  1. Ok so if I'm playing a Warshade, I get Dark Sustenance inherently, which boosts my powers depending on the make-up of my team.  I am led to believe those numbers are as follows:

    • For every Tank, Mastermind, Corrupter, Defender present on my team, my Damage Resistance increases by 10%
    • For every Scrapper, Bruter, Stalker, Blaster, Sentinel on my team, my Damage output increases by 20%
    • For every Controller or Dominator, I add a 1 Magnitude Resist to being mesmerized
    • For every Spider, Widow, Peacebringer or fellow Warshade on the team, I gain a 10% slow resist.

Question 1:  are those numbers accurate and applicable on Homecoming?

Question 2:  is that per individual, or is the bonus only gained once, regardless of how many are on the team?  Meaning if I'm a Warshade on a team with two Defenders, does my Damage Resistance increase by 20% now (10% per Defender)?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Hivemind -

I'm trying to do a Shivan arc, and am running into issues.  It appears as if the Neo-Shivans cap at level 25, but when I add a Shivan Obliterator AV, it lists level 15-40.   Can I make the surrounding bad guys level 40 as well?  I'm a little unclear how to make the minions match the AV level.  The goal here is the highest level Shivans possible.

If that can't be done, I would want to make custom Shivans that can function at higher levels, but there doesn't appear to be an option for a Shivan in the custom characters.

Is there any possible way to make a Shivan mission with villians higher than level 25?

    Cheers, thanks a lot.

I wish you well.  I just saw a Super Reflexes Tank (only Alpha slotted) eat dirt trying to Tank Rom on a 2 star ITF.  I stepped in with my Dark/Invul Brute.  With a hand at my back by one of the teams corruptors I was fine.

Regen?  Just straight up eat it all huh?  Because there are adds from time to time on top of Rom.  I think My Dark Dark Brute or for sure Dark Dark Tank could do it, maybe without the outside heals....maybe not lol.  But Dark has the best heal in the game.  And so much Resistance, and tons of tricks to screw adds.  But just balls out heal through it all?

Now you make me want to try a Regen Brute.  Curse you!

Please PLEASE tell me you’re going to do this!  I’d love to see your build and get your thoughts on what it does well.  I’m looking at a SS/Regen brute myself, using foot stomp and hand clap for some breathing room if I need to heal.  Cheers!

  4. Right.  So after leveling all manner of tanks, i've decided to give my first brute a go to 50.  In reviewing brute possibilities, something occurred to me as i clicked 'energy/energy': not only was there not an energy aura tank, but that apparently there was some commentary about how 'overpowered' it might be to port it over to tank.  i was astonished.
I then began to study the other archetypes that have access to energy aura, and found that the stalker variety has a great power in it - disrupt - that other energy aura versions don't have!
So my question/suggestion is: couldn't a way be found to effectively create a new tank set to level, port disrupt over (as that seems to be a great mob mitigation power for a tank), and address any question about comparable power levels?  we seem to do that part with some frequency, adjusting things like regen and titan weapon as we go along.  I ask because there are currently 11 tanker primaries.  If i've gone through 10, and bio armour is my last to get to 50, i'd love another go at trying something new, something that wouldn't have to be built from the ground-up.
    Cheers, thanks a lot!

I don't think the Concealment pool needs any further buffs (all Widow buffs accepted!), but it would be more awesome for me if the Presence pool's Pacify worked like Placate to allow the crits.

BTW, is that Modesty Blaise as your avatar? Zatanna?

It's wonder woman, during her Emma Peel phase in the early 1970s.  My main is a homage.

You won't be able to crit with widow melee powers like you can using mask presence. Endurance cost is also a bit higher. If you were going pure ranged fortunata I guess there's a decent case for it though.

Thanks for the quick reply!  I guess I was under the impressing that I could crit if I was hidden by ANY power, not just my own.

  7. Okay.  So Issue 27, part deux is out, and Stealth & Invisibility are now one power.  I may be late to this party, but I've just made my first Widow:
Since you can now attack with Invisible on, and you don't have to buy Stealth to get to Invisible (thus only using one power choice now instead of two), is this the way to go vs. buying Mask Presence for a Widow, since the former is a stronger power?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

    Cheers.

Ah, got it.  Sometimes someone is like "Hey, I got this great idea." yet in game its something as simple as 30 seconds of work.  Just seems more work then necessary to pull a respec off a toon.  There are just so many options, you will most likely already off running another alt before you would respec the last one.  Everything in game is so cheap compared to live, most of the cost is time invested on the build not influence spent.

Agreed.  I'm not aware of how involved a change like would be to make.  Since there are already things like server transfers and emailing things to others of your characters, I didn't know if it was a simple thing that could be based on existing code, or required a bunch of new code, etc.

You want infinite free respecs, 1000 x 5 servers x 6 freebies x 6 TF = 180,000 possible respecs.  Not to mention if you decide to delete characters and level them up to 50, for another 6 freebies + 6 TF.

Question is, why have the devs spend more time to allow you to transfer respecs you won't use when you don't need them.

    respec.png.93c1795afe1bfa34b535c055b472efcf.png

/ah -> type 1,800,000 -> Recipe table -> Combine, cost 250,000 -> Done, consumed and awarded to the character.

5 minutes in a Briggs #125 for 1 map, I could get enough influence to buy 2 recipes and consume them. Note:  You can only consume 1 recipe at a time.

tl;dr - Its already there and you spent more time thinking about a new idea that's already implemented.

Not to mention, you can always strip enhancements and change your build.  But that is entirely useless anyway unless you have separate builds, just ripping out the enhancements is going to take more time and influence then necessary.

Its already there and you spent more time thinking about a new idea that's already implemented.

I'm not sure if this post was addressed specifically to me or not, but the basic point of my original post was that I - and I'm sure others - have earned respecs just kind of sitting about that another of our characters could likely use.  I really didn't spend a whole lot of time thinking about it:  it just popped into my head when I logged in today, and thought I'd mention it. If transferring respecs has already been implemented, I guess I just don't know how.  Thanks.

  10. Hello team!  I had an idea.  A couple of my level 50's have half a dozen respecs lyin' about that they'll never use, as those heroes are built exactly the way I want them. I also have a couple that are in desperate need of a rebuild.  It seems a shame that I have earned respecs that I will never, ever use, so I thought, why not suggest a way to transfer a respec between characters?
Has anyone else run into this issue?

    Cheers.

    By matter of comparison:

Titan Weapons:  Follow Through:  90.88 DPA, 10s Recharge (Requires Momentum)  Second Attack - Rend Armor.  71.22 DPA (I believe OUTSIDE of Momentum Time.  For reals, yall)

Mace:  Clobber:  89.47 DPA.  14 Second Recharge.  Mag 3 Stun (No drawback)  Second Attack - Jawbreaker.  44 DPA, but recharges fast and knock UP

Energy Melee:  Energy Transfer:  69.86 DPA. 20 second recharge.  Mag 3 Stun (Self inflicted damage)  Second Attack - Total Focus, 46 DPA, same 20 second recharge.

Psionic Melee:  Greater Psi Blade:  69.77 DPA  15 Second Recharge Mag 3 Hold.  -9.6% Recharge Debuff to Target (No downside, damage higher if focused)

Second attack - TK BLow.. 9s Recharge, 57.69DPA, Knockup, and adds focus to make Psi Blade even more damaging.

Superstrength:  Knockout Blow:  66.66 DPA. 25 second recharge.  Mag 3 Hold (No drawback.  Set Bonus - Rage)  Fallback is Haymaker, 42DPA, fast recharge, and the set still has rage.

    By comparison, then:

Titan Weapons has the highest DPA, on the shortest recharge.  It requires Momentum to use this attack, but by 50 with a plan, your in momentum almost all the time.  And it has attacks to follow it that are ALSO silly DPA.  Set also has great AOE.

Mace has a better attack than Energy Transfer - more DPA, shorter recharge, same mag CC, and it doesnt hurt you.  Jawbreaker isnt bad.  And set has some AOE to keep its single target company.

Psionic Melee has a basically identical attack to Energy Transfer - but its psychic damage, so you get to laugh at almost all mob resists.  And it debuffs.  And its damage goes significantly higher if you have stacks of focus (you have stacks of focus).  And the set has two AOEs to the one of Energy Melee.

Superstrength has KNockout Blow.  Basically the same DPA, longer recharge, but it lives in the same set as RAGE.  You know, Rage, its like buildup, if buildup was perma and stackable 2-3x.  And some other decent attacks.  And Rage.  And an infamous AOE.  And Rage.

In light of the above, the only thing that justifies the existence of energy melee is the value of being pillow-fisted with pink-pom-poms.  Its not middle of the road with pros and cons, its just actively, notably, bad.  Reverting Energy Transfer probably wouldnt actually even make the set competitive with the later produced 'good sets' - Probably need to revist the animation time on Total Focus, and maybe give a bit of love to Barrage (say to the same DPA as Energy Punch and Bone Smasher - if you want the set to have a reason to be other than to by its choice indicate that you are uniformed, nostalgia-driven, or an active masochist.

The accuracy of this post made me incredibly sad to read.  EM is one of the OG powers. To see it so badly nerfed - and its repair so thoroughly ignored - is cape-crushing.   Lovely, detailed post, though.

    Weekly discussion 65 - Week 8/23/20-8/29/20:

⚔️YOU VOTED: Let's build our own powersets! ⚔️

    Things to think about:

    >Work by yourself or in a team!
    >Make sure to give all the details you can! List powers, animations, numbers, etc!
    >Think about balance and not making it to over or under powered.
    >What powersets would you like to see from Homecoming?

    Let's Chat 😄

Duplication/cloning. And I would make it a pool power (hear me out).
We know the capability is available, because we fight our duplicate (with our powers duplicated) in a series of missions in Faultline in the teens/early 20's.
If you make it a Mastermind, it takes up one of the power sets to do it, so a real duplicate with both primary and secondary abilities can't be done, as the cloning process takes up the primary power set.
So, my thought is, make it a pool power.  Whereas flight as 5 different levels (hover, fly, group fly, afterburner, air superiority), the pool levels would be number of clones available, and would grow in power with the character .
This process also allows for players to choose the number of clones they want exactly (i.e. - with phantom army, i have to have 3.  if i just want a twin, i can buy just the one clone).
And please, in the name of all that is good and fun, please make them costume customizable, so I can have a red, a white, and a blue for Independence Day!

So many players want to get their character to max level VERY FAST (insta 50). They do this by "powerleveling" (PL) with 50's killing AV's and other high level missions. All they have to do is stand there and watch the XP fly in. I've tried this and it's dead boring. Then I deleted the character, because I have no good memories or great experiences of "actually playing that character". Plus once you get to 50 using the PL method all you have is an empty 50. What are you going to do, put millions into the enhancements and still don't know how to play them? That would be a waste of your time and resources.

My enjoyment of City of Heroes or any other mmo is "playing the character all the way through". Fifty levels on COH isn't a lot so leveling is too fast already. Enjoy your character while you still can.

Note: I'm currently leveling a dedicated tank on the Everlasting server. He reached 17 last night. If you ever wanted to play a Blaster, PB or Mastermind with little chance of taking damage (because I'm pulling it all to me), now's your chance. His name is "Tankalot", a BlueSide Hero and my global name is @Diantane. Will be playing all day today: Sunday, August 30th EST. Also play in the evenings and weekends. Hope to see you ingame!

PS: We could use a dedicated defender empathy healer. They are fun to play, are always welcome in a group (and often asked to come back), but are very rare to see anymore.

    See you ingame!

    ~Diantane

My group is exactly the same.  Get the XP boost, everything's +4 level and purple, get to 50 in an hour.  One of our group is burning himself out fast, as he only plays dps characters, so now that he has his favourite blaster, brute, and scrapper, he's struggling for other things to play, and he's done it to himself.  I'm not possessed to get to 50 the day I make a character, because I want to enjoy the journey with my friends.

  14. Hi.  My suggestion would be to allow an option to limit the fx for the Radiation Armour set.  With everything running, it's a little distracting.  I see that the option is available for Dark Melee and Bio Armour.  Would it be possible to make that option available for Radiation as well? Pic enclosed is at level 8.  I can only imagine what this is going to look like in the 40's. Thanks!

  15. Hi Hive Mind -

Has anyone ever published/tracked either the Troll Rave in Skyway City or the Hellion Firestarter event in Steel Canyon?  I was hoping to use one as a super-group origin story, but don't know if they're on a timer, or just happen at random intervals. Before I start camping out in the zone to see how often the announcements come up, I'm just curious if anyone's ever timed it out before. Thanks!
