  1. I swear to god I'm not dead, in spite of July's best efforts. Look! A page!! (I've moved to writing the dialogue in all-caps, because that's an industry standard and it looks weird the other way. They're not just yelling at each other, I promise. XD)
  2. New page! It's been a while since I've drawn Seth, so thank you for your patience as I re-learn how to draw his face. And for those who don't know, he's not being a nosy Ned for no reason. He and Nikeiva got their powers from the same place, and both suffered similar... 'side-effects', so his concerns are rooted in personal experience. (What are those side effects? What is he so worried about? What doesn't Nyx want to talk about? That'll come up later.)
  3. I like that. I was wondering what the CoH font was, so that's good info to know. I think regardless of what I go for, though, the title's going to need to be stretched vertically a bit-- it's just such a long word!
  4. Still looking for a good font for the title, but here's the cover for the 'issue' I've drawn so far:
  5. Yeah, Nyx and Seth have history. Not romantic history-- neither of them thinks of the other that way-- but origin-story-related trauma history. They know each other's dirty secrets, basically. The conversation will go there starting next page. Meanwhile, I'm going to try making a 'cover' for this issue. My thoughts were to have a picture of Nyx, either in costume or civilian wear, having a cup of coffee on the roof of city hall (or on top of Atlas), with the view of the cityscape in the background, but I'm open to other ideas, too.
  6. New art!! You remember that Seth guy she was avoiding? Yeah.... about that... (I wanted to have this piece up several days ago, but in the span of the past month, my car, phone, and scanner all horked themselves, so I've been dealing with replacing and reconfiguring a new scanner! Seems okay so far.)
  7. I've been calling the CoH comic just 'Homecoming', personally, although it has occurred to me now that I never really stated that was its formal title. And yeah, I figured the community here would be more invested in a CoH comic that's been running longer and is familiar and relevant to their niche interest (AND has cameos of folks in it!) than a random fantasy comic that's 1.5 pages in so far. But yeah, no worries. Still going with this. I have cool ideas for both the main plot and a few character sub-plots, and I like where it's going. I have the next page thumbnailed, I just haven't had as much time to draw this week due to Life getting in the way. AND I'm going to have to run some cover ideas past folks, soon. Cuz the next page is going to be the last page of the 'issue'. (At which point I'm starting on the next 'issue'. Don't freak out.)
  8. Wanderer's Song is the actual chapter title -- the other phrase is more author's commentary about what the chapter is actually *about*. Basically, I didn't know what to put in the 'Description' box when I posted the cover art. It'll make more sense as the comic goes. As far as drawing two comics? I'm only publicly posting Renegade Legends on a regular weekly cycle. Homecoming is more informal, and posted here and on my DA page, whenever I can. I'm putting more of my effort into the story I have full creative ownership of, rather than into the fan comic for an IP whose owner is... shall we say, 'touchy', because I'd like to do further stuff with it some day. I'm still going to continue the Homecoming story, though, because I have some really cool ideas for it yet to come!
  9. Yeah... that's been a recurring problem. That link seemed to work when I sent it to a friend via a chat messenger, but apparently not on a forum. I've tried a few links from Webtoon, signed in OR out, and have had mixed results. If all else fails, it's easily searched for on site, but... I'll work on getting a functional link. This one works for me, if I log out of Webtoon and copy-paste it into another window. Lemme know if it works for you. https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/renegade-legends/list?title_no=628461 (First actual comic page will be up on Saturday, so there's still nothing but a cover, so don't worry if you're not seeing a comic to read yet.)
  10. Whoops! XD Although, I'll admit freely, the previous page isn't my best. It's too crowded, and evidently neither the art nor the text came out quite right. I like the most recent page a lot better. AND, the next page is page 22, which is usually the last page in a single-issue comic, so I'm going to have to come up with a little bit of an end-of-issue cliffhanger, and maybe an issue 'cover'. (No, I'm not stopping the comic after the next page. Yes, I have an idea I'm working my way towards/through.) Also... awww, thanks @DJ1 and @Christopher Robin for saying my comic is 'professional quality' (or at least trying to be). I put a lot of thought and effort into this, but you know how artists are-- nothing is ever good enough. ❤️
  11. *GASP* A page! And as an added bonus: Hey guys, I started a webcomic called Renegade Legends! ALSO involving a pointy-eared protagonist. This one's fantasy instead of superheroes, though, and so far I've only put up the Chapter 1 cover, but I have a 30-page buffer I've been working on since October, so there IS more. I have it up in a few places, if anyone wants to take a look. https://tapas.io/series/Renegade-Legends https://renegadelegends.tumblr.com/ https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/renegade-legends/list
  12. The page exists! There's a lot I could say about it, but I'm just going to leave this here for now. Sorry for the delay-- I'd have had it up a few days ago, but my birthday was on Monday, and I spent all goddamn day making an epic cake.
  13. I would adore this. A temporary, summonable monkey in a tutu, with a gun. Also, next page is inked, I just need to find the time to color it. My other project has been taking up all of my art time, but I hope to get back to this soon.
  14. Oh it was definitely just easier to draw. The space those symbols take up is less than 1/4 inch wide on my page, and I was working from this screenshot: It was one of the last things I added to that panel, too. So I took one look at that pattern, rolled my eyes, and fudged it a bit.
  15. That is an option! I'd like some sort of running gag, but I've gotta find the right thing.
  16. I will not make Ming trying to catch a monkey a running gag.... I WILL not make Ming trying to catch a monkey a running gag.... I WILL NOT make Ming trying to catch a monkey a running gag....
  17. Glad you like it, folks! This was a fun page to do. I enjoy putting in cameos, partly because it delights people, and partly because it means I don't have to make up convincing background characters. It's the same reason my backgrounds are so detailed, actually: I'm working from actual screenshots most of the time. A few things: The full name of the coffee Nyx is drinking is 'Power-Up Coffee', which, much like Flying Pie, is a fictional brand I'm going to be putting in the comic. You'll see the full logo later if/when she spends any time at a coffee shop. I spent an unreasonable amount of page space in my sketchbook trying to come up with a logo, which in retrospect seems a little silly given how little of it you can see under Nyx's hand. (In my personal head canon, they offer discounts for heroes, which scale with their clearance level, like 10% for a 10th level hero, 25% for a 25th level hero, etc.) I have other businesses I may include someday, including a dry cleaner who has Seen. EVERYTHING. and just cannot be surprised or horrified anymore. A lot of people comment on the way I do marble. Well, here's my method: First I do a flat layer of color. Then I take a shade that's 1-2 steps darker, dab it on a wadded-up scrap of tissue, and dab that stained tissue on the page where I want marble texture. This is.... dangerously imprecise, so I have to mask off/cover up any places I don't want marble texture, so that, for example, Brahn doesn't end up with marble texture on his face. Regarding 'half' emotions-- I like drawing them because I think they're almost more natural, especially for loner/introvert types like Nyx (and myself...), who can be notoriously hard to read, and rarely have just one thought or emotion going at one time. In panel three, what you're seeing on Nyx's face there isn't quite resignation, but isn't quite enthusiasm either, and it works for her mixed feelings about taking up the mantle of hero again (yay!) but having to start over from the bottom (boo hiss). Also it's fairly chill/low-energy because Nyx is not a morning person. I'd comment that I live in Portland, Oregon... but that's not 'gets weirder faster' so much as 'is just goddamn strange all the time'.
  18. Let's just say only *one* figure on this page is wearing a tutu, instead of two. btw, I have the page partially colored. I'd have been farther by now, but my other project was taking longer than usual, and it's on a deadline, so I get to this comic when I can. But progress is being made!
  19. Thank you! Neither one of us wanted me to make something up. ❤️
  20. Hey @DJ1 Do you have any screenshots of Grey Ming from the waist down?
  21. I mean, I designed Nyx back in 2004, on the pre-beta forums, maxed her out as an Incarnate on live servers, and then remade her again on the Homecoming server, and brought her all the way back up to 50 again, so I may be biased in the realms of loyalty to old characters... But, like... you get HOW many character slots? Do both. Do whatever you want. And if you don't make it onto these next few pages as a cameo, there will be plenty more opportunities.
  22. Those'll work just fine! And thank you for giving me some (reasonable, sane) ideas for what they're up to. No one wants me to get creative. (I mean, unless you do.) And @Seen2BeGreen , if you would like Captain Yarrrr, drop me a screenshot or some art in here, and let me know what their business in City Hall is.
  23. Yeah... it's a terrible apartment in a terrible neighborhood, but Nyx is broke, and lives pretty sparsely anyway. Soon, when she's moved in and more comfortable with where everything is in her apartment, she won't even use the door -- she'll teleport in. In regards to the next page, it'll be the next day, and Nyx returns to City Hall to talk to Antonio Nash. Since I hate drawing generic background characters (because it means I have to come up with details and make them distinct and interesting, and still draw everything else), I'm opening this to everyone who reads this comic: I need people milling around in the background. Anyone want a character cameo? If so, I need the following: 1. A screenshot or artwork of the character you want (they have to be someone who can legit be IN City hall, so villains are probably out...) 2. Some idea of what they're *doing* there. (Talking to a contact? Taking care of business at the counter? Chatting with another hero/civilian? Clinging to the ceiling and having a nervous breakdown? I will get creative if you don't give me some ideas. That's a threat.) I'd like to start this page in a day or two at the latest, so ideally I'd like these ideas by Tuesday. I'm flexible as long as the page is still in pencil form, but once it's inked, you're going to have to wait for the next page or two.
