My current "after telenuke crit" is Ball Lightning which usually hits a solid majority of a spawn, WAY more than using TS coming out of LR. More often than not, BU (with Gaussians) > LR (with purple proc) > BL (with Posi's proc) will wipe out all minions in range. Therefore, I'm down to only Lts, bosses and minions that are at the fringes of the spawn after the alpha strike. From there, TS basically has no use, because the likelihood that two remaining targets are basically spooning in front of me is usually zero. So, therefore, I'm down to single targeting after the alpha and, as you said, TS is pretty crap there. You don't seem to run Fireball or BL, so I can see how TS would be your best followup, but for me, I'd rather hit about 8 targets with BL than 2-3 targets with TS. 12 DS total damage vs 9 DS total damage. I'd have to fiddle around a bit, but I'm considering replacing it with Mu Bolts, if only to grab 3.75% e/n defense, which my build is lacking a bit.

I've been running my Electric/Invuln Stalker at 50 for a bit now and I'm realizing that I'm not using Thunderstrike as much as I'd thought I would. The animation is just brutally long and the AoE is ridiculously small. Generously, I'm hitting 2 targets per activation, on average, and that's if the targets not dead from a teammate before I land the hit. Its DPA is pretty terrible and for single targets, I would be better off launching any two other attacks in my arsenal than TS. I have a ton of recharge bonuses so I don't need it to fill out my chain. So, fellow electric stalkers, am I wrong to think it might be worth dropping TS? I'm not fully decided on what I'd take instead, but I could grab Rune of Prot or an extra epic power. Whats the current consensus on TS?

Mids reborn is the new standard. Pines is outdated. Either way my post has the actual build laid out. You could just remake it in your preferred builder in 2 mins.

Check this thread, specifically the second build listed (my Crab build). The Crab Soldier can get Spiderlings (3 of them out at a time), Disruptors (2 of them out at a time), a PPP pet (1 of them out at a time) and with Incarnates, you can grab 2 more pets that are up 1/3 of the time. The Spiderlings, Disruptors and PPP pets can be permanent with Perma-Hasten levels of recharge bonuses.

Because its not real. Here's some more studies that show that using videogame accomplishments to fill in for real life accomplishments is not healthy, as well as general substitution of real life fullfilment with internet use. My apologies that some are pay walled but the abstracts do a decent job of summarizing the above conclusion. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0747563209001101 https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/cyber.2012.0034 https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0747563213004093?via%3Dihub#b0085 https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0747563213003671. This one specifically discusses "achievement motivation" in gaming, an induced stress increase and increase in addictive behavior. I used to show these tendencies and issues in the past and ended up doing some self reflection, realized I was valuing things that had no value, changed my gaming priorities, got rid of facebook and did some personal betterment. There's a reason that the "big evil corporations" are "evil" for preying on gamers by feeding into these reward systems. They wouldn't be "evil" if seeking these "accomplishments" was healthy.

But the point (and the point of a lot of research into the field that the cited article is discussing) is that getting a "pat on the head" for doing nothing of any value is actually mentally unhealthy. The fact that you are motivated by a digital shiny and that it triggers a sense of social superiority, pride or accomplishment is not something to be encouraged and is detrimental to mental well being. You shouldn't reply to someone and say "I'm going to continue to stick to my view points and not read the article you cited." That's just really poor form.

How is a FREE online (pirated) game more like a store than a public park? You analogy fails utterly from the start because nobody is paying anything here. There's nothing of value to pay for in this game and its run by donations. If this was a retail release, sure, but you're openly arguing in bad faith here.
-
Except that the people advocating for the status quo aren't advocating for taking anything away from the "sense of pride and accomplishment" people. They can set their own goals, work towards badges, etc. and everyone can enjoy what we have. That's "letting people play how they want to play". The other side is advocating for taking away things from everyone else. They are not for letting people play the way they want to play. Quick metaphor: right now we have a nice open public park for everyone. Everyone can do as they please there, with little restrictions. Someone comes along and says: "I want to fence off an area (just a small one!) and only let in people who have done 100 jumping jacks. Then I can feel special because everyone can see I did 100 jumping jacks and I'm awesome. Its no big deal though, anyone can come do 100 jumping jacks too and then you can get access to that part of the park I took away." That person would be rightly laughed at and ridiculed. Why should anyone be forced to accomodate that just so a small subset of people can stroke their ego over something that is so meaningless? That's what we're dealing with here.

That's kind of already a thing because most of the costume unlocks come with a badge. So essentially, everyone has clicked that "button" by default, but someone who wants to grind for something can just go get the matching badge that used to unlock it. But they dont want that, because part of their fun is that they want something you dont have.

At the base level we're operating in two different realities. I am operating in the realistic view that this is a dead game operating illegitimately with a fully volunteer staff that people play for fun and nostalgia. You seem to be operating under the delusion that this is a new triple A title that will continue to run with full servers for the next 10 years. We're not going to agree, so I'm done. I can just relax in the knowledge that nothing will change. From Live until now, things have only gotten less grindy.
-
You absolutely aren't. Locking anything away alienates people. People commenting IN THIS THREAD. You are for something that would alienate them. There is no half measure to that. You're not being reasonable because your preference won't always be catered to. Sometimes, you're not in the majority, and you have to live with the way things are. Not everything is up for compromise.
-
Status quo is fine with me. I'm willing to compromise in the other direction, as some people have also suggested (lvl50 tokens, no TF reward lockouts etc) because this whole experience is likely a flash in the pan before NCsoft bails on the "negotiation" and shuts it down. I am personally against any compromise in the direction of locking anything out. Period.
-
Yes. You're outnumbered and you're asking to change the status quo. What kind of ass backwards sense of entitlement are you working with? Here's an idea, instead of changing the way things are, pissing off hundreds to make you happy: Go play on one of the grindier servers. Nobody is stopping you. The COXG server has all of the original unlocks and merit reward values. Go play there.

No, I understand, hence why I said it. The difference is this isn't a commercial product. We have the player engagement we are going to have, without needing to resort to grind based, Skinner box addiction mechanisms to inflate it. The game as is stands on its own. The reason designers put the carrot on the stick is to keep players addicted so they keep making money. You on the other hand just live for the carrot and I legitimately think you have a problem. You don't seem to have any self reflection ability and you're just responding defensively. If this discussion is "triggering an episode" as you earlier put it, please step away from the forum and go do something else. You don't seem well.
-
You missed the point completely. It's not always about microtransactions and monitization. So much of game design is just about player engagement, which in turn gets you to keep your monthly fee going, gets you to buy expansions and keeps player count up so that other players have someone to show off their purchases to. You should take a step back amd reread what others have wrote and consider that you might have a problem.

"Talented modders" have made a lot of cool things on the other COH resurected servers. The Homecoming team haven't use any of that work, even when it was offered to them, and they're not going to. They wouldn't take the work of this hypothetical modder, especially if it came with conditions. Please don't spam new suggestion threads because the other thread didn't back your opinion. That's not how discussions are supposed to work.
-
It's not hidden motivation. Hero's specifically discussed "having" things that other's don't. Go read their comments here. Its the thinnest veil of a desire for superiority there is. I just want them to come out and say it so we are all discussing on the same page. I don't feel like quibbling about this further though. It should be abundantly apparent that Leandro and the rest of the showrunners put this all in place and don't seem interested in rolling back the grind. There's still so many people in game running level 50s with only SOs and asking to join their first TF that I can't see anything being changed to cater to a grindier audience. If you or Hero want to flex on people, this isn't the game for it. Edit: Comment above basically has OP come out and say its about flexing on "have nots" so nevermind. It's definitely an ego thing.
-
My egos completely not in this. I'd be cool with the main servers having instant 50s like test. We're playing in a 15 year old illegitimate sandbox. There's no reason we shouldn't all share our toys. I "earned" my cape over a decade ago. I think its ridiculous for us to be asked to go back and do all of that again, especially with all of the content the game has now.
-
There's a reason that the majority is against rolling back the grind. It's not some mysterious coincidence. People who want a grind are the minority and this is one of those instances where majority should take precedence. Especially if the minority opinion would also be a change from the status quo.
-
You can self limit yourself so you "need" a 50 to play EATs, complete the capes mission for capes, etc. There, you have your way, we have ours, everyone wins. If instead, we go your way, you win and the other side loses because they have to play your way. How do you not see that the current system is the win-win and your way is a win-lose? But nevermind, all of that. Its pointless because I'd put good money down that this is just because you want a way to stroke your ego over your accomplishments. Which is extra sad in a dead game available for free. Please just be honest and come out and say that you want to feel better than other people and this is an ego thing.
