Good info, thank you Erratic. I had thought Shadow was a toggle. Totally missed that. It's always something with me 🙂 @Erratic1 Looking at other Scrapper builds, my defenses seem above most. Am I missing something? I am honestly curious. Scrapper is pretty unknown to me in any meaningful way. I did play one on live, but it was fleeting, at best. I've revamped the build a bit again. I have recharge up to 165%. What would I need for perma?

In my mind it was close for sure. What tipped me towards the absorb proc with the Heal as well was doing the oro missions. They will be there from 15 on up ( I swapped miracle with Preventative just now when I /respec'd ) I suspect it will have more legs if considered in that way. I'm struggling with endo at the moment with SO's so I can't wait to get some help from enhancements and Incarnates.

Ok, after some more fantastic advice I think I have it. I made a teeeeensy little switch and I'm pretty chuffed with how this looks now. Ok, given the wonderful direction given by @Zect I've made changes that take into account the give information as well as knowing my personal play style and creature comforts ( evasive, I'm looking at you! ) I left evasive off so as not to skew the defensive stats, however the defenses DO apply when taking an initial alpha strike so they are considerable indeed in that regard. Thank you for taking the time to explain everything. Just the kind of post that is amazingly useful to those of us still learning ( or trying to, at any rate ) Mids and building in general. I honestly didn't catch that I had missed one of the key defensive enhancements. Kicking myself for that one as it's not something I usually do. Having played my build to 26 now, the one bit that I struggle with is Endo. I go endo shy quite fast if I'm not careful. I'm on all SO's at this point and my slotting has been Acc/Rech/Damx3 and EndoRex for my attacks. If I leave hover off, I can make do, with it on I have to pray I get blue drops or I'm empty in one fight. I'm going to focus on getting all the explore merits and get enough inf. to buy a few end build enh. if I can. My START bonuses have finally fallen off so now is the time to relax and explore a bit 🙂 I do have a question though. I was led to believe that the rule of 5 applies to purple sets as well. Your example has more than 5. Again, thank you kindly. It's much appreciated.

Thank you for that. RF, my hope was that it would just drop them as soon as they hit the edge. I'm not interested in herding with it, just getting enough soft control to give my old addled butt time to react to it 🙂 RB, @ level 20 so far, I like it's GOMF practicality. In groups, I just position myself, or avoid it since Flares is so fast (2 SO endRx in) It's damage per activation is surprisingly high so getting it basically whenever I want/need is nice. I'm switching the Disp/Maneuvers ASAP, I didn't know that about them, thanks a ton for that info! Spirit Ward, Yeah, I've used it a bit in groups this morning. Underwhelmed - really. Folks on Excelsior seem to run willy nilly all over the farm. I guess with an older server most folks are twinked to high heaven so while in a group, they tend to do whatever they hell they want anyway. Hello, I had made a Controller with parameters to suit my current condition. It was ok, and would probably be decent as a full time group build, but that isn't what I was after. I did like the Force Field aspect so am keeping that. It makes it flexible to allow me to be a good team build, when I'm able. I think it gives me a decent buffer for defense as a solo player. @Uun made an observation about Fire being a good direction to go in, so I have done that. For my Epic, I decided on Dark to bolster my sustain, damage and defenses. Hopefully this is a good starting point. I can finagle enhancements as needed. Thank you Uun. I've taken a look at fire and forcefield as a combo, and have decided maybe Corruptor might be what I need/want. The Controller has been playing ok, but the damage, even at low levels, has been problematic. Good advice, appreciate it. -

Hello again, As the title says I'm thinking of a solo build with AOE at it's core as well as secondary effects. I read about "proc monsters" not sure if that is a direction to go with this (understanding, of course, I'm not rolling in inf. yet) A peek behind the curtain, I'm sick. Treatments have been.... harsh, so grouping, just lately, has been difficult. GREAT, but difficult. I wanted to make something different, but something that might be able to solo ok too. Hence the "selfish" bit. No group buffs, just me, me, me. 🙂 I've got a sort of rough draft going, but I can't concentrate right now to save my life, and it looks a bit crap to me, even un enhanced. I don't know these powersets at all. Just seemed they had, at a glance, what I was after. I'll provide the rough draft, but again, it's just.... odd, to me. To answer a few questions: No, I'm not a fan 🙂 Tundra got stuck in my head and that was the direction my foggy noodle went. Yes, I realize it is horrible. Help? Ideas? Better options? Made some changes. Kept the gist of what I think my friend will enjoy. It's meant to be in the thick of it, because that's how he will play. I feel damge in Life drain is adding one more damage dealer, which I think I have plenty of. It's damage would be nice, but not needed as much as the healing. Healing flames has some healing, but it is mostly getting defenses stuffed in, Life Drain is meant to cover it's diminished healing properties. Healing flames recharges on a 14 second timer where-as Life Drain is on a 3.8 ( call it 4 - so three casts to one healing flame ). That was my thought process with those. I had made those changes a bit ago in regards to the HO's. I initially created this build at 2 am this morning. Not my best focus, if I'm honest. I also started lamenting about a few things. Recharge and a lack of end reduction in Maneuvers. I'm looking into the other aspects you have outlined. Thank you for that. I did play a Sent on live, but it was eons ago and it was nothing like this. One thing, the 3 slotting of LoTG into weave would just push a capped resist further into being over. To what end?

Hello, me again! So the title says it all. It sounds kinda bitchy on their part but I've gamed with them for 20+ years. I know what they like in an MMO environment and I also know they get bored with cookie cutter FOTM stuff. They actually like a little challenge and a bit of "off the beaten path". They love ranged but ALWAYS end up in melee. D&D, they were a Ranger ( OLD D&D folks .... old ) Stinkin' EverQuest they played a Mage with delusions of tanking (pets helped but.... yeah). Anarchy online, Dark Age of Chamelot, on and on. Same thing. You get the gist. Blapper comes to mind right off... but that cookie cutter thing, ya know? Also, he hates healing and buffing so defenders seemed like a poor choice. I'm not giving him my Dom and Corrs ... I'm keeping those in my back pocket too 😛 Sentinel, however... This has legs. I've settled on Dark for debuff, theme and Aoe goodness. Fire seems like a solid pairing and will feel a little familiar. Over-all I think leveling up will prove a challenge until certain aspects start coming online. The slow burn to endgame enhancing will stave off any OP-ness, for a time. But, look, since I'm pairing with him, I want him to be a capable Hero. Yeah, I wasn't sure how to focus. I used the over-all AT as the guide. It seems to lean resistance, so I leaned with it. I tried to get the defenses as high as possible while being resist focused. I'm not a tanker/brute player, as such, so I'm not sure if that was the correct deduction. I did make a concerted effort to get Melee Defense as high as possible. It made sense to me being a Melee AT. As a Blaster/Corr/Dom player predominantly, having a ranged Def that low .... was hard 🙂

Alt-itis with a twist! Way back when, on live, I was a Blaster/Corr/Dom player. I did dabble, of course. but nothing I'd call serious. The one I NEVER played, though, was a Brute. So, here we are. It was just a thought as I was geeking on metals last night/early this morning. If you look at a picture of chromium it looks kinda crystalline, in it's way. That lead (HAH! PUNY!) to a thought of a chromium entity. What powers would they have? Initially I started at blaster with energy being my focus. But I've been there, done that. I wanted a tanking experience, or close to it. For powers, Stone Melee with it's crystal option made a huge amount of sense to me. I had no idea about the defensive sets so went with something I know nothing about, of course! Look, I'm loving my Dom, he's 39, 520ish badges in and so much fun to play. But I need a break, for a lil bit, ok? 🙂 Being back in CoH has been wonderful. Time to kick it up a notch.
