  1. Have to agree with Kensai here. . . Spine burst is so not worth the animation time. I have been a spines fan since issue 4 (when I started playing) but found myself stripping it down to its barest essentials. . . Usually use Ripper/Throw Spines/impale (maybe) then mix in OG and sometimes cross punch (for the KB proc mostly).

So, I saw this challenge and decided I would do it my own way...just hit 37 on my Dark/Spines (not a fan of /Stone and never used Spines on any melee character since live). I am looking for feedback on the Dark/ side mostly, but will take secondary feedback too. This combo is very new to me, as I generally play Defenders.

I have to say I REALLY love it. TWO damage auras are so fun. It is an endurance hog. I have slotted 3/4 of the endurance uniques that I can. One more to go.

One question that I want to pose is: are y'all getting KB'd like crazy? I have two +4 KB protection IOs slotted (Steadfast and Universal Travel) -- I thought +8 KB protection would be solid. But I still feel like a friggen ping pong ball at times. I thought sets with built in KB protection only got 10....is that corrrect? Do I need to add more KB protection, and if so, how? This is my biggest gripe tbh. There is no reason that Tank sets do not have KB resistance.

My main, back in the day, was Darke/Spines Scrapper and I sat at 11 for KBR after inventions were introduced. That helped stop the ping pong.

Tank spines is definitely a bigger hitter for targets but damage is a bit lacking. Your cones are massive though so take advantage.

  3. Havent played in months (BG3 took me away) but I always return at some point and saw this challenge. And since I havent played in forever basically I am "cheating" a bit and buying all my sets and planning things out ahead of time and slotting on the fly. However, will not be powerleveling. . . Doing Eagle Eye in KR right now since have not done his arc, some tip missions, and have never done the new Striga so looking forward to running all of that content.

Great challenge combining two sets I have used prolifically in the past but never together.

  4. This girl hits like a truck and is one of my most played tanks (and I have 35 of them). You can make modifications based on your preference (her second build swaps out ToF for fully slotted Cross Punch to take advantage of +recharge and I tend to use that for solo TFs and harder content).

I have been playing around with my Necro/Dark and Twilight is the only power I have slotted (3 Theft of the essence) at level 24. . . And yes, I have not yet run out of endurance. . .

The only reason I haven't bought it is because of the sheer size of the download. It took me three days to install GTA Online. I could get it done faster, but I don't want cable people drilling holes in my house.

It is absolutely worth the download. . . just be prepared to not get any sleep for awhile and make sure to find your Arabian Horse right away - makes the game so much better when you track and break that horse in the wild!

Never played it, but I play GTA Online, and players mention quite often how more peaceful Red Dead Online is. I mean for one, no one has strapped a rocket and missiles to a horse, so it can rain death from above.

The single player experience is outstanding. . . Online wasnt my thing but the main game is absolutely breathtaking and can absolutely take up to 500 hours if you do all the side missions, explorations, main storyline, and mini-games.

Hands down one of my favorite games of my lifetime.

    Not really helpfull, but ok.

Your choice of pairing will result in a sub-par experience. .. You have very little mitigation in the form of defense and mez protection.

choosing an armor for a blaster will yield very low survival as blaster hit points are low enough and you will be able to mitigate 30% or so of S/L damage?

As I said, swapping out to a secondary that compliments Seismic is a much better route.

    • Thumbs Down 1
  10. I may have finally found a reason to play a Blaster and been here since issue 4. . .

    Earth/Martial/Mace is RIDICULOUS. . . So much fun. . .

    Okay, feedback time.  . .

    Animations are great fun

    Rock shards is definitely skippable

The long activation on meteor is a bit jarring at first. . . especially since other AoE powers dont seem to fire while waiting for the "big finish" - great animation and definitely feels unique but it is looooong

You will have to be a little more clear here. You do realize that the fault damage is not the same AOE as the fault kd I hope. The hint is in the power description as to what gets damage, and where. If you are thinking everything is in the same aoe bucket, then that would be why you think this is not WAI.

No I get it. . . I dont test often but have been here since issue 4 so I am well aware of cones versus targeted.

I simply mean that using Fault resulted in a multiple "Misses" from the cone regardless of my position. . . I know it is a 5 target max on Scrappers and the crew all came tumbling down but reliably I was seeing only 1 "hit" on the damage portion.

Even went back in this morning and reviewed combat logs during a mission and cone damage rarely hit more than 2 times. . .

Again, could be my wonderful luck - because if it werent for bad luck I would have no luck at all - but just an observation on scrapper. Havent had a chance to test on my SD/SM Tank yet.

  12. So happy to have a smashing scrapper.

Leveled to 50 and ran a few missions (3 in total).

    Positive:
It's Stone Melee and bouncing baddies around is still amazing

Plenty of Knockback/down depending on slotting

    Cons:
Fault seemed to miss the damage aspect every single time even with a 95% chance to hit

Damage seemed below that of my Tank by a wide margin

Seismic Smash didnt really smash so much as insult - the damage may have been tweaked a little to far down

  13. Welcome back home. . . I returned the day after Homecoming launched. . . and again after it disappeared for a week over "stuff" and have been here since. (started the OG on issue 4 and played until the doors closed and the torches went out).

I have 2 accounts since I enjoy most of the post 35 stuff more than lower level. . . I get my toons to 35, IO them to some extent, then level to 50 through missions, teams, radios, TFs, and so on. . . And at current count have about 100 characters between 35-50+ across all the servers (on both accounts). Anytime you are looking for a group in that 35+ content feel free to shoot me a tell! Always happy to have a partner or group to run with!

  14. DarkebeDamned was my main on live and still play him some on Homecoming although I swapped him over to the Brute and Tank Version. Even so, as a Scrapper this is by far the most survivable Scrapper I ever played and used to regularly farm the Carnie Graveyard when Purples would drop from that map before shutter.

    1. When did you started playing CoX? Was it before or after the game shut down? Tell me a little about how you met the game.
      1. I came in right around issue 4 on the main run of the game. Played until the night the servers shut down. I actually saw it advertised in a comic book store and was like, huh that looks amazing!
    2. Have you played the game before the shut down in 2012? If the answer is yes, tell me about how you feel about the game’s “Death”. What was that experience like?
      1. It was a really difficult thing for me honestly. I was in New York, at the US Open when the announcement was made and I remember my wife teasing me all night about how mopey I was. . . We were even out to dinner and my favorite player walked into the restaurant and I didnt even notice (and this for a man in his 30s at the time)!
    3. And when the game returned in 2019? What did you felt? Was it like a “Homecoming”?
      1. It was amazing to have it back. . . I never thought it would last this long on its return and I played just about every day in 2019 and at least 3-4 times a week throughout 2020. . . this year has been a little tougher to get time in mostly due to returning to work post-pandemic but i sitll log in weekly at least!
    4. What was the first thing you did after playing the game for the first time in years?
      1. I recreated 4 or 5 of my main characters and started leveling them almost immediately. May have change an Archetype of two but they all got the love I missed for the last 8 years!
    5. What are your thoughts on the return of the servers? Did you brought something with you from the original server? (Avatars, builds, things like that)
      1. I had all of my mids build still saved. . . Could never bring myself to delete any of them. Characters, costumes, concepts all were saved and brought along. I think the only character I have not recreated was my Necro/Dark MM Witch but she will return eventually!
    6. Do you like to play with a specific character? (can be more than one) If yes, what makes it so special to you?
      1. I played everything until the Tank changes came to Homecoming! I loved those changes so much for the last 8 months or so I have been all tanks all the time!

Your fox newsing the numbers. Look at the beta, the speed caps for both leaping and jumping are full time caps that can be reached with as little investment as the caps for flight. The flight cap is only achievable if using afterburner, which is not ALWAYS going to be available. The real flight cap is 87.5 mph. SO if AB only last 30 seconds that means you can travel .9 miles before it turns off for 1 minute. .9 miles is less then halt the distance to cross IP or Talos island. So while your AB turns off, speedsters and leapers get to keep their cap bonuses.

On current live 87.5 requires alot of investment but leaves you 5-6mph behind the speedsters and leapers, still 3rd but not by alot. Now if you wanted to say that AB was still a toggle, still self effecting only, and capped you at 102 and maybe give leaping another 5 percent speed cap, that would be much closer to a equal boost to all travel powers that kept them in closer relation to how they now work but increased travel speed over all for everyone.

But it isnt a fair comparison to say that the investment and net results are fair when one power will lose roughly 15mph for one third of the time you are in the air.

I like how everyone overlooked the political commentary. . .

Anyways, was just on beta and the changes - across the board - are pretty nifty. Is something faster than something else. . . Yes. . .

Should it be. . . YES!

Do you seriously want every travel power to be equal?!?!? And to what end?!?! What does that accomplish?

Seriously, this isnt game breaking stuff. . . Heck, this is a game. . . You are cnn'ing the fun out of it. 😉

I think most people have dismissed it for most AT's. I know I've been championing it hard for stalkers and dominators. Granted their versions are a bit different than the heavy melee AT's.

A large part of the issue is the game doesn't even display a good number of the attacks. No casual person is likely to roll a savage melee when the two aoe attacks show no damage and the heavy hitter looks like it does less than a tier 1 attack.

I'm not sure why the game can show the different damage levels of the combo system for street justice, but not for savage melee. They must be different enough. Who knows.

The second is 99% of users don't seem to understand how savage leap works. Plus it is a pretty finicky power at times. I rolled savage melee on a stalker on a whim. Only to discover it is actually ridiculous. I think there was a sav/fire brute in one of the farming threads that was right up there in clear speeds.

My Savage/Shield Stalker and Tank are two of my most played toons!
They are unbelievably well adapted to most situations in the game and an absolute blast to play.
Does take some tweaking and when I do team with them I get a ton of comments like, "I always thought SM was weak. . ."

They take a little love and time and procs to get the most out of but for a player who has experience with the game they are unrelenting fun!
