It may be possible, but given how the zone phasing already fails, it may also be problematic.

It's... confusing, sometimes. I did all the post-i21 arcs in Atlas Park already and saw all the "intruding" elements - Skulls in the south, Vahzilok in the north, Arachnos with their Rikti Pylon-ridden base in the west - phased out properly. Mercy Island, on the other hand... sure, the one building I was supposed to blow up is indeed on fire now when it didn't use to be and all the Fort Darwin setpieces have changed properly, but on the other hand, the various arc-linked overworld spawns - like the Longbow Communications Experts and Technicians or that Legacy Chain site with their magic circles - are still there, even though it doesn't make much sense.

I wonder how complex it would be to at least fix that, to say nothing of the Schrödinger's Overworld idea that's been proposed here. In fact, the latter might not even be possible because there'd need to be two of each starter contact with different available mission door pools. Altough, I think Matthew Burke in particular could benefit from being shifted back because then he'd no longer force the player into the same Snake pit for all his missions... while the Kuzmin-Firewire/Weber-Harris chain would just be completely screwed over due to the whole plot of pushing Longbow back from the island, especially from the fort they took over.

  2. On this note, I don't think I'm the only one who gets annoyed by the police scanner/newspaper arbitrarily declaring you don't care about events in any zone you outleveled. I really wish these generic mission pools went all the way up to 50, so that players who've done all the content wouldn't have to sit in Peregrine Island forever.

    yup, welcome to the club.

for now oro is your friend

its a bit lonely and problematic

but you can experience most of the lore there

The most problematic part of Ouroboros, to me, is the complex physics pertaining to Schrödinger's arc completion flags. If you do an entire arc via flashback, you'll receive the reward, get a completion star and see some changes to the overworld if phasing is involved... but the contact's relationship level won't be saved, they won't be moved to inactive, and they'll respond to you with their "not introduced" dialogue instead of the "no more missions" one. It's as if I have simultaneously done and not done the arc, which is an extreme pet peeve of mine.

  4. Uh... How does that relate? I know goldside has a nice (if repetitive) high-tech lab tileset, a genuinely snazzy palette swap of the office tileset and a rather boring underground tunnels tileset, all of which are typically keyed to doors which make sense, but that doesn't help blueside and redside much.

  5. I know the Dollface mansion map is reused in one of Trilogy's missions, just without the big portrait and with a different final room. Then there's Manticore's mansion seen in the Twinshot arcs, which uses similar assets but in much better condition. Both of these maps are just so nice that I wish we had generic "Mansion" and "Abandoned Mansion" maps using their tilesets.

  6. That one's not a bug. The Roman helmet is still there, just turned into a different skin for the Valkyrie helm because they use the same model with different textures. Same goes for the three Samurai helmets and the two versions of the Warrior helmets.

  7. Yeah... It's hard to have Kheldians and Arachnos operatives start in Praetoria if they just don't exist there (Khelds and Nictus never brought their war to Praetorian Earth, while Arachnos never rose to power there). Were these archetypes to actually get a chance to be there, they'd need some serious reflavoring.

My understanding on how The Things Work is that it's a matter of attachment points, not just setting a flag.  I'd guess the shouldery-cape thingies take up that back attachment point, so nothing else can be fit on there.

I happen to have access to the old Titan Icon client, and bizarrely enough, the Sybil dress is listed as a chest detail.

Unlike on HC, the dress actually works not only with back parts, but with non-Sybil belts as well. Really, the only problem is the necessity of using the linked colors option to color the front of the dress.

Then again, HC itself has a weird loophole in the attachment point system because it lets one use the waistcape version of the Tech Knight belt alongside a back option, or even an actual cape... provided you're not using a chest option from the Armored category, which I always found weird.

  9. I unironically wonder how difficult it would be to add an item section to the character creator, especially without breaking every single costume file already around. Just this last update, a lot of people have reported broken costumes they had to fix, and that's just from adding a couple new parts like the snakeskin mantles.

That said, I'm all for giving more love to the Monstrous Legs category because what we have right now is very lackluster.

  10. While this thread is still up, I want to join the question about a suitable grand finale... or more precisely, multiple grand finales, one for each of my characters. I have a heroic demon girl, a villainous cyborg ex-AV and a Praetorian slated to become a hero on Primal Earth. I'd want to provide a suitable ending to each of their stories, and I'd like to have a better idea of what my options are.

The easiest I think would be to just add (Villain) or (Rogue) after each of the contact names; Ex. Peter Themari (Villain) or Hardcase (Rogue); based on the nature of the missions they give. Particularly important is to include it when you’re given a choice of contacts.

Something like that would give casuals (those who don’t want to go research missions on the wiki to see what they call for) assurance that their criminal career will be limited to robberies or smacking down those who deserve it (and those who want to kick puppies will know which contacts to take as well).

Yeah... But there's another problem to the villain layer. There's plenty of ways to be a villain, and very few of them are about doing random assholish stuff purely because someone paid you to. I can't really name anyone who would indeed enjoy that, but well, such are the limitations of the contact system. The lack of agency, in my understanding, doesn't refer to being railroaded into evil or roguish acts the player may not be comfortable with so much as to the very fact player villains simply don't get to do much on their own without being explicitly told to, with the exception of newspaper missions, morality tips and a small number of arcs.

  12. Such statistics would only work if every player only got to have one character. But many of us have dozens, some even have hundreds... I suppose statistics should show the total blue-to-red-to-gold character ratio, or the amount of time each player spends playing some character of a given alignment.

    Unless there's something I don't know about.
