that age and above are kind of used to a lot of the words in the filter and have been exposed to them at some point. People younger than that perhaps not. This is one of those games that really does appeal to a younger demographic and youngsters either want to play (which is wrong and we don't allow it and shhhh don't tell dad) or watch while their parents play. For parents it's an option they can turn on as certain words and concepts may arise that they don't want to have to explain to their little ones just yet. I still squirm in embarrassment on behalf of my parents for the times I asked them what certain words meant when I heard them 🙂

I get all that, but this strays a bit from how "queer", in this context, is seen as a bad or "issue" word. Heck - LGBTQ? In an age where some folk are pushing to ban books, due to containing queer themes, you can see where it might just propagate it being "bad".  This is something I am just going to have to let go of and it will not diminish my experience in the game and with the community. I guess it's just leaving me a bit disappointed in the state of things.

I am fully aware of this being a safe space - who am I to threaten anyone's cozy place in it? *grumble grumble*

This gaming community is much more accepting of practically anything when compared to many gaming communities (and real life communities when it comes down to reality).

And this is why I am so invested in it and will always come back.

As a gay man of the older generation queer was always used as a slur and an insult so it still sits uncomfortably when I see it even when it's not used in a negative way. Words evolve and things that were bad once are now acceptable, and words that were acceptable are now bad. And that's a me problem, not the problem of those people who took a negative word and made it a positive.

A word that I've used all my life is gypsy. My family is of gypsy stock and still refers to the older generation with that term. My grandmother was the last to really identify as a gypsy and she told me several times she was a gypsy and proud of it, and to be proud of my heritage and never be ashamed of it. If you tried calling her anything else she would get really angry. She wasn't romani, she wasn't a traveller, she wasn't any of a dozen names people used, she was a gypsy. She had lost family members to the gas chambers and celebrated and mourned them.

Now of course it's a racial slur, never mind that the people of that heritage outside the US actively use the word and are fiercely proud of it. I'm proud of it. I know my heritage and loved my grandmother with all my heart. The struggles she went through and the stories she told are treasures beyond price.

But back to the topic at hand, that's why we have a profanity filter. For those who aren't offended by words it can be turned off. For those who find it offensive or have smaller children who love to watch it keeps the naughty words a parent doesn't want to have to explain hidden.

Thanks for sharing that.  I was not expecting this level of response, but have been greatly appreciating the responses and thoughts. It has given me some fresh perspectives, which I always appreciate.
